“You’re out of your mind! Who told you to agree to this?!” his mother immediately shouted, twisting his father’s ear.
“Take it easy, dear! Listen to me—I’m only sealing his magical powers for a few years. Once he matures, we’ll lift the seal. There won’t be any lasting effects, really. The Grand Mage Carla herself promised me this.” His father hurriedly explained.
“Why?” his mother twisted his father’s ear even harder.
“Darling, don’t you think it’s dangerous for a three-year-old to have the ability to kill with a single thought?” his father replied.
“Will it delay his magical training?” his mother paused, then asked.
“No, I asked. It won’t affect his magical talent.” his father answered.
“Then... fine. I trust Grand Mage Carla, even though I don’t believe my child would harm anyone recklessly,” his mother said, finally letting go of his father’s ear.
“No, Mom! You can’t just stand by and let them seal me!” Zhang Sanfeng protested. How would this sealing affect his martial arts? He didn’t know what it might do to him.
“There’s no other choice, child. You have no self-control. The moment someone provokes you, you attack without thinking. Today it’s the Duke’s son, but what if next time you end up killing a prince? That would be disastrous. Anyway, it’s just for a few years. You’ll be fine. Now, get some sleep, we’ll be leaving,” his mother said, pulling his father away.
The next morning, Zhang Sanfeng was taken to the Great Cathedral of Light. Inside a large room, he met six powerful individuals who were to perform the sealing: Archbishop Ishihara, Grand Mage Carla, and four other Mages. They were the kingdom’s most powerful magic users.
“Don’t worry, child. Just relax. Think of this like a dream, alright?” Grand Mage Carla said gently.
Zhang Sanfeng nodded. The elderly man seemed kind enough. He sat down on the floor, and they gathered around him. As they began chanting, magical light beams surrounded him. He felt six different magical forces enter his body, intertwining to form a large net under his skin, preventing his magical energy from being released. Suddenly, the white holy power began to tremble, disturbing the balance of energy within him.
Damn, this must be the work of Ishihara’s ‘pig’ cult trying to kill me! Zhang Sanfeng thought. He couldn’t sit idly by—he immediately began gathering his spiritual energy and used his advanced martial arts technique to stabilize the chaotic flow inside his body. The holy light became more and more unruly, even mixing with the other magical forces. The pressure on him grew intense, and he was forced to keep adjusting his breathing. Eventually, he passed out from the strain.
The next scene:
“You said this would be perfectly fine, didn’t you?” King Ai Dehua VII shouted angrily at Grand Mage Carla.
“Your Majesty, everything seemed normal at first, but then something went wrong. I suspect Archbishop Ishihara may have interfered,” Grand Mage Carla replied.
“Damn it, no wonder he suggested such a solution! What’s the child’s condition? Will he survive?” the King demanded.
“I don’t know,” Grand Mage Carla said.
“What do you mean, you don’t know?”
“Yes, it all depends on his willpower.”
“Oh no... How do I face the Dragon Family now?” the King groaned.
At that moment, a servant rushed in and announced, “Your Majesty, the child has woken up!”
“Thank the Light! Let’s go see him!”
Zhang Sanfeng woke up in the middle of the night. As he slowly examined his condition, he was both surprised and relieved. His advanced martial arts had made significant progress through this ordeal. His body was enveloped in a thick layer of magical sealing, with only a few small cracks—probably indicating the seal had failed. The King and Grand Mage Carla entered the room.
“Don’t move, child. I’ll check on you,” Grand Mage Carla said kindly.
“You’re awake! Thank goodness! Don’t worry, it’s all over now, everything will be fine,” the King said joyfully.
“Thank you, Your Majesty,” Zhang Sanfeng said politely.
“Oh, what a well-behaved child!”
“Your Majesty! This situation looks very bad!” Grand Mage Carla said gravely.
“What’s the matter?” the King asked, concerned.
“Given how complex the situation was, we used all our power, but the seal on him... it’s both complete and incomplete at the same time?” Grand Mage Carla explained.
“What do you mean?” the King asked urgently.
“There are cracks in the seal, and based on their size, it shouldn’t affect his ability to cast spells below level three. So, all our efforts may have been in vain.”
“Then forget it, don’t try to seal him again. You almost scared me to death,” the King said, exasperated.
“But—”
“But what?”
“This type of seal can only be broken by his own magical power. We used everything we had, so unless his magic power exceeds the combined strength of all six of us, he’ll never be able to cast even a level four spell,” Grand Mage Carla said.
“Can he reach that level?” the King asked cautiously.
“It’s unlikely. Even if he can, it will take at least 200 years,” she replied.
“200 years! So you’ve turned a magical genius into a useless cripple?” the King exclaimed.
“I’m afraid that’s the case.”
“No! My God! How am I supposed to explain this to the Dragon Family? Do you think it’s easy for them to produce a magical genius? Do you think it’s easy for the Great Han Kingdom to do the same? How are you going to compensate me?”
“And how are you going to compensate me? Don’t tell me you didn’t oppose the sealing!” Zhang Sanfeng said coldly.
“Oh... alright, I admit I was deceived. Just tell me what you want, I’ll give it to you!” the King said helplessly.
“I want you to take good care of those two princesses. Don’t let them suffer any more injustice! Can you do that?”
“Alright, I’ll officially declare them princesses of the kingdom. How does that sound?”
“Perfect. I’ll speak well of you to my family,” Zhang Sanfeng said.
“Oh, you’re such a good child. I’ll send you home right away. Is that alright?”
“Okay, thank you, Your Majesty.”
When Zhang Sanfeng returned home, he found that his grandfather and parents were waiting for him. They were all overjoyed to see him, though their reactions were quite different once they learned of his tragic ordeal. His grandfather’s face was as cold as water, his expression unreadable. His father, brow furrowed, gripped the hilt of his sword tightly. His mother, tears streaming down her face, held him and cried, repeatedly apologizing. He quickly tried to comfort her.
“Mom, you know, even geniuses have their limitations. A person can only focus on one path. I may be a genius in magic, but does that mean I can’t excel in other fields? I’ve always enjoyed researching alchemy. Alchemy only requires level-three magic. Maybe I’m a genius in that field instead!” he reassured her.
“I don’t know if you’re a genius in alchemy, but you’re certainly a genius when it comes to strategy and warfare!” his grandfather said with a nod. “But this... was it really an accident?”
“I don’t think so. It must have been the Archbishop’s doing! But I have no proof!” Zhang Sanfeng said firmly.
“I see. Ishihara’s family has gone too far!” his grandfather said, his voice filled with murderous intent. At that moment, he no longer seemed like the frail old man he appeared to be. A powerful aura emanated from him, chilling the air around him.
Zhang Sanfeng realized, to his surprise, that his grandfather was a hidden expert—his injury from earlier had only crippled his legs, but it hadn’t affected his martial arts or internal energy at all.
“Are we just going to let this slide?” his mother asked, her voice filled with frustration.
“He made my grandson lose his magical potential. I’ll make sure he loses his son!” his grandfather growled.
“Father, do you mean to kill the Archbishop’s illegitimate son?” his father asked cautiously.
“Exactly.”
“But we, the five great noble families, swore an oath with the royal family not to use assassination against each other’s bloodlines. If we break that oath, we all agree to punish the violators. This is written into our ancestral laws!” his father reminded him.
“If he admits that the young priest was his son, we won’t lay a hand on him. But does he dare? Does he dare bring his son’s corpse to the Council of Elders and accuse us of breaking the oath?” Grandfather said with a sneer.
“True... illegitimate children aren’t considered heirs of noble families. I’ll take care of it right away!” his father said, and quickly left to carry out the order.
Grandfather turned to his wife, smiling warmly. “My dear daughter-in-law, let’s leave this matter for now. Tomorrow, take him to your family. Perhaps the Elven Queen will have a solution.”
“Understood, Father-in-law!” his mother replied. “I’ll put him to rest. You should sleep early as well!”
After watching his mother and Zhang Sanfeng leave, his grandfather’s face grew dark with fury. He sat in his wheelchair, motionless, lost in thought. Then, suddenly, he shouted, “Old Dao!”
“Master!” a loyal servant, Old Dao, answered from nearby.
“I regret it! A mere illegitimate child won’t be enough to quell my anger. Go and take care of the Archbishop’s dozen or so mistresses! If they think I’m just an old, sick man, they’re mistaken. Show them what happens when they cross me!” Grandfather ordered, his voice cold and menacing.
“As you command!” Old Dao disappeared immediately.
A few days later, in the royal palace, Baron Tiff, the Director of the Capital’s Security Bureau, was sweating profusely as he reported the progress of several recent murders to the King.
“The most serious case recently is the assassination of the Light Priest. Such blasphemy hasn’t occurred in decades. We suspect it’s the work of a ruthless heretic. As for the other murders, the victims were all famous young women from the capital, so we believe the killer may be a deranged serial killer. We’re doing everything we can to catch the murderer, Your Majesty. With the protection of the Light God, we’ll certainly restore peace to the capital! Please trust in our loyalty and ability!” he said, visibly anxious.
“Pah! It’s been so long, and you don’t even have a lead. Are you a pig or something? How can I trust a pig with any ability? Now the Archbishop is demanding the killer, and the families of the victims are doing the same! If you can’t bring me the murderer within three days, I won’t hesitate to have your pig head sent to the Archbishop as an offering!” the King roared.
“Yes... yes, Your Majesty!” Baron Tiff scrambled to leave, almost tripping over his own feet.
“Ah! After yelling at that fool, I feel much better!” the King laughed, turning to Grand Mage Carla, his anger now completely gone.
“Your Majesty, what do you make of this situation?” Grand Mage Carla asked.
“What else is there to say? It’s obvious! The dead are either the Archbishop’s illegitimate son or one of his mistresses. This is clearly a revenge plot by the Dragon family. Only the old man from the Dragon family would dare do something this bold, and without any attempt at concealment. If anything, it’s more of a warning than revenge! The old man is furious. The consequences will be severe! Hahaha, it feels so good!” the King said, laughing joyously.
“Indeed, the Archbishop has been using his influence to meddle in the kingdom’s affairs for years. Your Majesty has always been wary of the Church’s power, so you couldn’t take action against him. But now, someone else has finally given you some relief!” Grand Mage Carla remarked.
“Exactly! I could never get the old man to move, but now he’s taken the initiative. I should thank that little Dragon Five for this!” the King said, clearly pleased.
“Your Majesty, I’ve noticed that your twin daughters have remarkable magical talent. I would like to take them on as my apprentices. What do you think?” Grand Mage Carla asked.
“Of course! It would be an honor for them. Oh, speaking of which, their mother is an Elf. It’s hardly surprising they have magic talent! Alright, I’ll issue an official decree, declaring them princesses of the kingdom and my apprentices. This will also fulfill my agreement with the Dragon family’s boy.”
“Thank you, Your Majesty!” Grand Mage Carla said with a smile.
