I didn't like the idea of having to keep walking but it wasn't like I had much of a choice. As we walked it got dark the flashlights helped but not much. It was so dark in the distance that it was hard to see anything three meters away from where you stood. There were no banndgergers for the moment. I suspect that they just stay around town at night. It was late, well I think it was. No clock or watches were bought from the shop. But we don't need that stuff. We just have to keep walking.
After what felt like years of walking we made it to the gate.
"All right Al, you ready?" I nodded "You sure? When we step out of the city anything can happen. you don't know how ruthless the monsters out there are. I don't even know. Are you sure we should go to west city?"
"100%"
We continued walking till we reached security.
"Hey where ya headed?" The door man excitedly asked.
"We-"
"West city sir, my names James, this is my brother Alex. We must leave the south and wish start again in the west. May we pass?" I'm not going to lie that was the most sophisticated thing I've ever heard James say.
"I- uhh, yeah yeah sure you kids can go. Good luck!" The man finished reassuringly. As we stepped out onto the bare fields my hands were trembling at the plains. No trees, grass or anything living in sight. So many things in my mind loudest was "how the fuck are we going to survive?"
As we walked we were both bored so we decided to have a chat with each other. What a shit idea. We talked for a while and then the "how'd you figure out you're gay?" question popped up in conversation and well that story was a bit overwhelming. But it's James and I trust him. Ok I'll tell him.
" So basically there was a girl in my class, yeah she's pretty, nice, smart, and sporty. I know the perfect girl. But, she sat next to a kid. His name was Oliver Jay. And he was absolutely fucking gorgeous. He had jet black slightly curly hair and always wore a red zip-up hoodie with dark blue ripped jeans and a pair of yellow converse. Not only did he look gorgeous he was super encouraging, funny, energetic, smart like genius and he was like the nicest and most amazing person I have ever met in my life! I wanted to be around him all the time. I thought he was so cool. And all the boys crowded around this girl but not a single girl around Ollie, and he looked at me this type of way that made my heart melt. And now I'm leaving right after I kissed him! How stupid am I!"
