"My driver is here," said Helena, putting on her coat.
Kilee got up and reached her and Maria, who was saying goodbye.
"I will walk you downstairs," said Kilee, taking her keys. "Alright, thanks." Maria saw them getting out and turned back to clean the kitchen.
The elevator arrived, and Kilee and Helena were now getting down in almost utter silence.
"Have you something to say?" asked Helena, letting Kilee with bitterness.
"I have some plans tomorrow... so I may not attend the meeting as usual," said Kilee.
The fact that every winter, they had this family gathering made her pissed off, and she found something way better to do instead of listening to her shitty relatives. But she also knew Helena would be alone if she did not go.
Helena took a long sigh. "Listen, don't worry about me. I'll be fine. Also, I planned to run away somewhere in the middle of it." Hearing that, both laughed.
"You remember, right?" asked Helena. "The three rules!" continued Kilee.
- First: smile
- Second: nod your head
- Third: disappear, making sure no one noticed!
"The third one is the most important!" said both in chorus.
The two cousins always understood each other, and their bond became stronger over time.
Kilee walked Helena in front of the building, ensuring she was fine; after all that had happened, she had become more sensitive.
Helena was now heading home. The more time passed, the more she hated that place. If only her parents understood her more.
Lost in her thoughts while watching outside the window, the sound of a message on her phone turned her back to reality.
"Miss, you had better stay at your cousin's place tonight! Master brought home his friends."
That was the only maid who was her ally; she was the one who grew her up instead of her parents, and the only love she received and cared for was from that person.
"Thank you!"
She answered, but now, where could she go? She had just left her cousin's house and couldn't return home. At that moment, while watching outside the window, she saw a blonde guy walking with only his shirt on. She immediately had an idea.
"Sir, turn back the car, we have to go to the mall." The driver nodded and did as she said.
Back at Kilee's apartment.
"Maria," said Kilee, looking at her with sparkly kitten eyes.
"What is it?" she asked, looking back at her with one eyebrow rising. Kilee always looked at her like she was a sparkling jewel. This time, too, she lost herself looking at her.
"Kilee..." called Maria, giggling, making Kilee return to herself. "Ah, yea,h, she, "sh,e said, scratching h, embarrassed. Arrested. Let's go out tomorrow," she continued, putting her arms on the separation separating them.
"Like where?" asked Maria, noticing Kilees's lips curving up. "You do already have something in mind, don't you?" Kilee giggled.
"Of course!" said Sparkling. "So, do you want to go?" Her impatience was visible; if she had a tail, it would veer violently into the air.
"If you take me.." continued Maria, flirting with Kilee, who was already trying to calm her mind for being too spicy. The two were so into each other that the sudden doorbell made the mood embarrassing, or Maria got back blushing.
"AHEM, i'm going to see who it is," said Kilee, a bit pissed off while clearing her throat.
Maria just nodded; she was too embarrassed because, in her head, she already felt like tasting Kilee's lips; it would be way more intense than last time, and she was aware of her desire. But after the last time, the two had nothing special going on. Was it because things happened lately, or something happened in vogue at that moment? It left Maria a bit anxious. But she felt it was just a nuisance in her head seeing Kilee's behavior toward her.
Helena stood in front of that door, uneasy, wondering if she had made the right decision. She held a wine bottle and some cupcakes in her hands.
Her hands trembled while she reached the doorbell, and after some failed tentative attempts, she finally did it: she pushed the button.
That was the loudest ringtone she had ever heard. Was it because she was nervous or because it was in that apartment?
She had no time to find an answer when the door swung open, revealing a man wrapped in a towel, water cascading down his body.
In that scene, her jaw just fell on the ground; he was indeed as hot as the public image described him in newspapers.
Running a hand through his wet hair, he smiled. "What a pleasure to see you here. "
"Hello Kaji.. wanna have a drink?" said she with a strange, flustered voice, trying not to look at him while telling herself it was a damn bad idea.
That woman amused him, and after they became friends after their last drink together, he felt at ease around her.
"come in," they said, walking back in, leaving the door open for Helena.
"I feel like I'm entering a lion cave," she said before shutting the door behind her.
"i'm gonna wear something, just feel like home," said Kaji before getting back to his room, leaving Helena standing there looking at him incredulously.
'I may be out of my mind,' thought she. She was speechless. How could that man be so flashy, even though he wasn't supposed to? 'I'm lucky I know him, or his look would sway me,' continued she, putting the wine and muffin on the tables. Because of her parents, she could not make any friends with other people; there was Kilee and now Maria, too, but she couldn't mess up their lives either. And now Kajiwas wasn't bad; he was just a bit strange, but it was customary in a world like them.
She was immersed in her thoughts, not noticing that Kaji was now standing behind her with his hair still wet.
"What are you standing here for? I told you to accommodate," said him.
That took her back to reality. "Ah, I was immersed in my thoughts. I'm sorry," she said, all flustered.
"Here are some muffins too. What flavor do you like?" turning back to him, she noticed his hair was still losing water, making his clothes wet. "Your hair," she said.
"Ah, it's fine..." he tried to say, but she interrupted him. "It's not! Where is the towel?" Helena said, upset, as he pointed toward the bathroom.
She took a towel from the wardrobe and made him sit on the couch. Gently, she rubbed his hair with the towel to remove the excess water. Her touch was so delicate that he found himself relaxing under her care. He sat on the floor before her, resting his head on her knees. He didn't want her to see the emotions on his face. No one had ever done this for him—not even his mother. He thought it felt nice.
