Prey on the Weak

Ep.1: Family Fun
A last minute desert backpacking trip? What could go wrong? It should have been obvious how many things would go wrong, but we were naive, and excited to see each other for the first time in years.
I packed up the last of my supplies, water, food, blankets, and one set of clothes. It was only supposed to be a 3 day trip anyways.
“Alright shitheads, who's ready to party?!”
“WHooooooO!” My siblings shouted at me as we locked up the car, and began our journey.
The trail was a loop that would lead us back to the car after about 2-3 days of hiking and adventure. I had brought my older sister, my two brothers. We have a record for planning things last minute, and miraculously pulling through, like that 50 mile bike ride my sister and I spontaneously completed. Unfortunately, I do not have the gift of premonition, and had no clue the events that were about to occur.
The hike started simple, with some squabbling between the boys, as we made our way through the trail. As night approached, we pitched our shelter, and ate dinner. I realized my siblings hadn’t been drinking any water.
“Make sure you stay hydrated!”
“Oh, we will, my sister said, bringing out the two bottles of vodka she had brought for us to enjoy.”
“I meant water, but what the hell, let’s party.”
After a heavy night of drinking, we slept past sunset, and started again on our journey, hungover, but enjoying the trip.We made steady progress, and stopped for lunch.
“Drink some water, it’ll help with the hangover,” I reminded them.
“If you’d ever give us water we would drink some,” they snarked.
“Drink your own water, losers.”
“You have our water, right?”
“No, we were supposed to pack our own… Don’t tell me you didn’t bring water?!”
“Oops…”
“We’re already halfway, it’s a little too late to go back, guess we’ll just ration what you have.”
I sigh, realizing how stupid I was to trust them to pack. Emma bothered bringing vodka bottles, but no water, what were they thinking? My siblings were intelligent, but had almost no common sense.
By the end of the day, we were dehydrated, and the sun was beaming down on us. As we approached our next camping spot, the ground rumbled.
“What was that?”
“Idk it’s probably fine, we’re in the desert. What's the worst that can happen?”
I shouldn’t have asked, I had to go and jinx it...
Before they could respond or react, the ground split wide open. A huge valley was formed as we fell through the air, screaming in confusion and fear. I was sure this would be how we died, as the four of us tumbled down into the crevasse, and hit the floor.
