William manages to get up amid the chaos, conjuring another slash of purple flames that cut through the ground and anything in front of him!
Marco also gets to his feet, and through the smoke, he sees only a purple light approaching. He instantly realizes it’s the flames that could burn his very skin!
At this tense moment, Marco's heart races, his mind fixed on a single action: defending himself. The violet flame advances, filling the surrounding air with a dark and menacing glow. The intense light of the flames reflects in Marco's determined eyes, making him acutely aware of the gravity of the situation.
With no other choice, he tries to mitigate the impact by launching a barrage of red flames. However, his flames are obliterated by the advancing purple fire!
The clash of opposing energies creates a burst of light and heat, causing the environment to tremble from the violence of the encounter.
Marco is hurled back, engulfed in the ravenous flames that swirl around him!
The impact sends him flying backward, his body consumed by the relentless fire. The searing pain is overwhelming, but his resolve remains unshaken. Drawing on his inner strength, he forces himself to stand once more.
Perhaps it's due to his fire-based magic that he can withstand the dragon's flames better; anyone else would take much longer to adjust to the heat as Marco’s body does.
Light then leaps from the roof, forming a bolt of lightning in his right hand, resembling an electrified arrow.
Marco struggles to get up, but Light hurls the thunderous arrow at him. Reacting purely on instinct, Marco throws himself backward, narrowly avoiding the attack. The lightning strikes the ground, shattering it apart.
He believes he’s safe, but as the lightning dissipates into the earth, it triggers a shockwave that radiates through the ground and hits Marco, delivering a powerful shock from the inside out.
Light doesn’t fully understand the mechanics of his Thunder Magic, but he had an abstract idea of concentrating mana in his hand, resulting in the generation of lightning.
"Impressive," Light mutters as his feet touch the ground, halting the attack. "How was that shockwave generated? I could feel the mana spreading along with the electricity—maybe it’s connected..." he ponders.
As Light is lost in thought, William rushes past him like a gale. His sword emits a shimmering aura that fluctuates between green and red, shifting colors in a mesmerizing display.
Marco remains immobilized, paralyzed by the previous shock. His muscles refuse to respond to his commands, leaving him helpless.
William continues his rapid advance, closing in with a burst of speed. When he reaches Marco, he strikes upward, channeling his strength from the ground and releasing it in an upward slash. The sword's aura leaves a glowing trail in its wake.
Marco, regaining partial control of his body, barely manages to dodge, but the blade grazes his chest, leaving a shallow cut. He repositions himself and resumes the duel with William. This time, it’s clear that William has the upper hand. His attacks are sharper, and his defense remains solid.
Marco feels overwhelmed, unable to counterattack, as his battered body is on the brink of collapse. William lands several blows that, while not deep, unsettle his opponent and keep him on edge.
"I need to retreat!" Marco thinks desperately. "At this rate, I’m going to—"
Suddenly, Light appears in a flash, holding the same bolt of lightning as before, wielding it like a blade. He plunges it into Marco’s stomach with the force of a dagger!
Marco is flung into a nearby watchtower, crashing into the solid stone blocks, shattering them as he’s hurled into the structure.
Light and William take a moment to catch their breath, exhausted from their efforts. Silence settles over the area, and dust hangs in the air.
The brothers move together to locate their fallen adversary. Approaching the hole created by Light’s attack, they enter a disordered and darkened room.
"Do you still have enough mana?" William asks.
"I think I can last a bit longer," Light replies.
As they peer into the darkness, they notice butterflies emerging from the shadows, their wings glowing faintly orange, blending with the black spots on their delicate bodies.
"Incinerate!" Marco’s voice suddenly echoes from the darkness!
"Watch out!" William yells, shoving Light aside, but it's too late. The seemingly harmless butterflies explode like dynamite.
Light is partially caught in the blast, slamming into the wall of the neighboring house, while William is thrown backward, taking the full force of the explosion head-on.
