On this particular evening, the Edelweiss squad, consisting of about a dozen individuals,
lined up alone on the vast parade ground to be awarded their ranks.
They were the only team to have completed all their training ahead of schedule.
The one who presented them with their ranks was a major staff officer from the Royal Fighter Corps' Sixth Regiment,
who was rumored to have risen from the ranks of an ordinary soldier.
Looking at their uniform blue dress uniforms and the silver badges on their chests, the rookies were almost moved to tears.
"Anemia!" the major staff officer said to Captain Anemia,
"Why are you still using this name? Didn't the military department give you a new one?"
"I'm used to this name," Anemia nodded honestly, "Besides, it was given to me by my superior."
"You're really stubborn, never thought of changing it. How about you join me for a drink?"
"Sir, you go ahead!" Anemia turned to look at the rookies, "I'll take them for a walk around the city."
"Hahaha, I understand, tradition!" The major laughed heartily and tossed a small bag over: "The expenses are on me."
Captain Anemia didn't say thank you; he simply put the bag in his arms and turned to the rookies,
saying, "After dismissal, go back to your rooms immediately to get ready and prepare to head into town!"
"Yes, sir!"
Watching the group of rookies leave, laughing and playfully fighting, Anemia's gaze was no longer as cold.
"What are you thinking about, my lone hero?" The major walked up to him,
"These are some very spirited young men. I've read your reports; they're stronger than we were back then."
"They are strong," Anemia murmured, watching the backs of his team members. "But how many will survive after the war?"
"I strive to promote myself, precisely to use the power in my hands to let more people survive."
"Is that possible? You're just a bureaucrat." Anemia snorted coldly, "To let more people survive,
it takes a lot of training and correct command on the front lines."
The major was speechless, patted Anemia on the shoulder, and walked away.
The sound of footsteps clacking against the ground approached, prompting passersby to quickly make way.
A squad of soldiers marched at a steady pace down the center of the broad, clean street, taking up half of it,
forcing carriages and pedestrians to give way to them.
Although their behavior was rather domineering,
the patrolling city guard troops didn't dare to breathe heavily and instead looked on with ingratiating expressions as the arrogant soldiers passed by.
Captain Anemia walked ahead with his hands folded behind his back, followed by a line of rookies also walking with their hands clasped behind them.
On the eve of the interdimensional war between gods and demons, two passionate young men from the Demonic Alliance's Brook Empire enlisted in the military. They made many friends in the training camp and, under the leadership of the captain of the Snowflake Squad, they grew step by step to become the most outstanding warriors in the legion. They achieved victory in the final brutal battle. Just as they were about to embark on a safe journey home, an unexpected situation shattered all their hopes for a peaceful return after victory.
