petite woman. "Yes, he is my adopted father my parents died when I was younger, and Paladin Maxwell was a friend of my father they both were assigned to this outpost during the last war." As the large man began flipping over tables looking for what Shadow assumed was the man's ax he mentioned before. "Well, the base is cleared out I took care of the theocracy soldiers my mission was to assist you with your coms array, but it appears that wasn’t the issue." Suddenly the large man snapped around looking at the teenage boy before him. "That’s a load of horse shit if I ever heard it, you expect me to believe that a young knight witch, I'm guessing this is your right of passage mission, so you have no real experience took out the one hundred men that took my base." "Your more than welcome to step outside Paladin Maxwell, I assure you there is no one else here but me." While the two stared at each other Maxwell trying to judge the young man in front of him a small cough getting both their attention. "If you two are done seeing who is stronger. Father, we should call Bastion we need more troops, and the outpost needs major repairs, and if we are to defend it again an upgrade to are outpost weapons and maybe a shield array."
Maxwell cleared his throat and stood up straight. "Yes, Sage you are correct please place the call and inform them that Knight Shadow has also completed his first mission." "Yes, Father." Maxwell scratched his chin and looked at his adopted daughter run off to do that then at the young man next to him. "When you head back to Bastion, you're taking her with you that’s an order, not a request." Shadows looked up at Maxwell. "Sir?" "If we are about to start another war with those Theocracy bastards, I don’t want her anywhere near the front lines and as a young knight and noble you won't be sent to war unless we start to lose." Shadow remembered that Sage said both Maxwell and her father fought in the last war and this little skirmish wasn’t anything compared to war just as the thought entered his head Shadow quickly took his helmet off and threw up. Maxwell looked at the young man and started laughing slapping Shadow on the back hard enough to make the boy step forward a few paces. "So, the battle adrenaline wore off did it, Ha for your first battle I'm surprised you didn’t puke after killing the first one well at least now I know you're not some cold-hearted killer just a very cold person." "I'm glad you approve I had to learn to be hard and cold Sir Gregory was my mentor." "I see and you’re a Star at that so skills, power and influence." With that Maxwell picked up the massive woodcutters axe he had been looking for and walked off to attend to what was left of Outpost Zeta. "Build yourself and army fast boy hell will soon be at our doorstep."
