Watcher of Galaxies : the Wishing Star

Night of festivity 2

Night of festivity 2

Nov 13, 2024

Rein placed the harness around Deedee's collar "How long to reach the city?"

"About two days," Eleanor replied.

After storing all their merchandise inside their carriage and checking their disguises, they hoped into their carriage. Kincade told Deedee to ran and their off to the city. Deedee was so fast, the carriage rattled due to the rough terrain, fortunately Sierra had anticipated it and fitted the carriage with the anti grav device. She pushed a button on the side and their began carriage floating, smoothing their ride. Few hours later, they finally left the forest and found a road.

Rein checked the map "We just need to follow this road, to the north."

Kincade nodded and gave the order to Deedee.

"Anyone hungry?" asked Kincade, he pointed at the container behind him "Dianna, I made a chocolate cake for you."

"Yay!" she raised her hands.

They ate while enjoying the scenery. Passing a local with his carriage, Rein greeted him but he just stared back at them, mouth agape looking at Deedee.

"Why he look at Deedee with that expression?" Rein wondered.

“Told you he’s not the same deer,” said Garland.

“Woah!” Kincade shouted “Deedee stop!”

The carriage stopped abruptly, causing Rein hit a box beside him.

“Ow..” Rose rubbing her head.

“Everyone alright?” asked Eleanor.

“My chocolate cake..” Dianna horrified, the cake fell to the floor.

“What the heck? Why you stop?” Sierra protested.

"What happened?" Rein asked.

"Some local. blocking our path," said Kincade.

Rein heard "Give us all your goods and the women!"

“Bandit?” Garland looked outside.

"Shall i remove them?" asked Kincade.

"Let me talk to them first," said Rein. He stepped out from the carriage

A group armed local had them surrounded. They showed off their weapon and making threats to skinned them alive, which made Kincade snickered.

"Can we help you?"

The armed locals shouted their demand again, but they were all petrified looking at Kincade and Fabian stepped down from the carriage. Despite trembling seeing the two giants in funny costumes, they still demanding to hand them their goods.

"Please.. just leave, we don't want trouble,"

One them threaten to skinned them alive but quickly hid beside his lackey when Kincade moved a bit. Rein got an idea, he asked Sierra the coin, he grinned at her. She also grinned before passing him a large bag full of coin. He throw the bag to the armed locals and asked them to leave. They were shocked seeing that many of coins inside. It seemed they about to asked for more, but was terrified when Kincade began striking his fist to his palm.

"Move along now," he shooed them.

Their leader away first

"Laban! don't leave us!"

The lackey scurried away following their leader. When they were out of sight, everyone laughed.

"I want to see their face when it gone under their nose," said Sierra.

"Nice one, boss."

“Alright! let’s continue heading to the city!” said Rein.

They hoped into their carriage and continued their journey. With Deedee running at maximum speed, they could reach the town sooner. Fabian told Rein and the other to take some rest while he, Kincade and Garland stayed on guard. Rein thanked them before laying down and closed his eyes.

"Rein, wake up.."

Someone poked his back. Rein opened his eyes and looked around, it was Eleanor.

"Where are the other?" he noticed the carriage was empty.

"They're outside," she said.

Rein exited the carriage and helped Eleanor stepped down. The others stood beside the Deedee, waiting for their turn to entered the city, it seemed they were gathering a lot of attention. The locals were staring at them especially at Rose, Kincade, and Fabian, also at Deedee. A while later, it's finally their turn. The guards were at first taken a back seeing them before asking them to showed them their permit. Rein handed them their card.

One the guard asked "Are you a foreign merchant?" looking at their hair.

Rein looked around, he just noticed all the locals have dark hair color.

"Yes, we're from- uhmm.." Rein looking at his friends.

"Is something wrong?" asked the guard.

"Uh, we're from-"

"A kingdom called Luxor," blurted Kincade.

"Luxor?" he asked the guard beside him "Did you know where it is?"

The other guard waved him off, he was still busy examining their card.

"It's on a land further south," Kincade added.

"There's a kingdom beyond Korqu?"

"Yes, it's a small kingdom, but it's beautiful,"

“Wow, i see.. ” the guard seemed interested "By the way, that's really good costumes..” looking at Kincade, Garland and Fabian “Are you joining the contest?”

"Minha, quit bothering them, if you done, go check other carriage," scolded the other guard before returning their card "All good, welcome to the capital."

"Thank you," replied Rein.

"Wait, that’s a unique looking Xinrin," the guard starring at Deedee “But.. why is it familiar..”

"We borrowed from a village on our way," Rein smiled nervously “They offered us their best breed after paying a handsome of coin.”

"I see.." he still staring at Deedee before letting them entered the gate.

"Please follow that sign, it will lead you to the town square," the guard at the gate pointing at a wooded sign, "Then bring your.. Xinrin to the designated stable."

They followed the sign passing several residential home made of stones and clay with wooden rooftop; Garland and Dianna were busy taking picture with their hidden cameras. The local children was waving enthusiastically at Kincade, Garland and Fabian.

"Why they're not waving at me?" Rose disappointed.

"Maybe.. because of the costume?" Dianna tilting her head.

"Kuhhh, i should've wear a costume too!"

Kincade waved back at the kid. Fabian took one of their bag filled with candies before getting down from the carriage to distributed it to the kids; Garland and Eleanor having trouble holding Rose back, her eyes sparkling seeing those kids; Laylah was hiding under a blanket. When they continued heading to the town square, some of local kids hopped into their cart. No one was able to stopped Rose from pinching their cheek, but they were glad the kids seemed happy when she did that.

At the town square, the guards stopped the kids from entering, Locals were of limit until it opened time, only merchants were allowed to be there. Rein told the guards the kids were here to helped them setting up the stall which the guards finally relented and allowed them.

“Thank you,” Rein nodded at them.

"Hey, where should i park?" asked Kincade.

Rein looked around. He saw an empty lot under the shade "There."

"Okay!" Kincade ordered Deedee.

Rein hopped out from the carriage as soon as they arrived at the location. Garland and Dianna took Deedee to the designated stable while they unloaded their merchandise and began setting up their stall with the help of the kids.

“Rein! careful with that vase!” Sierra horrified.

Rein accidentally knocked a vase from the display, fortunately Fabian managed to catch it.

“Where should i put this hairpin?” asked Eleanor.

“There i think..” said Rose.

“Laylah help me push the cart a bit..” said Kincade “We need more space..”

Some times later, they finally finished with their stall. Thanking the kids, Rose gave each of them butterfly shaped bracelet and hairpin as a gift before telling them to returned to their home. The kid waved back at them as they left.

“What time the festival will be opened?” Rein asked.

“It says it start when the Qiall crowed,” Fabian looked at the sign.

“Qiall?” asked Sierra.

Asha talked over the comm “It is a cat like creature, whenever it crows, it signal the morning or evening has come.”

“I see, thank you Asha,” said Rein.

Not long later, Garland and Dianna finally returned.

"Took you long?"

"Deedee scares the other deer.." said Dianna.

Garland sighed "The guards told us to bring him to a remote stable, outside the city."
