Scout shivered, his eyes darting around. “Are we sure we want to do this?” Dino glanced down at him, her frills lowering slightly. “We’re already here. Might as well see what’s inside.” With that, she stepped forward, pushing through the thick vines and into the temple’s mouth. Scout followed closely, his fur brushing against her leg as they entered the darkness together. Inside, the air felt different, heavier. The stone walls were lined with ancient carvings, worn down by time but still visible in the dim light. Symbols and shapes Dino couldn’t recognize spiraled across the walls, telling a story lost to history. Scout’s voice was barely a whisper. “What do you think these mean?” Dino shook her head. “No idea. But someone—or something—built this place for a reason.” They moved deeper into the temple, the darkness growing thicker around them. Dino’s frills twitched, and she kept her wings folded tightly against her body, ready to spring into action if needed. The floor beneath them felt uneven, as though parts of the stone had sunken over time. They passed by what appeared to be an old altar, cracked and covered in dust. But something caught Dino’s eye—a faint glimmer in the shadows. She stepped closer, narrowing her eyes as she peered at the object. A small stone, no bigger than her claw, was embedded in the wall. Unlike the rest of the temple, it seemed untouched by time, glowing faintly with a soft green light. Dino reached out, her claws brushing the surface. As soon as her claws made contact, the room trembled again, a low rumble reverberating through the walls. The stone’s glow brightened, casting an eerie green light across the chamber. Scout yelped, leaping back. “What did you do?!” “I didn’t do anything!” Dino snapped, stepping back as well. The stone continued to glow, and the air around them pulsed with energy. She could feel it now, stronger than before—something ancient, something alive. Suddenly, the walls seemed to shift, the carvings along the stone glowing in response to the pulsing light. Symbols began to move, shifting into new shapes, as though they were trying to communicate something. Dino took a deep breath, her frills raised in anticipation. Whatever lay ahead, she was ready. The temple wasn’t abandoned. Something was waiting for them.
