"Did you two grab all the books?" Mrigank shouted from a distance, eyeing Sirin and Anmay.
"We're here now. Not too late," Anmay chuckled, settling down.
"Alright, let's order," Mrigank said, sliding into the booth.
"Yes, quickly," Sirin urged, glancing at his phone.
"On it," Mrigank said, heading towards the counter.
"So, Sirin," Anmay began, leaning forward, "besides books, any other passions?"
"Everything, really," Sirin replied softly, "but books have a slight edge."
"And what exactly constitutes 'everything'?" Anmay grinned mischievously.
"Everything means everything," Sirin stated matter-of-factly.
"True, you're quite the recluse," Anmay chuckled.
"I prefer peace and simplicity," Sirin admitted quietly.
"Or silence, as Mrigank would say," the latter added, returning with their order.
"Silence is impossible with you around," Sirin retorted with a playful smirk.
"Forget that, I have some news you might find interesting," Mrigank said, displaying a photo on his phone.
"What news?" Anmay inquired, peering at the screen.
"An English poetry competition," Sirin announced.
"Ah, now we'll see if all that bookworming pays off," Mrigank teased.
"We'll see. I'll also investigate if there's a competition for professional napping," Sirin countered with a grin.
"First, register. Tomorrow's the deadline," Mrigank said, pointing to the date on his phone.
"I'll register today," Sirin said.
"Me too," Anmay declared.
"Poetry? You're more into films and sports," Sirin expressed surprise.
"Change is good. It's time to explore new things, even change myself," Anmay said, his gaze lingering on Sirin.
"But you don't even know the 'P' of poetry. Why waste everyone's time?" Sirin questioned.
"Doesn't matter. I'll participate, and you'll help me, won't you, Sirin?" Anmay asked, a hopeful smile gracing his lips. Sirin was slightly taken aback.
"Is Sirin a fool to help his own competitor? What do you think, Sirin?" Mrigank teased.
"Sirin is kind. He'll help me first, then we'll compete. Right, Sirin?" Anmay insisted, his eyes still on Sirin.
"I'll help as much as I can. Ultimately, the most talented and deserving will win," Sirin said softly, a quiet confidence in his voice.
"That's the spirit!" Anmay exclaimed, his appreciation evident. Sirin offered a gentle smile and lowered his gaze. Anmay watched him, a thought fleeting through his mind: Sirin is so outwardly calm, yet so pure within.
In the bustling city of Delhi, Sirin prefers the quiet comfort of his books over the complexity of human relationships. An introvert with a guarded heart, he is used to hiding his feelings—especially in a society where being different can be dangerous. When Anmay, an outgoing and warm-hearted classmate, steps into his life, Sirin starts feeling emotions he’s been too afraid to explore.
Eyes In The Skies is a heartfelt story of love, self-discovery, and the fear of living authentically in a world that isn’t always kind. As Sirin grapples with his growing feelings for Anmay, he faces the harsh reality of societal judgment, fearing rejection and the consequences of being true to himself. Torn between following his heart or staying hidden to protect himself, Sirin must make a choice: pursue his own happiness or live in the shadows of fear.
