The whole crowd stood quiet. None understood what they had just seen. A single punch and it was over. A punch that wasn’t even fueled by magic.
After the shock ran out of her, Nadia turned to the dealer, a smug smile plastered on her face.
"So, I believe you owe me some information now, don’t you?"
The man stood stunned, He looked pale, like if he had seen something he wished he wouldn’t have. He didn’t even look at her when he answered.
"S-Some blonde kid came in here earlier today. Before we were open to the public. He was with some weird dressed up dudes pushing around crates." he started.
"I-I can’t be for certain, but I heard them talking about angel eyes in some context." he said.
Nadia stood thinking for a moment.
"A blonde guy?" she muttered, before a memory resurfaced.
"This guy. Did he have a faint scar going down his left eye?" she asked.
The man gave her a nod.
"Did you see where they were going? or if he is still here?" she then asked.
"Nah sorry. He entered some meeting with the top brass here in the den. But if you want that info, then I suggest you talk to him." he said, pointing to the man on the cage.
Then without another word, Nadia started to walk towards the cage. As she left, she could have sworn she heard the man say something under his breath.
"... El bárbaro..." she heard.
Paying it no mind, she continued to the cage.
Hector was just getting out of the cage.
"Got anything?" he asked.
"Think so. But I just want to see if I can get anything more." she responded before walking up to the man with the mephistopheles.
"Excuse me, Sir." she said.
"Me?" he asked, not even looking at her.
His mephistopheles turned to face her.
"What do you want, girl?" he asked his accent thick.
"I want to make a bet." Nadia said, getting straight to the point.
The crowd went silent. All now stared at them.
"Bet?" he asked, now turning to face her, a crooked smile plastered on his lips.
"Yes. I want to know some specific information I heard you might know." Nadia spoke, determination in her eye.
The man looked towards Hector before turning back to Nadia. His smile growing wider.
"You came in with one hit wonder, correct?" he asked.
"Yes..." Nadia told him, searching his eyes for where he was going.
The tall man stood quiet for a moment. His gaze continued to move from Nadia to Hector and back to Nadia. Like if he was trying to search for something.
"What is it you seek?" the man then asked.
Nadia looked around before answering. Not sure if it would be so good to outright say her needs to the public. The crowd was now silent, all eyes on them.
She bit her tongue and risked it.
"I'm looking to know more about the ones spreading Angel eyes around the island. And I want exactly anything you know about who they are, where they ship it to, who their connections are, etcetera. Give me everything you know." Nadia spoke in a demanding tone.
As she spoke about Angel eyes, the crowd directly turned their eyes away, acting like they weren’t listening.
But the man with the mephistopheles only seemed to be more excited.
"Alright. I can do that." he said, a small cackle echoing out after he spoke.
"If one hit wonder over there can win 50 matches without using magic to attack or defend, then I shall tell what I know." the man said.
"And if he doesn’t. If I sense a hint of yade leaking out from him then I want your souls." the man said.
"O-our souls?" Nadia let out.
"Yes. You brought quite the exceptional fighter with you. He took down one of my strongest contestants with one punch, without magic either. And I think, with the expensive information you are after, that this arrangement will be more than sufficient." he said.
Nadia looked towards Hector. His eyes showed immense fear and pressure for Nadia’s sake. He slowly shook his head, and Nadia was going to decline, but what the man said next made her reconsider.
"Of course, it is okay to decline, but I will tell my associate about students from Elysium going snooping around in their private affairs." the man said.
"And I think we can both see how that would just worsen your situation, Miss Nadia." the man continued.
"H-how did you?" she stumbled on her words.
The man scratched the chin of the mephistopheles siting on his shoulder.
"Imp here can see anything about anyone with those eyes of his. So, I know most about you two, Nadia Odeh and Hector Ramos." he said.
"I know all you have done." he said, his eyes glancing towards Hector.
"So, what do you say? Are you fine with the terms of our bet?" he asked.
Even though she was terrified about the implications about what would happen to them if the man won something about her current situation filled her drive to continue.
She hesitated a second before taking his hand.
"Y-yes, mister?" she asked as the magic chains formed around their hands.
"Wojciech." he said.
Looking back to Hector, who now seemed extremely worried, she placed her hand on his shoulder and said.
"I believe in you."
On the other side of the leviathan’s den, sitting at a poker table, where a man with now neatly combed brown hair with seemingly less tattoos than before on his arms, and next to him, a woman with darker orange hair and a nice dress.
"JACKPOT!" Jimmy screamed out in joy after winning yet another all-in poker match.
"Well, gentlemen, you really are bad at this." Jimmy laughed, taking in his earnings before leaving.
As they were leaving, Jimmy held his arm towards the table to let the ink he had formed as an eye to spy on his opponent’s cards back onto him. Making sure the others at the table wouldn’t notice.
Around the table they were just at, sat businessmen and shareholders in different companies now with much emptier pockets. They sat in defeat as they watched Jimmy and Amelia walk away.
"You think we should start looking into the drug situation now?" Amelia then asked.
"Yeah, I had my fun." Jimmy said before putting his hand towards a wall and letting most of the ink on his arm move off him and onto the wall.
The ink took the shapes of eyes and ears just big enough that he could hear but not so big to be easily spotted.
The ink constructions then scattered away to observe and listen in to more secretive conversations.
"Step one done." he then said.
As the two were starting their plans, Amelia noticed some familiar faces walk up to them. It was Abigail and Nicholas.
"And there is step two." Amelia spoke.
Abigale and Nicholas looked at each other confused.
"Step two?" Abigail asked.
"Fancy pants, you’re pretty well known, right?" Amelia asked without even acknowledging Abigail's question.
"I'm guessing fancy pants." Nicholas sighed.
Amelia only smiled.
"Yeah, most would say so." Nicholas rubbed his eyes with a groan.
"Perfect, we will have to use that for the plan." Amelia said.
"And what is the plan?" Nicholas asked.
"You'll see." Amelia winked.
Amelia then turned to Jimmy, who stood leaning against the wall, eyes closed, and focusing hard on something.
His eyes moved intensely under his eyelids until he stopped. Now seemingly focused on a singular thing. He formed a smile of chaotic excitement.
"Bingo."
"Two men, top shelf outfits, just walked into a private room by the entrance, talked about how they just acquired some new and exclusive goods. From what I could see, the bottle seemed exactly like the bottles we destroyed in the harbor." Jimmy told them.
"Let’s get going then." Jimmy said, already walking in the direction he saw them at.
He traced his arm along the wall, letting most of the ink regroup onto his body.
"I still would like to know what’s happening." Abigail said.
"It seems they used Jimmy's ink art to listen and see around the casino, and I guess they want me to have some sort of 'talk' with them." Nicholas explained from what he understood.
"Basically yeah. However, you got one thing wrong." Amelia said.
"And what’s that?" he asked.
"You are more of a start to the plan. You will get them talking. Make them used to you. If they recognize you, then that’s just a plus. Then, after buttering them up and making sure it’s the thing we are really after, then I will force the rest out of them." Amelia explained.
Abigail picked up the pace and jumped into the conversation.
"And what’s my part?" she asked.
With a wicked grin, Amelia told her.
"You are going to be the scare tactic."
"Scare tactic?" she repeated.
"I mean your aura alone is threatening enough. So, you’ll be bad cop and I'll be slightly better cop." Amelia smiled.
Hearing that, Abigail let out an awkward laugh.
The three followed Jimmy through the casino until they arrived at the array of doors leading to small cubical rooms for smoking different herbs or cigars, or for personal drinking or other personal activities, all with glass windows to show the ocean outside.
"You see which one they went through?" Amelia asked.
"Oh no, I didn’t, guess we have to knock on every door we can see." Jimmy said in a mocking tone.
"Of course I saw which one they took!" he spat out, annoyed.
Jimmy walked towards a door labeled "Dionysus". On a closer look, each door to the private rooms had the name of a god of alcohol on them
Once everyone stood outside, Jimmy knocked.
"Mind if we join?" he spoke into the door.
Soon enough, the door opened, and they saw a man with dark brown hair dressed in brand clothing.
The man took one look at the group and was about to shut the door, but when he saw Nicholas, he stopped.
"O-Oh my god are you Nicho-"
Nicholas quickly cut the man off by lifting his finger.
"Yeah, it's me. Look. me and my friends here just want a room to eh... you know, freshen us up a bit." Nicholas said.
"And all the other rooms were already occupied, and it's not like we want to kick you out, but maybe we can share the room? If you are okay with that?" he asked, playing his part.
The man quickly gave him a nod.
"Y-Yes, of course, come on in." he said, holding the door open.
The inside of the room was basically a one-way mirror. One could look out and thus see the other rooms, but the glass made it so no one could see in. The room was pretty spacious with a leather sofa going around the edge of the room. Two round tables in front of the sofas. There was a bathroom and a cupboard with a mini fridge and different contraptions for smoking. In the cupboard were also two drawers, one full of e-cigarettes and vapes, the other one full of old cigars and bags of different powders.
The two groups sat down, with Jimmy grabbing a hookah and one of the powder bags to back up Nicholas' story. As Jimmy started to fix up the contraption and pour out the stuff in the bag to make it more believable, Nicholas started talking to the other two.
"So, you’re a fan?" he asked the man who opened the door.
"Y-Yeah..." the man stuttered.
"I actually saw one of your sage fight matches live. Paris two years ago. You were going to fight the world champion." he said.
"Oh yeah, the Cinder fight. Didn’t stand a chance did I." Nicholas laughed trying to make them more talkative.
"No, you were great." the man said.
"It might have looked like that from your side, but I'll tell you. When you're on the platform standing in front of a man twice your size and throws spells you have never heard of, then I'll say it gets scary." he joked.
The two men started to talk more and more to Nicholas, mostly them bringing up matches they saw of him or things they did whilst his matches where in the background.
Eventually, the other man, a man with black hair and wearing equally as expensive clothes as the first man, asked.
"D-Do you... Can I get a picture?"
"Of course!" Nicholas said with a fake smile.
As the man walked up to him, he spoke.
"You know it's not every day one shares a smoke with a sports prodigy like you." the man joked taking the picture.
As he was on his way to sit down again, Nicholas thought this to be the perfect time to ask.
"Yeah, I really quite enjoy the stuff." he lied.
"By the way, I heard a rumor about some special goods popping around these parts." he started.
"Any of you heard of a little thing called Angel eyes?"
