"Director." The on-duty attendant, Uncle Li, on the fourth floor greeted respectfully.
"Who's in there?" Instructor Jiang Nian asked, hearing the sharp sounds coming from the nearby martial arts hall. The sounds were clearly the piercing whistles produced by weapons slicing through the air at incredible speed. Just from hearing this, it was obvious it was at a warrior's level.
"It's Luo Feng," Uncle Li replied with a smile.
"Luo Feng?" Instructor Jiang Nian smiled slightly and walked toward the martial arts hall.
Standing at the entrance, Instructor Jiang Nian watched as Luo Feng continuously practiced each move of his basic knife techniques inside, each strike as precise as a textbook demonstration. Sometimes he stood in place swinging, and other times he performed swift maneuvers, running, dodging, and retreating while slashing with his Blood Shadow Battle Blade. His movements were impressively fluid.
"Hmm, he has a very solid foundation." Instructor Jiang Nian couldn’t help but nod in approval, praising him silently. "A good foundation is essential for future knife training. No obvious weaknesses – quite impressive."
The more he watched, the more satisfied he became.
"Ah, Instructor!" Luo Feng noticed Instructor Jiang Nian only after turning around and quickly stopped.
Instructor Jiang Nian walked in with a smile. "Luo Feng, your blade skills are good. You must have started training young, right?"
"Yeah, when I was young, before I could join a martial arts school, I would swing the blade around on my own at home just for fun," Luo Feng replied with a grin. Instructor Jiang Nian nodded in satisfaction, but then his smile froze. His face turned blank as he stared at the Blood Shadow Battle Blade in Luo Feng’s hand, his eyes widening in shock.
"Instructor, Instructor?" Luo Feng was startled by his expression.
"You, you…" Instructor Jiang Nian stared at Luo Feng in disbelief. "Were you just swinging the 101-kilogram Blood Shadow Battle Blade?"
"Yes, yes," Luo Feng replied, a bit taken aback.
Instructor Jiang Nian shook his head in amazement. "Impossible… impossible… how could this be…" But then his eyes began to shine as if he was looking at a priceless treasure. "Luo Feng, go over to the punching power testing machine. Quick, give it a punch and let me see just how much punching power you have right now!"
"When Luo Feng last took the prospective fighter assessment, his punch force was only around 1,100 kilograms. Yet, in just a few days, he can now easily wield the 101-kilogram Blood Shadow Blade, swinging it with astonishing speed. Has his strength multiplied several times over?" Instructor Jiang Nian took a deep breath.
Ever since becoming an instructor at the dojo, Jiang Nian's "dojo contribution points" had been accumulating at a very slow rate.
The fighters in the Extreme Dojo greatly valued their contribution points, and the quickest way to increase them was by hunting monsters. However, it had been a long time since Jiang Nian had gone monster hunting.
"If I'm not mistaken, Luo Feng’s speed in cultivating genetic energy must far surpass the average fighter," Jiang Nian thought to himself. "Perhaps he even qualifies for headquarters to send someone over. If I can help Luo Feng advance, not only will I earn contribution points, but I’ll also gain prestige among the other instructors!"
Jiang Nian couldn't help but feel excited.
"Luo Feng, give it your all and punch with full force!" Jiang Nian ordered.
"Yes, Instructor."
Luo Feng stepped up to the punch strength tester, taking a deep breath as he thought, "Compared to my telekinetic ability, my punches and blade techniques are still a bit behind." Without intending to hide his strength, he simply adjusted his breathing, then in a split second, he exerted his full body strength, his spine arching like a bow.
Boom~~~
His fist struck the target like a missile, causing the punch tester to shudder.
“Beep!”
"What's the reading?" Jiang Nian rushed over to check the display on the punch tester, and Luo Feng also looked eagerly, curious to see his current punch force.
The display clearly showed the number: "3109 kg."
"3109 kilograms?" Jiang Nian gasped, staring at Luo Feng as if he were a monster.
Luo Feng himself was taken aback by the number. His punch strength had increased significantly: "During my last assessment, my strength was around 1,100 kilograms. After my first genetic energy training, it likely increased to around 1,500-1,800 kilograms. But then my abilities awakened, and my body evolved, reaching 3,109 kilograms?"
Ever since that awakening, Luo Feng had felt a significant boost in physical strength, but he hadn't had a precise measure.
"Luo Feng, did you successfully train your genetic energy?" Jiang Nian quickly asked.
"Yes, Instructor. After my assessment, I tried cultivating genetic energy for the first time, and I succeeded that night," Luo Feng nodded.
Jiang Nian couldn’t contain his excitement, clapping his hands together. "Haha, our Yi’an District Extreme Dojo finally has a true prodigy. Increasing from 1,100 to over 3,100 kilograms on your first attempt is extraordinary. In the entire Jiangnan region, there might only be one or two like you each year!"
From birth until their first genetic energy training, a person’s body is unaccustomed to absorbing genetic energy. Having gone without it for over a decade, the first training session usually brings the most significant improvement.
Starting from the second session onward, each subsequent improvement becomes smaller, requiring consistent practice over the years. Moreover, the level of improvement from that first training indicates a person's potential. If one’s strength increases by around 300 kilograms, it’s fairly common; a 600-kilogram increase is excellent.
Over 1,000 kilograms would mark someone as elite.
And Luo Feng? He exceeded 2,000 kilograms. That’s a genius!
"Luo Feng, let’s test your speed next, and then your nerve response," Jiang Nian seemed to be testing a precious gem, eager to see its full brilliance.
“Yes, Instructor.” Luo Feng felt excited as well.
The assessment results came quickly:
Punch Force — 3109 kg!
Speed — 58 m/s!
Nerve Response Test — Warrior level, beginner full score! Intermediate warrior level, excellent!
"Haha, it seems we have a monster here in Yi'an District," Jiang Nian's face flushed with excitement as he looked at the nerve response test results, then he patted Luo Feng's shoulder. "Luo Feng, from now on, I’ll be counting on you to help me rack up some dojo contribution points."
Luo Feng only grinned.
"With your level of improvement, our Extreme Dojo can allow you to join early," Jiang Nian said excitedly. "You won’t have to wait until you pass the practical fighter exam; we can let you join now!"
"Join the Extreme Dojo early?" Luo Feng was puzzled.
Typically, only official fighters had the qualification to join different organizations.
"Luo Feng, you came up through the Yi’an District Extreme Dojo, and I’m sort of your guide," Jiang Nian patted his shoulder and smiled. "I won’t lie to you. Your genetic energy training alone raised your punch strength by over 2,000 kilograms, with equally impressive speed and nerve response. I’d rate your talent as genius-level, or perhaps even monster-level. Out of the 200 million people in Jiangnan, one or two of these talents might appear each year."
Luo Feng chuckled to himself… Monster-level?
Others might not understand, but Luo Feng knew that his first round of genetic energy training had only increased his punch strength by about 600 kilograms. It was his awakened abilities that had caused the additional leap.
But of course, Jiang Nian wouldn’t guess that. For most fighters, the greatest surge in strength was their first genetic energy training session.
"With your talent, when you eventually take the practical fighter assessment, you’ll attract attention from the Thunder Dojo, underground alliances, and various families who will all try to recruit you. They’ll probably entice you with a range of benefits," Jiang Nian chuckled.
Luo Feng realized that such a rare talent, appearing once a year in a region with 200 million people, would indeed attract various factions.
"So joining now would be best, right?" Jiang Nian grinned. "And don’t worry, the Extreme Dojo won’t skimp on the benefits! Normally, fighters joining the dojo receive a villa and a million Huaxia currency as starting funds. Don’t underestimate the money; battle gear, weapons, techniques, even some firearms, and hiring experts for private instruction—all cost money."
Luo Feng nodded.
"For someone with your talent, we’d offer not only a villa but also 20 million in starting funds, which you can use to buy gear. Additionally, the dojo would gift you a set of guidance techniques, blade techniques, and movement techniques. As long as these are valued under 50 million in total, you can have them free of charge; if they exceed that amount, you would cover the excess."
Luo Feng held his breath.
Wow!
Normal fighters get about a million, but he was being offered nearly 70 million, considering the value of the techniques.
"The techniques alone would cost twice as much if bought elsewhere," Jiang Nian explained. "Of course, to buy high-grade techniques, you’ll need contribution points. But this first gift comes without that requirement."
Luo Feng was impressed—Extreme Dojo’s offer was generous.
"All our terms for talented fighters are the same," Jiang Nian smiled. "In the dojo, you’ll receive help from other fighters, and occasionally, our founder, the world’s strongest fighter, Hong, will instruct the true elites."
Having lived in this era, Luo Feng understood well the influence of Extreme Dojo.
Joining them was certainly a good choice.
"Alright, Instructor, I agree," Luo Feng nodded.
"Haha." Jiang Nian chuckled. "Of course, I’m not authorized to approve your membership directly. Only headquarters can review a monster-level candidate like you." He pulled out his phone and said, "Headquarters," initiating the call.
Soon after, a figure appeared on the phone screen.
"Jiang Nian, what is it?" An elderly man with graying hair smiled.
"Uncle Bai," Jiang Nian said, brimming with excitement. "I’ve discovered a genius-level candidate here in Yi'an District. His first genetic energy training boosted his punch strength by 2,000 kilograms. His speed is 58 meters per second, and his nerve response test at the intermediate warrior level scored as excellent! He’s definitely a monster-level talent."
"Really?" The gray-haired elder was stunned. "He increased over 2,000 kilograms on his first training session? And how old is he?"
The younger the age, the more valuable the prospect.
"18 years old!" Jiang Nian said quickly.
"What, only 18?" The elder sprang up. "Bring him to headquarters immediately! I’ll arrange for his assessment."
"Right, we’ll go right now."
Jiang Nian ended the call, grinning as he looked at Luo Feng. "Luo Feng, come with me to headquarters now."
"Yes, Instructor. I’ll put away the Blood Shadow Blade and the Hexagonal Shield in the armory," Luo Feng started, but Jiang Nian grabbed him, urging, "Leave it! Let’s go now; no time to waste."
With that, Jiang Nian dragged Luo Feng towards the stairs, instructing as they went, "Old Li, I’ll be busy for the day. Cancel my evening classes."
"Yes, Chief Instructor." Li nodded.
And before his words even settled, Jiang Nian and Luo Feng were already out of sight.
