Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Nov 24, 2024

Tiffany left without a word, I could hear her calling someone downstairs with fake tears laced in her voice. I wish I could cry like that, but I don’t have time to be emotional. I should try calling Max to see if I can stay with him until school.
“Hey, Max.?” I asked.
“Whatcha need?” I can hear a party in the background.
“You think I could live with you for a bit?”
“Why? Did somethin’ happen?” The party grew quiet.
“My mom is kinda kicking me out…currently.”
“Oh shit…Um…I don’t think you can move in by today, or even tomorrow, on such short notice. I’m really sorry. You might be able to stay later though. In a few days, I might be able to get room for you here. Will-will that work? Like, can she let you stay for a bit longer?”
“I don’t think she will. I’m gonna try callin’, like, a few more people. Just in case they can get me a place to sleep.” I said.
“I really am sorry! If I could help, I would.”
“It’s fine,” I said while hanging up to chant a quick spell. “E hoʻopili i kaʻu mau mea noʻu.”
I watch all my belongings get packed away before grabbing my scroll to make another call.
“Hey, Nancy?”
“Yeeaah?”
“You do you I can stay at your house for a bit?” I asked organizing my bags.
“No, sorry, my parents are fighting again. I think they might break up now, I don’t know. Now’s just not a good time.”
“Oh.”
“Why? What’s goin’ on?”
“Tiff kicked me out.”
“Damn… I can make some calls to see if anyone else can help. Just text me who you’ve already talked with and anyone you will talk with, chill?”
“Thanks. I called Max before you and was thinking of calling Lily after you.”
“Which one?”
“Lilith.”
“I know a few.”
“Lilith Prince.”
“That hot rich girl?”
“Yeah.”
“Mmkay. I’ll probably call Azrael and Matteo.”
“Who are they?”
“Azrael hangs with your Lily a lot and Matteo moved here from Ovtrof last year.”
“I think I’ve heard of them.”
“Good. It would be awkward for you to start living with a stranger before going back to school.”
“Look who’s talking.”
“Shut up and finish packing while I make a few calls.”
“Aye aye, Cap!” I finished organizing a few bags before hanging up and starting to call Lilly. “Hey, Whore. You think I can stay with you for a bit?”
“Why?”
“My mom kicked me out. I’m all packed but once I’m done organizing she’ll have me leave as soon as possible, maybe even before I finish.”
“Oh shit, I don’t think my parents will want to let you stay seeing as they think anyone of a lower class will steal from us, but I have space for all your shit if you want to leave it here?”
“Thank you so much, girl. I don’t think most people that could let me stay would be able to fit all of my stuff.”
“No it’s fine, you can leave as much as you need here, and if you do end up with nowhere to stay you can always shower and stuff at my place even if you can’t sleep here.”
“You’re an actual lifesaver!”
“No problem, call me when or if you swing by to drop off stuff!”
“Of course, bye bitch!” I finished feeling leaps better now that I knew I could take as much as I physically could. After almost ten minutes, I got a call from Nancy, as in my excitement, I had forgotten that I needed a place to stay.
“Hey, Nancy!” I greeted, much more cheerfully than our previous call.
“Did you have any luck finding a place to stay?” she asked.
“Not quite, but you know the girl I had to call after you?” I asked while the bag in my hand was bursting at the seams with the amount I had put into it.
“Yeah?”
“She said that I can leave my stuff at her place so that if I find someone who can let me stay there even if they have very little room I can still keep as much stuff as I want from my room!”
“Oh, that makes my news even better!” she exclaimed, “Remember that Matteo guy I was telling you about? Well, it turns out his parents don’t actually live here and that he just has an apartment near the college you’re going to as he’s going to the same place! Since his landlord is increasing the rent, he was looking for a roommate to help him with the cost. Once I told him about you, he asked if you wanted to move in. I was a little hesitant as his place is pretty small because he got it for just himself. Now that you have a place to put your stuff you don’t have to worry about that, and I can get you in touch with him today”  she spoke as if her life depended on it, not letting me get a single word in.
“Girl, breathe. I would love to get in touch with him about this new arrangement if you want to add him to the call.” I said even more excited than before. I would finally be leaving this house for good. I can go to the dream college that accepted me. I don’t have to live in the dorms.
“Of course!”
“Hello?” Matteo spoke in a thick ovtorvian accent.
“Hi! I’m Drew, it's nice to meet you.”
“Oh, Nancy told me about how you needed a place to stay!”
“Yeah, currently packing my bags right now. So do you have a spare bedroom or a spare room that could work as a bedroom?”
“Yes, yes. Um, there is a spare room that is a little small but could fit a bed and all the other stuff you need, well maybe not all.”
“That’s completely fine I have a friend who will let me leave my stuff at her place! How much rent do you need me to pay by the way?”
“3 stars per week, unfortunately.”
“I could probably find us both a better apartment for cheaper by the end of today,” I say shocked.
“What do you mean?”
“Dude, most apartments around here are like 1 bronze piece a month, max!” Nancy spoke up.
“You have got to be kidding me!”
“After I finish packing, I’ll go to your house and we can start finding a real apartment for us both, how about that?”
“Deal.”
“Okay let’s get out of here.”
“You’re already done?”
“Yeah, now am I walking, or are you on your way? Because either is fine.”
“I have a car, I can pick you up.”
“Alright.” I hung up, after telling the elf my address, waiting for them to come.
“I see you’re done packing. Get out.” I hadn’t heard Tiffany open the door.
“I’m waiting for someone to pick me up. I’ll be out within the hour.” I say coldly.
“I don’t fucking care. Get your ass out or I will call the cops and tell them you are trespassing.”
“They won’t do anything as you haven’t filed an official eviction notice on their scrolls.”
“Then I’ll drag you out by your fucking hair if I have to, I want you out of this fucking house right now.”
There was a knocking at the door.
“That’s him, now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be getting my stuff out of here now!”
If looks could kill there would be two dead bodies in the room. When they got to the door and opened it the elf was waiting. His long ears stuck out from his black hair, while his brown eyes pierced into the soul. He was glaring straight at Tiffiny.

It all started with the dreams that they all shared.

Drew is just trying to get by, go through college, and live a life, just like everyone else their age. They got a scholarship to the best magic school in all of Jovuk, let alone the kingdoms. School is great, keeping up with their classes, and they have a great roommate. That all gets thrown out the window when they meet the others who share the dream that has haunted them for ages. When they have to go on a quest to find what these dreams mean, they never could have predicted how it would end. Love, hate, and a good mix of danger prove to be great bonding experiences.
