Following the awkward dinner, Seraina stayed in her room and didn't leave once. Although she wanted to go out, Seraina found the idea of staying indoors more appealing at the moment. This gave her more time to get acquainted with the new technology from the Digital Realm.
The blue screen, newly added, served as a map, inventory, and character sheet, which was now a blinking button after being minimised.
Upon expanding the map, it showcased the entire house and its surroundings, complete with markers showing the location of nearby individuals; it was convenient and told Seraina when it was safe to leave the room. She didn't want any contact with Callen or his family unless it was necessary or had something to do with the novel's plot.
Stored in the inventory were some precious items that Seraina had collected from every world that she had been in; included amongst those items were some photos she had copied from the album.
Seraina hadn't had enough time to bring anything with her from the world she belonged to. So, seeing the album filled with the og!Seraina, Asher and Callen brought back the Host's memories of the three of them. Amidst her reminiscing, she copied the photos to the inventory.
She questioned if the two men were the ones she knew from the original world and whether there was a possibility that they remembered her. But aside from Asher being his protective, caring self and Callen being the total opposite, there was nothing else to show they knew anything of her or where they came from before.
It was saddening to think about, but there was nothing to be done. She could only continue with the novel's plot and make it to the end with no mishaps.
[1492 open the blue screen] Despite choosing to stay in the room to avoid interacting with the characters outside, Seraina grew bored with nothing to do in the almost empty room. The only things to do in the bedroom were to read, or stare out of the window and watch as the day slowly turned to night. It was an endless cycle, and it was an indication of how og!Seraina usually spent her days in this house.
System 1492 was more reserved than the system Seraina was acquainted with before and only spoke when it was needed. In fact, since the time it first introduced itself, it hadn't been called upon and had given up on its Host, who seemed to not be interested in talking to the system. It didn't mind, as it was here to do its job, and could wait patiently.
Unlike the old system, which was curious and would leave the Host's mind to excitedly explore the novel's world, this 1492 would remain in place and patiently wait to be called upon.
It blinked its eyes and said, [As you wish, Host. Please keep in mind that you can only view what is on screen and need more points to unlock the other areas and the rest of the plot. Focus on the tasks for now and work hard to earn points.]
As 1492 said, Seraina could only access the map, character favorability, and inventory. There were other options still locked; such as the shop, character surveillance and other useful things that would make completing the plot much easier.
It was unknown why these important things would be locked and needed points to access them, but as a simple Host, she didn't have the means to question the higher-ups. And since she had left abruptly during the attack on the Digital Realm, she didn't know who they were, or who was now in the ruler position. It would only become known once she returned to the Digital Realm.
Lying back against the pillows that were stacked high against the bed's headboard, Seraina studied the screen that had appeared before her eyes.
After her eyes adjusted to the bright light, Seraina opened the map and saw that aside from Callen in his home office, there was no one else home. Swallowing her disappointment on Asher being nowhere to be seen, she clicked out of the map and opened the character favorability charts.
The only one that was important for the progression of the plot was the male lead, so she ignored the others and focused on the main one. Callen's name was in bold and beside it was a bar that was filled with an angry red colour. The number 80% was shown at the end, with no signs of change. It showed the male lead's animosity towards the female lead, and the remaining 20% was his good feelings towards her. The bad outweighed the good, and it showed that Seraina had her work cut for her.
Besides advancing the plot as part of the primary task, it was also required to improve the male lead's favorability towards the female lead, ensuring a smooth path towards the ending. It wouldn't do for the male lead to turn hostile towards the og!character and make it hard for the Host to complete their tasks.
So seeing the 80% made Seraina weary and at a loss as to what to do. This world was supposed to be simple, but it was becoming clearer that things were only going to get more complicated.
For a while, she went over the favorability charts and studied the map to learn the layout of the house. It would be helpful to know where to go that would make it easier to avoid the characters she didn't want to meet. And being so immersed in the map, the sound of something small hitting the window went amiss. It was only when the sound entered her ears that Seraina snapped out of it and stood up to check out the noise.
Now standing before the large bay window, it could be seen that several stones lay at the feet of a tall male who was looking up with a smile gracing his lips. It was the same beautiful smile that Seraina loved, adorning the face of the man who had been in her heart for a long time.
