Rodic looks at all the wounded recovering. A scene of complete chaos in the silence.
"What should we do now?" He asks.
"Hmm..." Zoe thinks with her hand on her chin. "First, we should help the wounded. Then we'll gather the bodies outside. I want you to leave the dead without their helmets if possible; it will be more comforting for the families if they recognize the faces of their loved ones." Zoe's countenance changes. It's clear that she changes her profile when she needs to be the "Supreme Mage".
"Understood. We can leave the wounded in the square in front of the castle." Rodic asks.
"Good idea." Zoe agrees. "If you can gather some mages who know some healing spells, that would be great." She adds.
Zoe is twenty-one, while Rodic is more experienced at twenty-seven. Despite the age difference, they both manage to maintain the same level of common sense. With Rodic's experience and Zoe's intelligence, they manage to form a team of adventurers who are very aware of the situation.
"There probably aren't any mage of that style left, but I'll send them on their way anyway." Rodic replies. "By the way, how long do you intend to keep these children on your shoulders?"
Zoe's affection changes like breaking glass. "I forgot..." She says.
After making their decisions, the adventurers took the wounded to the square in the middle of the kingdom, a more open place where they could get a better overview of the number of wounded.
On the floor of the square, the weakened soldiers lie on makeshift beds on the ground. Some soldiers are in a critical situation, between life and death. Those with minor injuries help as best they can. Zoe Ethy tries to heal as many soldiers as she can with her magic. Rodic is responsible for bringing in the most injured and helping with first aid. It is estimated that seventy-three soldiers were left alive.
In one of these beds are Light and William, both resting while the others work. At the same time, at different gates of the kingdom, soldiers carry the bodies of their comrades out of the walls and leave them on the grass. Yanma's body was placed with the others.
Regarding the bodies of the enemies, Zoe determined that they should all gather in one place outside the kingdom and burn the bodies, except for Marco's body.
In the square where the wounded lay, a few knights set about cooking. The grueling battle required a meal that would help everyone regain their energy. To do this, they chose to get their food from the training camp's storehouse.
They brought some pieces of lamb, vegetables, eggs and bread, as well as spices.
As the soldiers return to the square, a young knight carrying a sack of potatoes seems to have a question on his mind, but he doesn't have the courage to ask his superior.
"Huh..." He mutters before saying. "Now that Captain Yanma is gone, who will be in charge?" He asks the knight in front of him, who is carrying a pot.
"It's hard to say. I'd like to tell you that I'd be the best choice, but look at my condition..." The man has a thick, despondent voice. His right arm was torn off during the battle, and a few moments ago, Zoe closed the wound and bandaged it. The man holds the handle of the pot with his left hand.
"Well, you're not the only one who's lost something important..." The knight with the potatoes says it in a light tone. This is because the young soldier lost his left eye in the battle, which is now bandaged. "At least I look a bit more like the Supreme Mage..." He emphasizes.
"..." The more experienced knight remained silent, just walking. "What good is a knight without an arm?" He whispers and walks on, picking up his pace.
"Hey, don't run!"
At this point in the night, the fire begins to calm down, and everyone can see better thanks to this. Even so, the rugged terrain makes it difficult for soldiers, especially the weak, to get around. Even when things return to normal, the government of Legorio will have a long job of rebuilding. They will also need to strengthen their military power.
Back in the square, the vast majority of the remaining soldiers are being helped with their wounds by Zoe, who is giving them first aid. Rodic, who until a moment ago was helping the wounded, moves to group the bodies of the enemies.
Going to the north gate, Rodic is surprised by the scenery of trees on the site, the same place where Light fought Cris.
Passing through the trees, the adventurer notices the body of a man wearing luxurious white clothes. The man has silver-colored hair with curls; it is Cris Fenece, leaning against a tree, apparently passed out. Cris's forehead is dripping with blood, and his eyes are wide open. Rodic thinks he's dead, until he gets closer and Cris's eyes open!
He quickly tries to react, but Rodic is quicker and manages to use the tree trunk to trap Cris's limbs!
His legs, arms and neck are tightly held by trunks that transform according to Rodic's will.
Cris tries to break through the wood but can't; this is on a completely different level from Light.
The light-skinned man with the angelic hair is trying his best to free himself; his head and neck are red from suffocation.
"So one of you rats was still alive..." Rodic says, looking Cris in the eye from a short distance away, less than a forearm.
Meanwhile, in the square, it looks like Light is about to wake up...
