Sophie is a simple hedge witch with not much magical talent. She doesn’t think she’ll ever need to fear the wrath of the tyrannical emperor Decimus Bellator who has been summoning all magic users from across the empire to help cure his little sister, Livia. None who have gone to the palace have ever returned.
But then to her horror she is summoned by the emperor himself. She finds herself torn between wanting to escape, but also wanting to help cure Livia, who is as sweet as her brother is tyrannical. When Sophie is able to make some headway in finding out Livia has been cursed by a vengeful fae, Decimus begins to see the value in keeping her alive. Together the two of them decide to set off on a quest to cure Livia. To do so they’ll have to learn to rely on one another and perhaps in that trust love can bloom.
