Chapter 11: The Meeting

The morning sun streamed through the window, casting a warm glow on Kai's face. As he stretched, his muscular physique was highlighted by the morning light. Sarah, still half-asleep, couldn't help but admire her husband's strength and resilience. Her blonde hair was a mess, but her blue eyes sparkled with a sleepy charm.

After a refreshing shower, Kai stepped out of the bathroom, water droplets glistening on his well-toned body. The morning light accentuated his muscular physique, highlighting years of rigorous training. Sarah, who had just woken up, couldn't help but smile at the sight of her husband.

Turning towards the bed, Kai smiled at the sight of his daughter, her hair a tangled mess, her face serene in sleep. He gently kissed her forehead, careful not to disturb her peaceful slumber.

He headed to the kitchen, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filling the air as he prepared breakfast. Sarah soon joined him, her eyes filled with concern. "We're lucky to have you," she said, her voice soft. "It's not often we get to enjoy breakfast made by your hands."

She reached out and gently touched the scar on his left hand, a reminder of the dangers he faced. "Please, be careful," she pleaded. "I can't imagine life without you."

Kai squeezed her hand reassuringly. "I promise, I'll be careful," he said. "I'll be back soon."

With that, he left for his meeting with Captain Harris. Dressed in a sleek black suit, his muscular physique was accentuated by the tailored garment. As he walked, his confident stride and the subtle flex of his biceps hinted at the strength and agility beneath the polished exterior.

Captain Harris, a seasoned detective with a weathered face, sharp black eyes, and a head of white hair, greeted Kai with a somber expression. "I managed to arrange a brief meeting with Riley," he said. "Remember, you only have 15 minutes. Use your time wisely."

Kai nodded, his heart pounding with anticipation and dread. The meeting room was a sterile, dimly lit space. The glass partition separating him from Riley was mere inches away.

Riley sat on the other side, her once vibrant green hair now dull and lifeless. Her face, usually filled with a radiant smile, was now etched with sadness. The sight of her, so frail and broken, filled Kai with a deep sense of sorrow and anger.

"How are you, Riley?" Kai asked, his voice barely a whisper. "Tell me, who framed you?"

Riley's voice was weak and hoarse. "Please, forget about it," she pleaded. "You still have a family to care for. Live a good life."

Kai was stunned by her response. "Are you joking?" he exclaimed. "You're my friend, my family. And you're here because of me. I started this whole thing."

Riley cut him off, her voice firm. "Enough, Kai. You don't know the half of it. Just go."

Kai stood up, his anger rising. He slammed his fist against the glass, shattering it into pieces. The sudden noise alerted the guards, who rushed into the room.

"Meeting's over," one of the guards said, ushering Riley away.

Kai was left alone, his mind racing. As he walked out of the facility, he paused in a quiet alleyway. He pulled out the note Riley had slipped him, his heart pounding with anticipation.
