Jane awoke from her gentle slumber and stood up quietly so as to not upset the rest of her family snoozing in the rooms below, she had got home quite late the previous night and had to climb through the hatch on the roof to reach the attic she called home. No one ever came up there, probably for the best too as her parents would never approve of her hidden lifestyle. Unlike other girls at her school, she had a deep fascination for wearing masculine clothes and doing actions considered by her peers to be unwomanlike, she didn’t know why she enjoyed such acts but Jane was very much aware that if she was ever to be caught she’d be punished greatly. She reluctantly put on a dress, her parent’s favourite.
“Blegh..” she murmured in disgust as she stuffed some of the more masculine clothes she had bought in secret into her school bag before putting the rest of her public clothes on and approaching the ladder. Like normal, she planned to leave before anyone else awoke but she still wanted some breakfast, with a soft groan and some slight hesitation she opened the trapdoor to the attic and lowered its padded ladder gently to the floor. Stepping down, closing and locking her room with a padlock before scurrying to the kitchen.
After she concluded with her feast she stepped outside with a fake smile to appease the world around her, she rushed as fast as she could while still faking as much ladylike as possible, coming up to the school her legs trembled slightly, she was going to wait for her best friend to show up, almost as a kind of emotional protection from all the ridicule and bullying she knew she’d have to face alone for being the “girl who thinks she’s a boy”. Her best friend V was running late again though jane didn’t mind. V was everything to her, her thoughts, her wants, and her needs all involved the cheerful yet timid, lovable girl. The second she immerged from the bus stop Jane scampered over, soon followed by a playful hug from V.
“V! You’re late again”
“What? Can you blame me? Sleeping in is fun” V giggled softly and began to nuzzle Jane.
“That's what you said yesterday! And the day before!” Jane stammered happily to finally be with her friend.
“You can’t prove ittt!” V held her friend’s hand with a smile as they began their stride towards the open doors of the school. Jane felt like she always belonged with V, the girl made her feel endless amounts of you from V’s presence alone, Jane definitely felt close to her best friend though that love was met with a sting of guilt, as far as Jane knew V was extremely straight. Naturally, because of this fear, she avoided her romantic thoughts as much as she could.
They stepped into the school, an action quickly followed by Jane hiding behind V, the nervous girl trembling and whimpering
