St. George University was founded in the 187th year of the Federation's calendar, nestled in the scenic suburbs of Nia City. It is affiliated with the Church of the Goddess of Light and primarily offers scholarships to students from impoverished families who excel academically and hold a favorable view of the Goddess.
The campus spans a vast area, and the male dormitories are shared by two people. Each dorm room is furnished with two single beds, a washroom, and a small communal lounge.
As soon as Sulu returned, he locked the door behind him, collapsed onto his bed, and closed his eyes.
Today, in activating his attribute panel, Sulu inadvertently unlocked the hidden memories of the original Sulu Botley. He suddenly realized that the original owner of this body had a profound and complicated past.
Looking at his attribute panel, the passive skills listed as "Ancient Hebrew" and "Demon Hunting Knowledge" were no trivial matters!
It appeared that the original body had endured some sort of trauma, resulting in selective memory loss.
During Sulu’s time in this world, he had never delved deeply into the original Sulu’s memories. It was only now, when he had fully integrated into this world, that he discovered the original Sulu’s background was far from ordinary. In fact, he might hail from a family of extraordinary individuals!
Reflecting on the letter from the original body’s brother, which mentioned terms like "Dawn of the Gods" and "Extraordinary Tide," Sulu realized it was essential to reexamine and piece together the fragmented memories of the original Sulu.
It seemed that the letter had triggered a rush of dormant memories, granting Sulu a deeper understanding of this world.
"Textbooks claim our world has five continents and seven oceans, but that only scratches the surface... This world is infinitely vast, and humanity has perhaps explored less than a fraction of it..."
"The Botley family is a lineage of extraordinary individuals, a bloodline of demon hunters loyal to the Church of the Goddess of Light..."
"In this world, extraordinary power has always existed, though it has ebbed and flowed over time. During periods of decline, many supernatural beings retreat into hiding, and the gods fall into slumber, known as the Twilight of the Gods... In contrast, the resurgence of extraordinary power is called the Dawn of the Gods. This cycle has repeated itself countless times throughout history!"
The Twilight of the Gods does not signify the extinction of extraordinary power, but rather its temporary decline.
Even during the Twilight of the Gods, there were still extraordinary beings, and the Seven Gods' Churches were the best proof of their existence.
“The last Ragnarok began over three hundred years ago. During that time, the Seven Old Gods’ Churches saw their control over the secular world decline, and the White Eagle Federation rose to power.”
"Sulu had been trained as a monster hunter from a young age. It seemed his father wanted him to follow in his footsteps and become a professional hunter. However, due to the Twilight of the Gods, supernatural, horror, and extraordinary incidents sharply decreased. As a result, many monster hunters found themselves out of work. Moreover, to become a true extraordinary being, one needed to undergo a special ceremony, which required extraordinary power and specific conditions. Sulu’s father tried this once, but failed—and in doing so, he caused the death of Sulu’s mother, leading to a rift between father and son. Sulu left his hometown in the rural region of Gustar and traveled all the way to Nia City, spanning nearly the entire White Eagle Federation from east to west.”
“Then, I encountered my transmigration…”
Sulu suddenly opened his eyes. “Such an important memory... and I had completely overlooked it… Could this be the original host’s obsession?”
In truth, the extraordinary knowledge was something the original host had learned as a child, but it had mostly become irrelevant. As a monster hunter, with demons and monsters vanishing from the world, what use was there for such knowledge?
When Sulu was young, he only went through basic training. As for the legendary monsters, not one had ever appeared. He didn’t even believe in them himself.
And in comparison to the vastness of his memories, this particular part took up less than one percent—and seemed tied to the original host’s obsession, which Sulu had unwittingly ignored.
After all, Sulu had always avoided delving too deeply into the original host’s family. After gathering basic information, he had no interest in exploring it further.
Until today, when a sudden trigger caused these forgotten memories to flood his mind.
“Perhaps the original host still harbored an obsession, something tied to these extraordinary memories. But today, I’ve finally shattered it… From today onward, I am truly Sulu Botley!”
Sulu exhaled deeply, his mind racing.
“From today’s letter, it seems my older brother, Rod, is involved in some significant event, and it looks like he’s asking for my help. Could it have something to do with that page from the book?”
As for his own plan? Going back was impossible. Even though he now knew about the extraordinary world, Sulu still intended to follow his previous course—first becoming successful in the mundane world.
Extraordinary power? That would be something to secretly investigate.
Sulu's family understands their own affairs. As a world-class superpower, the White Eagle Federation's standing army, artillery, and firearms are forces not to be taken lightly.
Even an extraordinary being would struggle to catch a bullet with their bare hands.
Furthermore, how could such a nation not have thoroughly researched the supernatural?
The most direct evidence of this is the Seven Gods Church.
Sulu had always found it odd that the influence of faith seemed disproportionately strong in the White Eagle Federation. But now, it was clear: real deities were behind it all. The influence, however, had been significantly diluted by the three centuries of the Twilight of the Gods.
Thus, despite having the golden finger, Sulu knew he had to remain cautious—for now.
"However, it won't be for long. The Portley family has been serving as demon hunters for generations, sworn to the Goddess of Light. During the First Holy War, some members of the Goddess's church settled in the White Eagle Federation. This is all well-documented and can be easily verified..."
Sulu's face darkened. "If spiritual energy truly resurfaces... No, if the Dawn of the Gods is truly upon us, the government will most likely react swiftly. That would be a problem. Do I need to secretly begin increasing my strength?"
He continued scrolling through his attribute panel for a while but found no sign of a “Demon Hunter Bloodline” or anything similar. He couldn’t help but feel a bit disappointed. "Is it that I lack the talent or the potential for this?"
Reflecting on the knowledge the original owner had acquired during his childhood, Sulu remembered that it was mainly focused on Ancient Hebrew and demon-hunting lore.
Ancient Hebrew, the ancient precursor to modern Hebrew, was difficult and obscure. As for the demon-hunting knowledge, it primarily covered common monsters and methods of dealing with them, stories that the original owner had treated as little more than terrifying tales.
But as for how to advance in rank and become a true extraordinary being through rituals, the original owner had no knowledge whatsoever.
Even the original owner’s father was just an amateur demon hunter. His one attempt to forcefully ascend had ended in catastrophic failure.
"Extraordinary beings..." Sulu murmured.
Looking back at the family, all that remained was his father, Dunks, and his older brother, Rod. It seemed that over the past four years, Rod had made impressive progress in his pursuit of the extraordinary. “Is he coming to find me?”
A surge of both anticipation and dread swept over him, leaving Sulu with a conflicted expression.
