The Bear Lodge Story

A comic I turned in for a history final, featuring my OCs Slim Jim and Black Hawk from Land of the Rising High Noon. The mountain in question is Mato Tipila/Devil's Tower.
*1: This story is adapted from Wooden Leg: A Warrior who Fought Custer, a 1931 compilation of stories told by Northern Cheyenne warrior Wooden Leg in his old age to physician Thomas Bailey Marquis, who translated and recorded the stories. This story is from page 52-54. Overall the story is the same, but small details have been changed to make adapting it to a comic flow better. In-universe justification for this is that Black Hawk is 1) Southern Cheyenne and not from around Northeast Wyoming, and 2) just some jock who doesn’t really practice his storytelling, so he would forget some details.
