Finding A Common Ground [II]

Finding A Common Ground [II]

Dec 10, 2024

The next day, Atlas signed the revised investment contract with the flourish of his pen.

After learning that he had received tens of millions of dollars in investment from Joseon company for his filming, the management of the directing department in Korea University, from top to bottom, expressed their support for him to make the film and directly approved a one-year leave of absence from school.

However, they had one request. That the film be shot at the Seoul Academy of Arts. This actually helped Atlas solve the problem of filming location.

Soon, Joseon company's funds arrived. The next issue was the preparation of the crew. The preparation of a film crew was undoubtedly an extremely complicated and troublesome matter.

But fortunately, Atlas now had Joseon company's support and professional personnel sent by Joseon company, so things were going quite smoothly.

Another part of the reason was that the show is small in scale and low in cost. Youth romance themes didn't require special effects or the like, and the filming location had already been finalized. With the assistance of professional personnel, things naturally went smoothly.

Set design, photography, lighting, makeup, costumes, art direction and the rest. The benefits of cooperating with a large company were fully demonstrated.

The company had sufficient and complete staff, and he did not need to take on a lot of work other than being a director like when he just started out in his previous life.

The assistant director sent by Joseon company was called Son Youngsoo. He was considered one of the best young directors in the business. He had directed several movies with box office revenues of over 100 million won, and the highest had even reached nearly 500 million won.

Relying on the memories from his previous life, Atlas quickly completed the storyboard script. During the crew's preparation period, Atlas didn't need to do much. Most of the work was led by Son Youngsoo.

He knew very well the reason why Joseon company sent him here, which was to keep an eye on this talented but eccentric director to prevent him from doing anything wrong.

And when necessary, he was to directly sideline the young boy to ensure the quality of the movie. So he took on a lot of responsibilities and performed all kinds of work in the capacity of a director.

But Atlas was not concerned. He looked completely indifferent.

The setting of this drama was relatively simple, and most of the plot lines took place on campus.

Son Youngsoo was also an experienced director. There was no problem in throwing the preliminary work to him. On the contrary, it saved him from wasting time. He really got involved in the film when it was time for casting.

Sitting in a classroom at the Seoul Academy of Art, Atlas flipped through the script.

Son Youngsoo sat at his left hand and was looking at Atlas. His impression of Atlas before now was very simple: Young, talented, and with some whimsical ideas of a fledgling. But now, he had a slightly new impression of Atlas. He believed this young director had absolute focus.

When he was reading the script, hs was completely focused on it. He felt joy, anger, sorrow and happiness along with the script, and was not disturbed by the outside occurrence at all.

"Let's start the auditioning. We don't need to waste more time." Atlas reviewed the script before asking people to come in for auditions.

The first person to come in was a male actor whom Atlas didn't know at all. His appearance was quite good. He was strong, sunny and full of vitality.

"Mr. Sang, Mr. Son, my name is Heo Jiwoo, and I'm here to audition for the role of Yun Jii."

He was quite humble. Yun Jii was the male protagonist of this play, and the love-hate relationship between him and Hyeong Yun is the most bloody highlight of the whole play.

Korean movies in those years all used this routine: love, abortion, car accidents, amnesia, and it always worked. These themes had been used for so long in his previous life world.

But in this world which was lacking in entertainment, it was definitely a killer weapon.

If Atlas wanted to attract investment, this kind of movie was his best choice.
