A few minutes passed before I decided to go rest. It took me a while, but I finally managed to fall asleep. I woke up after a few hours, got myself ready, and sat up in bed. Suddenly, the door to the room opened, and four guards entered with rifles in their hands. One of them immediately spoke up:
- D-4347, you will come us.
- Where to? - I asked, confused.
- You're not the one to ask the questions here. Now, you will follow us, he replied, pointing his rifle at me.
Reluctantly, I began to walk toward them. One of them pushed me forward, and soon I was surrounded by all four of them. We walked down the hallway in silence—as quiet as one might expect in the Foundation.
Suddenly, we heard a loud explosion, and the floor shook slightly. A lamp above us fell from the ceiling and fell straight onto the head of one of the guards, causing him to fall unconscious, dropping his rifle. At that moment, an alarm sounded. The other guards looked at each other, their faces showing surprise and concern.
- What's this about? - one of them asked.
- I have a bad feeling about this... You think Mike will be fine?
- I don't know, doesn't look too good..
Suddenly, an MTF unit ran through the middle of the corridor, armed to the teeth. One of the soldiers shouted to the guards:
- Chaos Insurgency Attack in Sector 5! You're coming with Us, NOW!
Without a second thought, the guards followed the squad, leaving me alone.
I stood there for a moment, trying to understand what Chaos Insurgency is and why they were attacking the Foundation. Ultimately, I picked up the rifle lying on the ground and headed in the direction they ran.
After running for a while, I heard gunshots and screams that subsided immediately after. I cautiously peeked around the corner. The next scene I saw was shocking, bodies of MTF guys, rebels and the guards who were supposed to escort me were lying on the floor. In the midst of this chaos stood Dr. Faro and opposite him were several attackers in weird attire I had not seen before.
- Hands in the air, Mr. doctor, and nobody will get hurt! - shouted one of the rebels, aiming at Dr. Faro`s head.
The doctor just grinned and replied calmly:
- And why should I do that? I don't think you'd want to cause any further bloodshed, would you?
- Don't try to take pity on us! Put your hands up, now!
Faro chuckled and continued:
- I know very well that none of you would dare-
He couldn't finish before one of the rebels fired, hitting him in the arm. Strange, purple-red blood began to ooze from the wound. The sight of that color petrified me to the core. I immediately hid behind a wall, but in a way that I could still see what was happening.
Dr. Faro looked at his wound, his previous smile, replaced by a cold, impassive expression. He touched the wound and looked at his hand, tainted with blood. At that moment, static and strange glitches began to appear around him. The rebels immediately took battle positions.
The Doctor snapped his fingers, and a metal staff materialized next to him, a translucent purple sphere at the tip. The static intensified, and there was an icy, metallic coldness in the air that sent shivers rolling down my spine.
Hello everyone, my name is Aiden, or D-4347. I'm from Texas. I've been working for the Foundation for... well, so long that I've lost track of time. I only work for the Foundation because I had financial troubles. You can’t just leave it on your own; to get out, they have to release you. It just so happens that they’ll be letting me go soon. I hope these last few days here will pass quickly.
How did I end up here? I got a message from an unknown number offering me a job, though I had no idea back then what I was getting into…
I was transferred to Site-73, whatever that is… There are a lot of armed people here, which should mean that this place is safe, right?
I don’t feel safe here; this place seems… strangely suspicious. I hope that once they let me go, I’ll never have to come back to this cursed place again…
