The townsfolk got wind of his activities and decided they would try to stop him, but they were too late, he arrived at the park as the sun was setting and heard a faint cry from the far edge of the park, near the river bank. He walked over, and saw poor little sally stuck in a cage, she was cold and fearful, but thankful that she had been found. He broke the lock on her cage.
She was filled with rage at the idiotic rules allowing a madman to run free, and swore she’d no longer be a sitting duck in this god-forsaken town.
Suddenly the seamstress came out behind the detective. The detective turned just in time, and managed to avoid being knocked out by the man. They began to tussle, and Sally managed to exit her cage in this commotion. The detective got hit, and fell over. The other man turned to sally and started towards her, saying she couldn’t leave and he wasn't finished with her. She ran to the shore edge, and decided to take the man down with her. An act of bravery or stupidity depended on who you asked. She knew her advantage was as a swimmer, so she took him under to level the playing field. As the man attempted to grab her she jumped back and pulled him into the river. The current swept them downriver, as they tumbled to resurface and get air. But she was a great swimmer, and the man hadn’t been prepared for this late evening swim. She clawed at his faces with her hands, and managed to kick him further under. She resurfaced and found her way back to shore. She did not see the man resurface, so he must have been pulled further downriver than she could see in the moonlight, or he had drowned.
The townsfolk arrived as she jumped, and the detective was found barely conscious on the ground. He told them she had been found and god willing she’d find her way back to shore. But, he also told them how stupid their rules were, that they had let a psychopath and serial killer run rampant in their town for decades. The elder backed him up, explaining the time before the rules were placed, and telling them they would believe her if they just looked up. The townsfolk hesitated, but slowly, one by one, they began to look. Once they did they were severely shocked, realizing the horror that was under their nose or rather above their head this whole time. Many of them faced fear like never before, realizing the secret they helped hide, whether knowingly or not. Sally made her way back to the park, and found the town in shock. Her parents saw her and rushed over, embracing her. “You never should have broken the rule, curiosity killed the cat” they said, she replied “and satisfaction brought it back, that rule should never have been made in the first place.” She thanked the detective for helping her. The elder came over and said I think it's time we clean this mess up, and right the wrongs.
And that my dear is the story of how my mum, your grandmother, changed this town for the better. Now remember Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back.
