Watcher of Galaxies : the Wishing Star

Night of festivity - end

Night of festivity - end

Nov 17, 2024

Rein sighed in relief when they finally outside the palace. Everyone there kept bowing at them when they left.

"I'm exhausted, how about we go to the bathhouse?" Rose suggested.

"Agreed!" Eleanor beamed "I want to try our new dress too.."

"Come Laylah.." Rose held her hand.

Laylah seemed reluctant. She glanced at Kincade.

"Might as well clean ourselves too.." said Fabian.

“Okay,” said Rein

“Yeah,” Kincade nodded “Let’s go Laylah..”

Garland mentioned “I don’t need to.. I’ll wait at our stall.”

“Oh come on, it will be fun,” Rose smiled.

“Let’s go Gar!” Dianna waving her hand.

Garland sighed.

After asking around, they were given the location of a luxurious bathhouse that they could reserved the whole place just for them. The girls left to the women section. They went to the other area for the men.

“Woah..”

The room was huge and filled with steam, the pool was made of stone with carving of animals. After washing himself with a herb powder, Rein jumped to the pool, the others followed soon.

“This is refreshing.." Rein floating on his back.

“Yeah..” said Garland.

“What is that for?” Fabian nodding at a cabinet at the center of the pool.

Kincade opened the cabinet, it was filled with wooden jug. He took one and opened the lit. After smelling it, he tried sipping it "It taste like a milk and coffee! Hey! Catch!” he threw the jug at them.

Rein failed to catch his and it fell into the pool. He quickly retrieved it, fortunately it's not spilled inside the water.

Garland removed his mouth cover before gulping the jug “Tasty."

“Mine is tea..” Fabian sighed “Cade, get me the coffee one..”

“Coffee huh,” he searched the cabinet “I think is this one, it has the same symbol,” throwing it to Fabian.

Rein opened his jug and drank it. Garland asked for another one, they quickly emptied the entire cabinet. They heard the crowed sound.

“It’s already evening,” Rein mentioned.

“Let’s head back..” said Fabian.

After drying themselves and wore their costumes, they went to the front desk. They asked the clerk about the girls but it seemed they still haven't finished yet, so they went back to their stall first. Along the way, they saw the locals were busy making a lamp which was for the sky lamp event.

"Shall we make one too?" said Rein.

"What for?" asked Garland

"It seems fun.." staring at the kids and their parents making the lamp together.

Kincade nodded "Yeah, let's go buy the material!"

They went to a shop selling materials; Garland wanted to make his own. Back at the town square, the place was already been repaired and the locals were enjoying the festival, several merchants were selling the lamp. They head to their stall and began building the frame for their lamp. Rein noticed Garland was making a frame resembling a bird instead of the dome shaped design of the locals.

"Is that a challenge, Gar?" said Kincade "I'm going to get more materials! We'll make a cooler lamp than his!"

He ran to the shop, leaving Rein dumbfounded; Fabian shook his head. Not long later, the girls arrived, wearing the dress given by the grand empress.

“Rein,” Eleanor smiled “how’s our dress?”

“It’s really beautiful..”

Rose giggled “Aw, Rein..” smacking Rein’s back, causing him dropped the frame on his hand.

“Watch out!” Kincade warned, catching the frame.

"What are you doing?" Sierra asked.

"We are making a lamp for the event.." Rein rubbing his back.

“A lamp?” Rose looking at the frame

"It will fly if we attach this stone on to this stone device," he explained.

“Isn’t that the same stone for the stove?” Sierra mentioned.

"I see.. it is the same with the lantern festival at Eisengrand." said Eleanor.

"Where's Cade?" Rose looking around.

"He is buying more materials.."

"Wow.. is that a bird?" asked Dianna, looking at Garland's lamp.

"Sounds fun!" said Sierra "let's make one too."

Eleanor and Rose nodded; Dianna happily raised her hands. Laylah doesn’t seems interested, she stayed behind while the others left to get the materials.

A while later, they returned along with Kincade. The girls have decided to make their own lamps. When they finally finished, everyone unveiled their creation. Rose had make a flower shaped lamp; Dianna made a butterfly; Eleanor's lamp was a star; Sierra holding a spaceship.

"Eh! why you make that!" Rein appalled.

"Oops.. too excited.." said Sierra.

Kincade unveiled their creation, the green palace, although it’s far from the beautiful green palace. Garland snorted, he was holding a realistic looking bird lamp.

"Isn' that one of their deity?" Eleanor mentioned.

"Wow.." Dianna tilting her head.

"It's our lost.." Kincade felt on his knees. Laylah patted his shoulder.

“At least we tried our best.." cheered Rein “and having fun.”

A loud gong and everyone began gathering near the podium. The Emperor and his entourage came out from the palace, and as always, carried by their attendants. Standing from his seat, he announced the start of the sky lamp event. The attendant passed the lamps to the Emperor and his entourage.

“Praise the goddess yapcom for the brand new year!” the emperor released the lamp.

The ladies behind him were also releasing their lamps; the butterfly girl was waving at them before releasing her lamp. The crowds followed suit releasing their lamps. Rein attached the stone on to the device and it quickly radiating heat. As their lamps flew to the skies, it caused quite a ruckus among the locals.

"Mommy! look!" a child pointing at their lamps.

"Is that a flying house?" mentioned the other.

“look! a magu Luqu!”

"The other one, is that a bird too?"

"That gives me an idea for the next year.." said one of the merchant.

Eleanor giggled seeing the locals. They watched their lamps flew higher to the skies reaching the moon above. Another loud gong, signaling the end of the end of the festival and it’s time for them to continued with their journey.

Back at their stall, They decided to give their carriage to the merchant beside them; Sierra took the anti grav device from under their carriage.

“Let’s head back to the bar..” said Rein.

The next day, Rein thanked the owner and her daughter for their hospitality. He gave all their shilinq they earned from selling their merchandises and the gift from the emperor to her. At first she was shocked and declined, but after some back and forth, she finally accepted it.

“Will you visit us again?” asked the daughter.

Rein looked at friends before smiling at her “I’m not sure, but hopefully..”

“Promise?” the girl beamed.

“It’s a promise..” said Rose giving her a hug and one last pinch to her cheek.

They waved at them as they left the bar, walking to the city gate. Leaving the gate and walking a bit farther from the city, they bolted towards the location of their transport craft. Rein was surprised seeing it was parked not far from the road, he was glad no one had stumbled upon it. They quickly boarded the transport craft. Arriving at their ship, they went to the bridge. Kincade ignited the reactor and they flew to the skies. He pushed the thrusts at maximum power, quickly left the atmosphere, and to the outer space, off to their next destination.
