Lavender slowly began to awaken. She tried to sit up but found that a heavy blade lay on her. She lifted her hand and grabbed the blade, lifting it and shocked to see the blue sword which had been restored. A nurse walked through the door with a chart.
“Ah, Lady Lavender, you’ve awakened.”
Lavender fully sat up and looked at the blue sword, which began to get a different color—a dark green.
“What’s this sword doing on top of me?”
The nurse walked around, looking at Lavender's body and making sure everything healed correctly.
“Your brother brought it here when no hope was left. Good thing he did, as when it bonded with you it somewhat enhanced your already enhanced healing ability. Except you don’t have to be in the fairy realm anymore, as it simulates the higher natural magic.”
Lavender looked at her fist, clenching it, then at her stomach which almost seemed to heal completely. “Though I’m sure it won’t regenerate your arm if you lose it, so try to be safe.”
Lavender looked at the blade as it began to adjust to her strength and her fighting technique. She got up fully and began walking out, with her brother following right after her from some other room.
“So, sis, what do you think that thing was?” Lavender looked at her brother with disapproval and a disappointed frown.
“Are you not doing your best in magical studies?”
Lukas nervously looked around, stammering on his words so much no clear sentence could be said. “Liches are former mages who do a great amount of evil during their living life, casting different rituals and the like so much no afterlife wants them. Then they get resurrected and have the power over the dead. A necromancer is the living equivalent of a lich, except a necromancer isn’t inherently evil. They could be good or bad mages with just the unfortunate luck of being given power over the dead, be it through a past relative who was a lich, or just a family skill like a secret art. Except it ain’t secret and anyone’s family can get it, but it’s rare.”
Lukas rolled his eyes. “I know some stuff, sister. Like how necromancers, if their skills are used, can’t enter either afterlife and just live on as ghosts, as the lord of death isn’t afraid of them, just liches.”
Lavender smiled as she looked on walking. She felt proud of her brother's somewhat, although bare, knowledge on the subject.
“But does that mean when you die, you’ll be on this plane of existence?” Lavender stopped as she looked at her brother, shocked. He stopped a minute or two later and turned toward her with emotionless eyes, with one eye being his usual blue color but lighter, and a digit had been cast around in the colors.
Lavender reached toward him, and suddenly he quickly got spooked and went back to his normal self.
“Are you okay?”
Lukas looked at his sister, aware of the situation yet a little unaware, as if he wasn't the same as before.
“Y-Yeah, but I heard you used a necromantic spell. Does that mean you'll not join our family when you die?” Lavender looked at her brother, upset by his words but still managing to hide it.
“We better keep going.”
Lavender said, continuing to walk toward her room. Once she got there, she turned toward her brother.
“You better head off to your dorm, as I’m gonna head in.”
Lavender said as she walked into her room, shutting the door behind her. She walked toward her bed and sat down, tossing the sword on the end table. She closed her eyes and began to fall asleep to her memories, replaying in her head.
