Isolde stopspacing, her fists clenched.ISOLDE(softly)Next time, I'll end them.THE FOREST - AN AMBUSHAt dawn, Kalen and lsolde setout to scout the nearby area forany signs of Aeron or theShadow Humanoid. The forestis unnervingly quiet, the morningmist curling around ancienttrees like ghostly fingers.KALEN(whispering)Stay close. Something's wrong. Suddenly, shadow creaturesburst from the mist, their clawsslashing and tendrils wrappingaround the pair. Kalen draws hisblade, freezing several creaturesmid-lunge, but the sheer numberoverwhelms them.ISOLDE(panicking)Kalen, they're everywhere!A loud, mocking laugh echoesthrough the forest. The Shadow steps forward, its crimson eyes glowingmenacingly.SHADOW(taunting)Did you think you could escapeme? Your village fell. You will too.KALEN(defiantly)Not today.He charges, his blade cracklingwith frost.The Shadow counters effortlessly, swiping Kalen aside with a shadowy tendril.ISOLDE(screaming)Kalen!Isolde's flames roar to life asshe hurls fireball after fireball atthe Shadow. Theshadows absorb her attacks, theflames dissipating uselessly.SHADOW (patronizing)Fire cannot burn the void little one.Aeron appears from theshadows, his black-streakedflames scorching the groundaround them.AERON(grinning)You should've stayed hidden.THE FINAL MOMENTSKalen struggles to his feet,blood dripping from a gash onhis forehead.KALEN(weakly)Isolde... run.ISOLDE(tears streaming)I'm not leaving you!The Shadow Humanoid'stendrils snake toward Isolde,wrapping around her. Shescreams, her flames flaringwildly.SHADOW HUMANOID(gleefully)Such futile resistance. You are nothing.As the tendrils tighten, Isolde's vision begins to blur.Desperation floods her.ISOLDE(whispering to herself)No. I won't lose. Not like this.Her flames falter, and for amoment, all seems lost. Butthen, deep within her, a sparkignites. A thunderous roarechoes in her mind-a voice not her own.UNKNOWN VOICE(booming)You are more than fire. Let thestorm awaken.Isolde's body convulses as asurge of energy courses throughher. The air around her crackles,and the tendrils holding her areblown apart by an unseen force.ISOLDE(screaming)GET AWAY FROM HIM!She raises her hand, intending tounleash a wave of fire-butinstead, a bolt of brilliantlightning erupts from herfingertips, striking the Shadow square in the chest.THE LIGHTNING STRIKEThe forest is illuminated by theblinding flash. The Shadow shrieks in agony, itsform flickering and unstable.SHADOW(roaring)Impossible! Lightning.. dragon.reincarnation!The energy surges through theshadow creatures, obliteratingthem in an instant. Aeronstumbles back, shieldinghimself from the force.AERON(stunned)This... isn't over.He retreats into the shadows,leaving the battlefield scorchedand silent.AFTERMATH- REVELATIONSKalen crawls toward Isolde, whocollapses to her knees,trembling.KALEN(breathless)Isolde... what.. what was that?Isolde looks at her hands,electricity still faintly cracklingbetween her fingers.ISOLDE(whispering)I don't know. I.. I didn't mean to.Suddenly, Elder Rowan's wordsecho in Kalen's mind: "Thedragon's power chooses itsSuccessor."KALEN(awed)It's you. You're the LightningDragon.lsolde stares at him, her eyeswide with disbelief.ISOLDE(softly)Me? But... I thought I was-KALEN(interrupting)Fire was just the beginning.A NEW PURPOSELater, as the pair recover in thegrove, Kalen speaks quietly.KALEN(to Isolde)The Shadow fearsyou now. Lightning is hisweakness. You're the key tostopping this war.lsolde, still shaken, nods slowly.ISOLDE(determined)Then I'll train harder than ever.
