After a long dark night, a new day arose in Fluvaria. It was currently 11:00 am. Everyone was awake, and they were all going about their business. Some people stayed at home while others attended work. But the Braw Agents had something completely different in mind. They planned on executing the scheme they had thought of the day prior. Narvy was the first one to arrive at The Engineering Club. Bobby, Hannah, Edward, Rita, and Elsa showed up not long after. They all carried the weapons Oliver Sonarsmith and Narvy had made for them to fight the stone warriors during the Maioura Invasion. “Where’s the telecoin?” asked Hannah. “It’s right here,” answered Narvy, as he grabbed it out of the drawer. Without hesitation, he pressed the button and allowed himself to become a glowing silhouette. The same thing happened to the other Braw Agents. While they were in this form everyone was connected by strands of light. After a couple of seconds, they all disappeared.
A second later in the middle of Bytari, the same process took place but in reverse; six glowing silhouettes became the solid forms of the Braw Agents “Okay, Bobby and I have been here before, just follow us,” explained Narvy. The Braw Agents embarked on their journey to the manhole. The skyscrapers towered over them as they walked through the streets. Eventually, they found the alleyway they were looking for. It was exactly how Bobby and Narvy had previously seen it. Small, narrow, and home to the strange manhole. Narvy approached the lid and unlocked it with ease. He then grabbed a small torch and shone it into the hole. “I don’t know if you can see it, but there’s a ladder down there,” stated Narvy. “It’s quite far down, so be careful and take your time if you have to,” he added.
One by one, the Braw Agents made their way to the bottom of the manhole. Since she was the last one to climb down, Rita replaced the lid over the entrance behind her. “Okay, the base is a twenty-minute walk from here,” explained Narvy. “There are a few obstacles, but Bobby and I know how to get past them. Also, watch out for puddles and crevasses,” he added. The Braw Agents walked down the dingy brick tunnel. Throughout the journey, everyone’s mind was on autopilot, due to the fact Bobby and Narvy had previously been there. Eventually, they made it to the set of five doors. “Door four is the correct one,” stated Narvy. Without hesitation, the Braw Agents opened the door and walked through it.
Unlike last time, the room was already lit when they entered, and they weren’t the only ones there. A person was sitting on the chair working at the computer. Upon noticing the Braw Agents they immediately minimised their tabs and turned around. They were wearing a black hooded jumpsuit, along with a pair of black tactical gloves and black leather boots. Their face was completely hidden under a white ceramic mask with green eyes and a few black markings. “Oh, look who showed up,” said the person, in a deep, distorted voice. “We know it’s you, Julia, you can take the mask off,” replied Bobby.
He was proven correct. When the person removed their mask and pulled down their hood, Julia’s face appeared. “What brings you here today?” she said in her normal voice. “As you can tell by the weapons, we’re here to put an end to your crime business,” explained Bobby. “That’s fine. I knew you guys would catch onto me eventually, so I got myself prepared,” replied Julia. “What do you mean by that?” asked Bobby. “I’ve been a hacker for three months now,” explained Julia. “When I saw you guys at the Ball of Honour, I knew I had to get more strategic with my schemes, so I hijacked the elevator in an effort to slow you down,” she added. “That didn’t do much,” interrupted Edward. “Sometimes the smallest things can make a big difference,” explained Julia. “I’m just glad my niece was on your team; that definitely made things easier,” she added.
“How so?” asked Elsa. “We’re so close and we’ve done so much together, surely you’d want to be with me?” replied Julia. “No, I joined this team for a reason,” replied Elsa. “If you want to be with me, how about you stop this and join us as an ally,” she added. “My mother’s friend is already doing that,” commented Bobby. “I don’t think you understand what you’re missing out on,” stated Julia. “I’m not missing out on anything,” replied Elsa as she grabbed her machete. The rest of the Braw Agents drew their weapons.
“If you want a fight I’m more than happy to give you one,” said Julia, as she pulled something out of a nearby box. It was a sword with a black handle and a long silver blade. It also had a bright green streak running down the blade. “What is that?” demanded Bobby. “It’s the Cyber Blade,” answered Julia. “I got it from Bytari’s Department of Valuable Artefacts last week,” she boasted.
The Cyber Blade was a weapon created by Tane Dorford in order to test the limits of technology and swordcraft. It had many functions, such as a USB port and a blade that didn’t chip or go blunt. It was deemed too dangerous to be within public reach, so it was locked away in a place where nobody could get to it.
“But the Department of Valuable Artefacts is in Fluvaria,” commented Bobby. “It’s a nationwide organisation. They have hubs in every major city,” explained Narvy. “Alright. Six of us, one of you. Let’s do this,” exclaimed Rita.
At that moment, the fight began. As Julia defended herself from Bobby, she grabbed a remote from a drawer. Upon pressing it, a bunch of small robotic beings crawled out of an underground compartment and invaded the floor. The Braw Agents all tried to charge at Julia, but the ground was almost impossible to navigate. “What did you do?” demanded Hannah. “These are beetle droids,” answered Julia. “Thanks to these things I managed to steal countless files, hijack an elevator and obtain the Cyber Blade without getting caught,” she added. The Braw Agents spent the next couple of minutes destroying the beetle droids. Strangely enough, their weapons didn’t seem to cause any damage. Every time one of the beetle droids got crushed, they got back up and continued being pests.
Eventually, Narvy looked at the computer and formed an idea. He managed to run through the ocean of tiny robots. But once he got there, Julia came around and prevented him from touching it. “I knew what you were going to do,” stated Julia. “What was I going to do?” asked Narvy. “You were going to try to damage my business in some way,” answered Julia. “You’re right,” replied Narvy. What followed was a one-on-one fight between Narvy and Julia. Narvy shot arrows from his crossbow, while Julia blocked them with the Cyber Blade. Halfway into the fight, something fell out of Narvy’s pocket. It was the telecoin. Julia immediately grabbed it. “I’ve always wanted one of these,” she muttered. As soon as he realised Julia had the telecoin Narvy tried to take it off her while continuing to fight her. Three minutes later, Julia grabbed her remote again and pressed a different button. This time, a good chunk of the beetle droids crawled up the computer setup and shrouded it in their bodies. “You want to go on the computer? Now you can,” snarled Julia.
At that moment, she turned to the other Braw Agents. They were still defending themselves from the swarm of beetle droids. She put her mask back on and pulled up her hood. Without hesitation, she walked up to Elsa. “I think it’s best we settle things privately,” suggested Julia, in her distorted voice. Just then, Julia grabbed on to Elsa and pressed the button on the telecoin. The Braw Agents noticed the events unfolding, but Narvy was trying to get to the computer and the others were dealing with the robotic pests. The two of them became connected by light particles and were masked in a glowing aura before vanishing from the room.
After defeating the stone warriors, the Braw Agents have been invited to the prestigious Ball of Honour, a place filled with benevolent people, or so they think. During the event, a disaster breaks loose and reveals one of the guests to be a hacker. Can the Braw Agents unmask this secret crime lord?
