(Ben’s POV)

At the back of the arena, we stay here while waiting for our turn. They called our names one by one. But the strange thing is we didn't know what happened there and what happened to others. 

“Hey Ben… Do you think we can pass this test?” Uno asked while trembling

He’s afraid of what's gonna happen to us there.

“.... I don’t know. But I think we can.” I said to encourage him.

He smiled. But his smile has a lot of worry.

“A-Are we gonna die h-here?” Said the other trainee

“Y-you think so?” other one said

“I-I don’t wanna die!!” and the other one said

All of us are scared and worried about what will happen to us there. We don’t have any clue or any idea on what’s happening in the arena. If the persons who fought us first are alive or dead. 

The talks on the trainees stopped when Mr. Fred came.

“Come to the arena….. Jo–”

“Sir!!” Mr. Fred stopped his words when one of the trainees called him. Mr. Fred looked at him seriously.

“What is it?” he asked

“C-can I backed o-out?” The trainee said

The other trainees took the opportunity to agree on what the other trainee said.

“M-me too Sir!!” Many of them say that they want to back out and leave at the training grounds. 

Mr. Fred looked at them and asked “Are you all sure? When you decide to back out, there’s no coming back.” 

“Yes!” They all said.

Out of 50 trainees, 10 of us have fought in the arena and 37 trainees who backed out. Only 3 of us are left. Me, Uno and the girl who I didn’t know her name. 

When they left, Mr. Fred looked at us and he said to wait for him. The tension in the atmosphere is too intense. We don’t know what will happen to us. But I need to get there whatever happens to me and win every challenge they give me. This is not only for my sake, this is for the rest of every child who is trapped in that hellish orphanage.

Mr. Fred came back after a minute. We stood up and faced him.

“So… you three are the only ones who are willing to do this test?” he asked

“Yes, sir!” We said

“As if three of you are remaining, you three will go to the arena and choose your own weapons.” he said

“As in… all of us? Together in the arena?” Uno asked

“Yes. We decided that the three of you will enter together in the arena.” He said

We looked at each other as if this is the only time we will see each other.

“Let’s go. They’re waiting.” Mr. Fred said

We walked and came to the arena. As soon as we stepped on the ground we saw a lot of blood in the arena. As if they are fighting on the monsters. The sight of the arena gave goosebumps on my skin. As I looked at Uno, his face looked pale as if he saw a ghost. But the girl beside me is calm, no expression on her face. 

As I looked forward, at the center of the blood in front were the weapons. I can see the bad aura coming from the weapons. Each one of them emits a bad aura. 

“Everyone, choose your weapon now and see if that weapon is compatible with you. Be ready if the weapon is rejecting you.” Mr. Louise said

We reached the center and I saw how amazing those weapons are. First with small weapons to big weapons. I’ve never seen weapons before that’s why I’m clueless about them. 

Uno took a sword to him while the girl got the scythe. I'm amazed at how they easily picked up their weapons. As for me, I chose the dagger. Because a dagger can easily carry on. 

As soon as I pick it up, the bad aura overflows. A black smoke came out of the weapons we were holding and it looked like the shadows of the monster.

“Are you the one calling me?” the shadows asked us

“Yes.” We said

“Prove yourself.” they said and started attacking us.

(Uno’s POV)

As soon as we picked our weapons, the shadows came out from them. 

They are scarrrryyyy!! 

‘I don’t know how to fight!! What should I do?!’ I said to myself

“Are you the one calling me?” the shadows asked us

“Yes.” I just followed their answers

The shadow is looking at me scarily. 

So scarrryyyy!!

“Prove yourself.” they said and started attacking us.

As soon as the shadow of mine attacked me, I ran for my life. I can’t fight him head on so I find a place to hide. But that scary shadow destroyed the places I wanted to hide. Where should I go?

“Stupid human! Why are you running away?!” The shadow shout

“ ‘CAUSE YOU’RE SCARRRYYYY!!!” I cried 

“If you’re going to run, you are not the master I have been looking for!” He said angrily and he was about to attack me using his powers.

I couldn't avoid it so I blocked it with the sword and swung it on my right side. I don’t know what happened with my reflexes but somehow I feel overpowered when I use the sword. I looked at the shadow and I didn't like his expression. 

‘His smiling face is creepy as hell!!!!’ I said to myself.

And then he attacked me non stop by using his blue flame. I tried to avoid the flames but I think the sword can slash it. Because of my survival instincts, I dodged the attacks and slashed it. My movement is different from the training we had. I can dodge, slash and defend myself. 

“Is this the only thing you got?!” The shadow said

‘gaaahhh!! He wants more!!’ I said to myself fearly

Attacking him is not easy, especially when his movements are flexible. Whether I try to hide nor to run, he’s very fast. I’m just lucky we train to have better endurance when it comes to running. But I need to think about how to defeat it. 

After a minute of running, I saw a bucket on the table and it was full of water. I run into it and I slide my feet to get the water faster. When I reached the water I splashed it to the shadow.

“Fool! You think this will be enough?” the shadow said

After I splash it to him, I hurriedly step on the table where the bucket is and I followed the water that I splashed onto him. When he used his flames, I swung my sword from above to below and slash him. Before I slash him, I saw a glimpse of his creepy smile again. I got goosebumps when I saw his creepy smile.

After that attack, the shadow burned himself to the blue flame and that blue flame came to me like a tornado. My sword shined and sipped all the flames. 

When the flames were gone, I looked at my sword and the flames were there like they’re one. 

I’m amazed that I defeated that shadow. That means…..

“I passed, right?” I said
