The dilemma of an innocent

However, unknown to Yetunde, the sexual intercourse with Segun’s father had made her conceived. She had her menstruation period the following month and the second month basically.

But at the third month, her period seized totally. As a result, Yetunde became feverish with some strange symptoms. She got worried about her condition. She needed a timely solution to the plight.

Without any further delay, Yetunde complained to her doctor and visited the hospital for series of tests. At last, the Obstetrics and Gynaecologist doctor declared her pregnant. It was confirmed beyond doubts that the woman was carrying a well-positioned three months old pregnancy inside her womb.

 Yetunde endured to comply with the doctors’ orders as regards the pregnant. However, the confirmation of the pregnancy was a great bombshell to Yetunde. She was dumb-founded on the spot!

 Really, her body changed during that period. People did not suspect that she was pregnant at all. They thought she only had rest of mind that made her to put on some weight as noticed.

When the reality of pregnancy was down on Yetunde, she became upset with heartache. It was like an unimagined dream.

‘’Ahaaa! I’m in hot soup! ‘’ Yetunde told herself on hearing the mixed-up absurd news of unwanted baby pregnant as double-confirmed by the medical doctors.

‘’Who shall claim the child?’’

‘’Will it be Segun or his Father?’’

She wondered within herself. It was as if the world was about crumbling without notice. She was battling the plight of life alone. There was no bosom friend around to share the dilemma with at that crucial time.

‘’ What kind of Crossed road experience is this?’’  Yetunde inquired. She was panic and gabbled seriously. She hates herself for the pending mess.

‘’How will I explain myself now? ’’

All these thoughts and questions ran through the mind of the hard-bitten Yetunde on that fateful day as she left the university clinic where she went for the pregnancy test. She was registered for Anti-

Natal Clinic the following day.

She became nervous and empty instantly. She wailed and began to weep silently with tears of blood and sorrow! It was a turbulent and frustrated experience.

When Yetunde got her private apartment, she stood naked before the standing mirror to re-examine her tummy.

’’ Yes, am carrying a baby! ’’ She told herself.

What has happened has happened, there‘s no going back again. She was not ready for any abortion as a godly girl that knew the implication of such attempt.

Yetunde became confused and badly depressed. With an unkempt hair, she could not eat anything throughout that day. She was disgusted and highly grieved to the marrow. She never expected such to happen to her.

‘’What will be the way forward now?’’ remained a big question to the frustrated angel in human skin from that moment of reality.

Yetunde was bitterly troubled and downcast. The day was dark to her. She could not sight things clearly any longer. Her thoughts were absurd and tampered with. She almost cursed the day she was born to this world of vanity.

‘’ Will the barking of dog killed the dog? ‘’ Really, Yetunde was not interested in playing double game.

 Yetunde slept off with various thoughts ruling her distressed heart.

Nevertheless, at the mid-night in the midst of the trouble, Yetunde took a u-turn from the grief. She made up her mind to boldly informed Segun about the pregnancy news so as to cover and bury what occurred.

After all, Segun can never deny having sexual intercourse with her on free tickets several times when they stayed together during the last semester break-holidays. Awaken at dawn with the first noise of the birds.

She phoned Segun and got him vividly informed.

‘’Hello Dear, I have a good news; your baby is in my tummy already!

Segun received the news with great surprise and mixed feelings.

‘’Oh Sweetie…but that’s too early’’ Segun responded.

Actually Segun was not too serious at the dating but the news hooked him completely. He was trapped and caged!

The golden-boy Segun urgently met Yetunde at the university campus the next day for verification and necessary heart-to-heart discussions. Segun had no alternative than to accept fate and plan immediately the way forward in life.

There is no result that unprotected sexual intercourse with a girl cannot bring. Yetunde expressed her deep concern about the pregnancy but Segun waved all the fear from her mind.

 ‘’The child on the way will be the top crown of my love for you…I can‘t dis-own you because of anything again in this world’’

 On that day before his departure, Segun sang to her hearing the beautiful and popular song of Whitney Houton: ‘’I will always love You!’’

He made Yetunde to realise the renewal of love between them.

’’ Oh, my dear…that’s why I love You too…I love everything about You, my precious Gold….My Lover, My Best Friend Ever!’’

Yetunde responded offhand.

While inside the latest version of 7 series BMW new car,-most prestigious and expensive; that Segun came to Ilorin with. He made a parting comment:

‘’ Yetunde, I have to say this, there are a lot of women who have accomplished a lot. But in my estimation; you top them all’’

Segun voiced with something of awe in his voice. They parted with a whirlwind romantic kiss and great excitement. Almost immediately, Yetunde flashed back at one strong advised from her late mother:

‘’ Be sure that you marry a person with whom you can share your thoughts and feelings. You should marry a person who will be your very best friend and companion!’’

 On that memorable day, Segun re-assured Yetunde of his care and steps to be taken to formalize the relationship between the two of them in other to forge ahead. He promised to inform his parents immediately.

He sincerely demonstrated his deeper interest, desire, love, kindness, best wishes and affection graciously for the appealing Yetunde.

When a child visits the forest and it got to the mid-night before returning. There will be no option than to take the bold-step for reaching home in the dark. Nothing to fear again!
