Sometime later a dark and grand carriage pulled up in front of the inn I stayed at. The coachman entered the inn and inquired about me. I immediately understood that Marquess Pendragon Black had sent him to get me. Since I was traveling light, I introduced myself to him, showing him the black envelope and we departed right away.
The coachman told me the trip to the march would take up to four days, and asked me if I was prepared for the cold climate. I scoffed and told him the cold would be no bother to me, which is a mistake on my part.
By day three, we had entered the snowy mountains, and there were no signs of any sun. I regret my words and wish I had stopped by a store to get myself a warm cape, at least. Not all hope is lost; I can still infuse the current attire with a spell to keep myself warm and toasty until we arrive.
We enter a snowy forest path, and I’m barely able to see anything. It’s so white and very bright. The trees are covered in snow, which is mesmerizing. The carriage runs smoothly and the coachman is humming to a song. I felt myself drowsy, and I took this time to take a small nap before our arrival.
I wake up as we pass the checkpoint and enter the march. The houses and buildings are covered in snow, but the roads are clear of any snow. I peek outside and the citizens are walking about dressed in fur. This is a sight I would have never gotten the opportunity to ever see, if I remained in Yexirean Empire.
The carriage went on and entered deeper into a territory. I looked up and there was only a big mountain up ahead and I couldn’t see any way up. As soon as we got closer to the base of the mountain the sky became dark and gloomy. The carriage stopped at the base of the mountain and the coachman spoke,
“We have arrived miss, if you can wait for a few seconds we will teleport to the castle gate“
“Teleport?“
Before I could get a reply, the area surrounding the carriage glowed up and I instinctively closed my eyes. Seconds later I open my eyes, and the carriage is standing by a large gate surrounded by big fences. A man approaches the gate and is conversing with the coachman, then the man walks up to me, peaks inside, and lets the carriage through.
As soon as we passed the gates, my heart began to beat fast. I get that I’m nervous, but there is no reason for me to feel this nervous. Why should I be afraid? I can just use my magic to get away, live the rest of my life in the Yexirean Empire, and die without ever saving my master.
The carriage soon came to a halt in front of the entrance to the massive castle. The coachman opened the door for me, and I got out.
