For the next three hours, the train followed the rails back to Fluvaria. Many people were riding it, all of them with varying destinations in mind. Some of the passengers admired the scenery the train passed by, while others talked about the things that had happened during their day. Elsa was not one of those people. Instead, she sat on her chair, lost in her thoughts. She has so many questions. Why would she do something like this? How could she be so upfront about it? Perhaps there was a mistake during the fingerprint scan? These questions were the only things Elsa focused on during the ride.
The train conductor walked down the aisle and punched holes in everyone’s ticket. When he got to Elsa she didn’t even notice his presence until he started to speak. “Excuse me, mam, may I have your ticket?” he asked. Hearing his voice brought her back to the present and she quickly passed him her ticket. “Yeah, sure,” answered Elsa, pretending not to be troubled. Once her ticket had been punched, she went back to sitting with her thoughts.
Eventually, the train arrived in Fluvaria. Once it stopped, everyone got out, including Elsa. After leaving the train station, she immediately headed home. Fifteen minutes later, Elsa reached Gynatru Street, a narrow street with a grassy verge. She walked down the road to her house. It was a small brick house with a metal roof. There was also a lot of greenery and pottery outside. The most notable items were a couple of peacock-shaped ornaments, which were placed to grab people’s attention and bring character to the area. She reached the front door and went inside.
“Hi, Elsa,” greeted Mildred. She was Elsa’s mother and was currently relaxing on the couch. She had short ginger hair and was wearing a lavender jersey, along with some grey trousers and some white shoes. “Hi, Mum,” replied Elsa. “Did your trip go well?” asked Mildred. “Yeah, it did. We just went to a restaurant and talked about stuff,” answered Elsa. “Was the food nice?” asked Mildred. “Yeah. I had some sausages with mushrooms and mashed potatoes,” answered Elsa. “I also had a vanilla milkshake,” she added. During the conversation, she tried to appear calm as if nothing had happened. She went to her room and tried to take her mind off the incident. But no matter what she did, the thoughts lingered in her mind like a bunch of parasites. Eventually, she realised that she couldn’t bottle up her feelings any longer.
Elsa went to her mother. “Mum, can we talk?” she asked. “It’s something personal,” she added. “Sure,” replied Mildred. “What do you want to talk about?” asked Mildred. “You see, my friends and I have been trying to find a hacker’s identity for the past week or two,” explained Elsa. “Why have you been doing that?” asked Mildred. “Because we’re a crime-fighting team, and we investigated several people in the hope of finding something,” replied Elsa. “Today, two of my friends discovered some gloves after they explored a manhole, and after the police scanned them for fingerprints we finally found out who it was,” replied Elsa. “Who was it?” asked Mildred. “You’re not going to believe this, but it’s Julia,” answered Elsa. Contrary to what Elsa expected, Mildred was not shocked by the news. Instead, she seemed to be disappointed.
“Is everything okay?” asked Elsa. “I can’t believe she actually did it,” muttered Mildred. “What do you mean?” asked Elsa. “Back when I was your age, Julia and I didn’t know what we wanted out of our lives, but she had great ambitions to become rich and successful,” explained Mildred. “She attended prestige classes in college and always studied hard to ensure she got the best possible grades. After that, she went to university and tried to get as many degrees as she could. Julia also theorised about many alternative ways to accomplish her goal, and one of them was to become a hacker,” she added. “She always talked about the skills she would learn and the cash that would come her way. I think she even attended digital technology classes at university,” explained Mildred. “Why didn’t you tell me about this?” asked Elsa. “We were so young back then I thought she had outgrown that idea, and I never thought she would actually do something like this,” explained Mildred, with a little bit of panic.
After a couple of seconds, she reverted back to her calm self. “I’m very sorry. I should have warned you about Julia,” stated Mildred. “It’s okay. You didn’t know she would be a threat, none of us did,” replied Elsa. “Now that we know she’s the hacker, what do we do?” she asked. “If I were you, I would just report her to the police,” suggested Mildred. “No way. Julia would kill me if I did that. I think it would be best if my friends and I confronted her,” she added. “Are you sure?” asked Mildred. “I’m on good terms with her, maybe I can convince her to stop doing this,” suggested Elsa. “Besides, there’s still a lot I don’t know about this situation,” she added. “If you insist,” responded Mildred with uncertainty. She wasn’t on board with her daughter’s idea, but she thought it would be best to leave the situation in her hands. “Thanks for the talk. I knew I could trust you with this,” stated Elsa. “No problem, come to me again if you need anything,” replied Mildred. She left the room and went off to make dinner.
Meanwhile, Elsa grabbed her phone and sent a message to the other Braw Agents. Hi guys. Since we now know who the hacker is, I was thinking we could confront her tomorrow, suggested Elsa in her message. Within a couple of seconds, she received a response from all of the Braw Agents. Sounds good. I know where her base is, replied Narvy. Where is it? asked Elsa. I’ll show you tomorrow, wrote Narvy. It’s under a manhole in Bytari, he added. Okay. I’ll meet you guys at the train station, replied Elsa. I’ve got something better in mind, Narvy wrote. Remember the telecoin? Yes, Elsa messaged back. I have one now, and we can use it to get to Bytari,” wrote Narvy. Let’s all meet at The Engineering Club tomorrow, he added. How did you get a telecoin? Elsa messaged. It’s a long story, but let’s just say the police were collecting some items and I politely asked if I could have it, wrote Narvy. Even though Narvy and Elsa were the ones sending messages, Bobby, Hannah, Edward, and Rita were still paying attention to the conversation. They all agreed with what Narvy suggested and everything was settled.
Once that was done, everyone left the chat. Shortly after, Elsa turned her phone off and put it away. She decided to spend the rest of her day flicking through her magazines. She didn’t know how her friends were going to spend the rest of their day, but she knew exactly what they were going to do tomorrow.
After defeating the stone warriors, the Braw Agents have been invited to the prestigious Ball of Honour, a place filled with benevolent people, or so they think. During the event, a disaster breaks loose and reveals one of the guests to be a hacker. Can the Braw Agents unmask this secret crime lord?
