Cresvalis Realm

Chapter 16

Chapter 16

Jan 15, 2025

Cassian POV

Morning came, and I leaned over Rox, her peaceful expression stirring something deep inside me. I pressed a soft kiss to her forehead, savoring the moment as her eyes fluttered open, drowsy yet luminous.

“Good morning, beautiful,” I murmured, my voice husky with warmth.

Rox stretched, her lips curving into a soft smile, her black hair tumbling messily around her face. “Morning, Cassian,” she replied, her voice still heavy with sleep.

We slowly got up, showering together, and I found myself fighting the primal urge to claim her right there. She was perfection in every way—curvy where it mattered, her full lips driving me insane, and her skin smooth under my hands as the water cascaded over us. Her body was intoxicating, but I reminded myself to show restraint.

Once we were dressed, I couldn’t help noticing how Rox stole glances at me when she thought I wasn’t looking. I smirked, slipping my cufflinks on slowly, knowing she enjoyed the sight of me shirtless. I wore a sharp, tailored black button-down that clung to my broad shoulders and chest, paired with dark slacks that complemented my muscular frame. My hair was neatly combed to the side and back, exuding the authority of a king.

Rox looked stunning as always, her long black hair flowing down her back, framing her soft features. She wore a fitted, deep-red blouse tucked into black high-waisted trousers that accentuated her curves. The gold accents on her blouse brought out the warm undertones of her skin, and her subtle makeup made her lips even more enticing.

I walked over to her, adjusting her collar slightly. “You look stunning,” I said, my voice dropping an octave.

She blushed lightly, brushing a hand through her hair. “Thank you. You don’t look too bad yourself, Your Majesty.”

I chuckled. “Flattery will get you everywhere, Rox.”

As we prepared to leave for the pack house, I turned to her, my expression serious. “Rox,” I began, my tone steady but soft, “I wanted to let you know I spoke with the Alpha and the elders last yesterday—before our date.”

Her brows knitted in confusion, her eyes searching mine. “You did?”

I nodded, taking her hands in mine. “I told them about us being fated. It’s important they know, especially since rumors will spread when they see us together.”

Her eyes widened slightly, her voice uncertain. “Cassian... you didn’t tell me you were going to do that. I wish I had time to process it.”

“I understand,” I said, keeping my tone calm, though my jaw tightened slightly. “But you’re leaving with me, Rox. No one else matters here. You’re my erastaí—my chosen. Let them gossip if they want. It won’t change a damn thing.”

She sighed, a flicker of unease in her expression, but she relented. “Alright, Cassian. I trust you.”

Satisfied, I kissed her forehead and led her to the car. Small arguments didn’t faze me; I knew what was best for us both.

The morning passed uneventfully at the pack house. I immersed myself in meetings with the advisors, discussing the infrastructure of the pack and plans for future improvements.

Rox, meanwhile, busied herself with preparations for the upcoming ball, working efficiently with her team.

Around lunchtime, I sent her a text, the anticipation of seeing her making my chest tighten.

>> Cassian: “Lunch? Dining hall in 5. I’ll be waiting.”

>> Rox: “Of course, Your Majesty. I’m on my way.”

>> Cassian: “Good. I miss you already.”

I arrived at the dining hall with my men, grabbing lunch and sitting at a table near the center. The others engaged in muted conversations, but I kept my focus on the entrance, waiting for Rox. When she finally walked in, I couldn’t help but admire her again—the way her blouse hugged her figure, the confidence in her stride.

Once she had her food, she joined us, sitting across from me. My men greeted her politely before turning back to their meals, as I’d made it clear earlier that introductions weren’t necessary yet.

“How’s your morning been?” I asked, my voice low as I leaned slightly toward her.

“Busy,” she admitted, sipping her water. “But productive. Though, I’m a bit worried about Amy. She’s been calling in sick for days now.”

I frowned, my brows furrowing. “That’s unusual for her? Have you tried reaching out?”

“Not yet,” Rox replied, her tone thoughtful. “I didn’t want to push, but it’s not like her to be absent for this long.”

I nodded, the wheels in my mind turning. “I’ll have someone check in on her,” I assured her. “You focus on the ball. I’ll handle the rest.”

Rox smiled softly, gratitude evident in her eyes. “Thank you, Cassian.”

“Always,” I replied, my tone firm. She was mine to protect, after all, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
