Both hands on the grip, blade held fully vertical, with the edges turned to the sides. The pommel must remain parallel to your core—no compromises. Observe your reflection in the blade. Notice how it distorts, yet your eyes remain unchanged. Fixate on them. Let them carry the weight of your determination. Regardless of the foe, whether mighty or meager, those eyes are your anchor.

Relax your arms, but tense your shoulders. The burden of your kingdom rests on those pauldrons. Take two deliberate breaths: the first to steady your spirit, the second to summon resolve. Only then, when the moment demands it, will you transition to the second or third Holy Stance.

Now, a warning. Never—under any circumstances—assume this stance with the blade facing you. The last fool who did so caught a surprise strike and ended up with their own blade buried in their face. That fool, well… that fool was me.”

I still can’t believe this was the first form they drilled into us. You should always have your sword ready when in the face of your enemy!
