What was a dream, really? No, not the thing one might envision to come in the future. The other definition. The thing one might see as a vision while they slept. That one.
Dreams became rare when the God of All Dreams turned mad from HIS own Dreams and killed all the other deities. HE was now recognized as the God of Betrayal, and most beings in the universe slowly lost their ability to Dream. Those who could Dream still, well… most of them wouldn’t tell anyone that they still could.
Not Serran Avarrik, though. He was his Tribesmender’s appointed apprentice, so naturally, he could Dream. And do magic. The two often came hand in hand — though not always. Luckily for him, he was born an Alvon — space elves — and they had been quite… fine, he supposed, when it came to Dreamers. After all, the Alvons needed Dreams and magic to survive in this era of battlecruisers and intergalactic colonization at the hands of humans.
The fact that the God of All Dreams was once Alvon might or might not be (deliberately) forgotten.
