After he was sent an invitation via/message on the phone from Kina, after they exchanged
phone numbers. For this occasion, even if their first conversation was awkward and weird, as
Kenny thought about it, he still dressed well, with his best clothes and his most expensive
jewelry that he had packed for this trip.
He also called Stephan on his phone, since he was pretty frightened, as this was his first party
ever, and he didn’t want to go alone, but Stephan had an interview for an accountant job in the
morning so he couldn’t go.
Even though Stephan was spending his precious time with Kenny, he kind of forgot that he had
a girlfriend with whom he was about to get married next week, and he is a few years older than
him.
This fact is what Kenny appreciates a lot about him, is that he still cares to be with him in
this “foreign” place for him, where he doesn’t know the place, and the people, which slowly lead
to him having not that many friends here, except him and Kina… kind of…
The target place where he had to go, the “Fever Dream”, as Kina called it, was a place
underneath the cliff, where people around their age were partying every Sunday night.
But the road until then was more beautiful than he thought. It was around two hundred and fifty
meters until there. A place through the forest, with a gravel road and lit up with lantern pillars.
The edges of the path were blocked with large wooden fences that were decorated with
colored-paper decorations, and the leaves from the trees as well, for the trees that were right
near the fence.
The gravel path was around six meters in length, and it also had wooden benches placed here
and there, for people to chill here if they wanted to.
On the path, Kenny also saw more girls and boys around his age, and even older, that were
walking on the path towards the cliff.
Even if Kenny was about a hundred meters away, he could still hear the loud music bumping.
The melody going on was melodic rap.
Arriving at the place, that was more incredible than Kenny even imagined on how it would look
like. The entire cliff was large for around forty meters in height and it had a large pointy edge on
the top, that was directed towards the sea.
“Imagine watching the sunset from there”
Whispered Kenny, amazed by the entirety of the cliff.
Right underneath it, as Kenny walked in, he saw just like a large cavern, like a hole inside the
cliff, that was well decorated with graffiti all around the walls, and even on the very high roof.
Names, dedications, quotes and many more were written and drawn in different colored graffiti
and different fonts.
The same paper decorations were stuck to the roof; making the decorations look just like
colored-paper vines.
There were also a few large plastic and wooden tables, on which there were snacks, drinks, and
alcohol, one of the things that Kenny hated the most about parties, the alcohol.
From afar, the inside of the cavern looked just like the reflection of the world's biggest flashlight.
The night was warm and the air was cold-ish. The breeze was slightly pushing the fibers of
grass aside, letting them dance backwards.
Looking through the crowd and searching for Kina, Kenny couldn’t find her anywhere, and the
music didn’t help not even a bit; not understanding her voice at all.
From way deep, behind the massive crowd of people from the Fever party, there was a man
with a mustache, way older than Kenny, who shouted that the drinks and joy powder are ready
to consume. After that sentence, the entire crowd raised their hands and drank up in the air,
cheering for the man, with a joyful voice in their tones, some laughing and some energetically
cheering.
“Table number four, drink and snort all you want!”
Hearing that odd announcement, Kenny got even worried after hearing that there will be alcohol
and drugs, so he panicked really hard and slightly pushed everyone around from his path, while
he was heading with the crowd, not knowing which one was table four.
He finally heard a shout that was very similar to Kina’s voice. Following from where he heard it,
Kenny saw Kina snorting a two meter line of white powder, and drinking it down with half a bottle
of alcohol.
“What the hell…”
Whispered Kenny, shocked and scared for her life, quickly pushing everyone aside in his way
towards Kina.
On a closer look, Kina looked brainwashed and exhausted, sleeping while standing on her feet.
“Kenny… you’re here, hehehe… let’s be happy… (takes a handful of white powder from the
table that was filled with it, looking just like a construction site with massive piles of sand, and
showed it to Kenny, while her hands were shaking intensely.
“Your hands Kina, they’re shaking"
Upsetly said Kenny, with a shocked tone in his voice, feeling sorry for her
“Joy… powdeeer (laughs, barely being able to hold her eyes open)”
Sang Kina
He held her by her underarms because she couldn’t stay still in place.
“Come on, I’m gonna take you home, okay?”
Gently said Kenny, squatting down with his back towards her.
“Ooookay… (chuckles)”
She dropped herself on Kenny’s back and they both prepared to leave the Fever dream.
Right before they would take the turn, Kina, with her eyes barely open, saw her current
boyfriend with another girl. They were kissing like a passionate couple and her boyfriend was
grabbing her butt, also in a passionate way, which made the girl he was kissing with, to smile
and laugh.
Kina tried kissing Kenny, from the position she was in, but Kenny slowly turned his head away,
focusing on the road ahead, making sure he didn’t trip on some rock, but actually, the other
reason was that she didn’t want a kiss from her.
Kina’s reaction saddened, which turned into her tears wetting Kenny’s hoodie. She then placed
her face on his meaty shoulder, and fell asleep while being carried by the man himself.
The rest of the people from the Fever dream, looked just like zombies dancing just like wild
animals, shouting the lyrics that were more like a mumble, something incoherent. They have the
time of their life, but at what cost?
While walking back, Kenny stopped for a moment, took out a napkin from his pocket and wiped
the alcohol from her neck, her shoulders and her mouth, as well as wiping the “joy-powder” off
her small and pointy nose.
The road seemed to be taking too long to get back, which slightly annoyed Kenny because he
could write his story in this moment, or even sleep, but the fact that he will get Kina, safe, back
home, has made him change his mind about this trip in something good. But the fact that she
consumed alcohol with drugs is something that he can’t just brush off his shoulder, and he will
have to take action by talking with her father
“Mmm… I love you… love…mmm… Kenny…”
Mumbled Kina in her sleep, lazily hugging Kenny’s neck after which she kissed him, followed by
her going back to her dreams.
From that kiss, tried acting cool and unbothered, but his face was actually all red and he totally
felt the connection that she felt towards him, even if her mind wasn’t on the right track.
