The group of Cybrim Defense helicopters were being lead by a large sleek grey mother ship which seemed to have a few missile launchers attached to it. They were really going all out in pursuit of a group of teenagers in a van.
Soon enough the voice of General Murray came from the mother ships speakers in a commanding tone almost as if he were speaking to them like a police officer.
“At the orders of the Cybrim Defense Force you are to pull over and turn yourselves in immediately!,” spoke General Murray from the megaphone of a helicopter.
“Why are they so keen on arresting us? Like can they just buzz off for a second and let us have a moment to breath at least?” said Laren, annoyed at the pesky villains.
“I think it’s because they’re trying to arrest us before we can spill the beans about their evil plan,” said Carmen as she did a weak jazz hands at the “evil plan” part.
“Too bad we don’t listen to cops. What did they think we were gonna do? Come out waving white flags?,” says Inez, amused at the situation.
A second after her talking a barrage of missiles hit the ground near the van causing everyone to scream. Leilani speeds up and swerves out of the way from incoming missiles being shot out of the helicopters.
“Great. Now you made them mad,” said Varian annoyed at their siblings opening their mouths when they shouldn’t.
“They can’t even hear me you dumb ass,” defended Inez.
Carmen tries to make her gauntlet work only for it to not respond. She turns on her glass tablets to try and connect to her laptop once more but it seems that the glitch has started to infect it as well. No longer having patience with the broken device she decides to go and repair the thing.
“I’m going to fix the gauntlets. I need to do it outside so I’ll have to check out for the moment. Protect the van while I’m out,” says Carmen before getting out of the sim.
“She just disappeared,” whispered Hoku, mystified.
“She got off the sim to repair our devices because the damn glitch is spreading again. We just have to make due with what we have until she comes back,” says Varian.
In the real world Carmen takes off her headset and dashes to her bedroom. She returns with her laptop to the living room and opened the source code of the simulation. After finding the features for the gauntlets she went to work, typing away on the laptop.
Back in the sim Inez was digging stuff out of her infinite bag before finding a magical ball which answered questions when shaken.
“Wonder what does this do?,” said Inez before shaking the orb. The dice inside of the ball rolled around for a bit before stopping. A white symbol of a rocket on one side of the dice appeared on the ball. The ball shined white as it morphed into a large gun in Inez hands. She lifted it into the air in joy.
“I got a rocket launcher!,” cheered Inez.
Suddenly a missile hit the left side of the van causing it to swerve out of control. The crew were shaken around in the back of the van.
“We’ve been hit! I repeat we’ve been hit Captain!,” yelled Piers.
“Captain! What do we do with about our damaged ship?,” inquired Enola to Satoshi who was at the passenger seat in front of the van. He appeared to be checking the status of the van and sees it’s about 35 percent damaged.
“We just have to toughen it out until Carmen comes back. The van will stay running as long as it doesn’t reach 85 percent in damage. Leilani does this van has a shield?,” inquired Satoshi.
“Of course. You have to pull it up and choose the size first. Let me show you,” said Leilani before proceeding to show Satoshi the defense features of the van.
The rest of the crew were trying to adapt to the situation to the best of their ability which wasn’t much.
“I’m gonna throw up,” whispered Hoku as he tried to keep his food in.
“Dude don’t. Because if you throw up I’m going to throw up and I really don’t want to do that even if my after life,” pleaded Laren as he hugged Keitos arm in order to find some comfort in the situation.
“I feel like I’m already halfway there man,” said Varian in a frail voice. He was definitely not having fun at the moment.
“Would you guys stop talking about throwing up for one second!,” yelled matteo who was starting to loose it due to the insanity of the situation.
In the real world Carmens sibling screamed loudly causing Carmen to look at them with confusion. The sound of screaming in the mostly silent house was jarring against the chaotic scene happening on the other side. She went back to working on her laptop blissfully unaware of what was going on.
Back in the sim as Leilani managed to regain control of the van which was partly on fire now. Inez ran to the back of the van with the rocket launcher.
“I Inez Monez declare you to battle by fire,” said Inez, dramatically. She them took a knee and aimed the rocket launcher at a helicopter.
“Now eat this bitch!”
She fired the weapon and a rocket launched towards the helicopter causing it to explode in an instant. Inez continued to fire rockets at the rest of the helicopters while doing a war cry. The rest stared shocked at the sight of Inez taking out all of the enemies with near perfect aim. Once all the helicopters were taking out Inez turned around and beamed a grin at the crew. The team started to cheer at the fact there was no longer anybody following them. As the group continued to cheer Carmen came back in the sim. She looked around the scene in confusion.
“Uhh what just happened when I was gone?,” asked Carmen as she sat back on her seat in the van.
“Oh nothing just causal murder that’s all,” said Enola causally as she tried to down play the absolute chaos that happened while her twin was gone. To her this situation just seemed completely normal to her due to her families tendency to get in trouble. Do they never got in trouble with a company before so that was different.
“Inez just took out all the helicopters like flies,” answered Keito as he gestured to the said helicopter destroyer.
Inez bowed at the rest before taking her seat.
“Thank you thank you I do my best,” says Inez, proud of herself.
The celebration was ruined when Leilani spotted a group of police vehicles parked on the highway a distance in front of them.
“I’m sorry for interrupting your victory but we’ve got company,” says Leilani which caused the rest to turn to the front. Their faces dropped once they realized that the police were blocking the entrance into the city were the base was.
“Man do these guys ever give up!?,” exclaimed Laren, frustrated.
“We can’t attack them. The van is already on fire and if we stay out here any longer it’s guaranteed to explode,” warned Satoshi. He gestured out to the fire that encased the left side of the van. It was growing more violent by the second. Suddenly a loud POP! sound could be heard before the van started to swerve violently.
“Why did you have to open your mouth!?,” yelled Piers in exasperation.
As the rest of the team tried to hold onto something in the van Carmen checked her gauntlet and saw that it was finally working. She scrolled thru her abilities before seeing a button showing a white portal symbol. After pressing the button she chose The Last Lotus as the end location. Suddenly her AI assistant, Prisma, showed up.
“Do you wish to create a portal to The Last Lotus?,” asked the AI.
“Yes please!,” pleaded Carmen.
The AI vanished and a portal popped up in front of the van.
“What the hell?,” says Inez, startled at the sudden appearance of the portal.
“That’s our ticket out of here!,”yelled Carmen over the rest as she tried to hear herself over the chaos.
Leilani directed the van towards the portal. The sight of incoming missiles from the military vehicles was terrifying.
“We’re not gonna make it!,” yelled Hoku. He hugged Laren in fear of the incoming missiles.
“Yes we are!,” Leilani made the van go full speed which allowed them to enter the portal in time. The portal closed before the missiles hit the road they were just on.
The team exited the portal and arrived at an empty field behind The Last Lotus. All of them were trying to catch their breaths from being scared out of their minds.
“That was so not okay,” says Laren.
“I think I’m going to have heart problems after this,” says Varian as he leaned on the wall of the van.
After a couple of seconds the group started to softly chuckle at them having just bested the cops.
“You know that was kind of fun,” says Enola with a smile.
“If we ever do that again I’m definitely going to do what Inez did and get a rocket launcher,” says Keito before chuckling.
“Yeah it’s always fun when you can make something go – boom!,” says Inez before making an explosion gesture with her hands.
A second after she talked a warning panel appeared in front of the van. It read “Warning: Condition Critical. Explosion Imminent. Countdown in 20, 19,..”
“Shit!,” says Carmen before she and the rest started to get out of the van. Carmen helped open the back door for the rest so they could exit the van. The group made their way a couple feet away from van before it suddenly exploded. As the remains of the van burned into ash the crew stared at the fire in horrified awe.
“Well that was close,” said Carmen relieved.
“Does this mean we can make s’mores? You k
A group of black helicopters could be seen in the sky chasing after the group. Spotlights were shined on the groups van causing some to squint due to the brightness.
“Oh fuck!,” said Varian in shock as the others stared at the helicopters in various forms of fear and annoyance.now as a victory party,” inqed Enola before she pulled out a stick from her infinite bag.
“Uh I guess. If that’s what you guys wanna do now. I no longer have the energy to say no at this point.”
Enola and Inez high fived each other in victory before turning to the rest.
“We making celebratory “We Got Away Alive” s’mores everybody! Does anybody have any marsh mellows by the way?,” asked Inez to the rest.
“Hoku do you have any marsh mellows from earlier left?,” asked Laren who appeared to look much better after the car chase ended.
Hoku just nodded slowly as he started to sway on his feet a bit. It appears he still wasn’t feeling well after everything.
“Yeah man let me just-,” said Hoku weakly.
Hoku suddenly fainted from the stress and fell into a nearby bush. The team looked over to him before looking at each other with concern.
Carmen watched the chaotic aftermath of her mission unfold in front of her as the team frantically try to put out the fire while others attempt to wake up a passed out Hoku. She inhaled deeply and released a long sigh filled with exhaustion.
“This is fine,”said Carmen to herself before she sees Varian fail at using the fire extinguisher and end up causing the canister to explode all over the team trying to put out the fire.
“Yeah this is no longer fine.”
