The drive back to the apartments was short. No-rea was bubbling with excitement, retelling the scenes of the ballet to Seol-a. Her enthusiasm was infectious, both girls talking quickly as they gushed over the performance. Seol-a describing the different dancing styles to No-rea, explaining the incredible talent one needs to execute each movement. No-rea listened, amazed at the level of athleticism the dancing needed to be able to perform at the level shown at the ballet.
Her heart had settled down since being in the theater. Talking to Seol-a about the performance had been a much needed distraction from all the feelings crashing through her. Like the waves in the ocean, she couldn’t fight her feelings. They pushed her around and at times she felt like she was drowning, after each wave of emotion crashed over her. Even as they talked about the performance she could still feel her body ache, begging for her attention.
No-rea brushed her hair, feeling the pins holding her hair in place. She looked out the window to stop herself from fussing and fidgeting uncomfortably. She watched as they pulled onto their street, seeing her apartment coming into view. The night was over. She felt a pang of sadness, no matter how overwhelming her feelings were, she didn’t want to leave Seol-a.
Seol-a found a spot on their street and parallel parked the car. She put the car in park but didn’t shut it off. They sat for a moment before Seol-a turned to No-rea.
She smiled sweetly at her, “I’m glad you had a good time tonight.”, Seol-a said sweetly.
No-rea nodded, sharing her smile, “I did. I would love to go to the ballet another time.”
The air around them was thick, creating some sort of invisible tension. No-rea reached for the door, forcing herself to move. She started to wish Seol-a a good night, when she heard her name.
Seol-a looked at her intensely, her eyebrows furrowed as if she was in some sort of pain.
No-rea stopped, “Sorry” ,she said reflexively. The look Seol-a gave her made her nervous. She turned her body to face Seol-a fully, she could feel her heart pounding in her ears.
Seol-a focused on her, looking deeply into No-rea eyes, “Would you like to come up for a bit”. No-rea felt her body tingle, the hair on her arms rising with nervous excitement. She couldn’t! It took everything in her to control herself tonight, who knows what she would do if they were alone. She felt her body get hot as her imagination ran wild, thinking about what could happen if she went up to Seol-a room. She felt Seol-a hand on her arm, burning her through the layers of clothes. She couldn’t be alone with her with these feelings.
No-rea smiled trying to come off sincerely, “It’s already pretty late. I should go home.”
Her hands felt clammy as her feelings fought against each other. Her anxiety and need for peace begging her to leave the car. She felt Seol-a squeeze her arm. She looked deeply into Seol-a’s eyes searching for the right answer. Something in Seol-a eyes pulled her closer like a magnet. Was she the only one fighting these feelings?
Seol-a obviously disliked the idea, “Just for a little a while.” ,her brows furrowed, her eyes staring intensely at No-rea.
The enormity of No-rea’s desire burned through any excuse she could come up with to leave. Desperate to understand what was happening to them, she nodded. “Okay.”
Seol-a reached out for No-rea arms, being careful to not grab somewhere else. She couldn’t let No-rea leave without telling her how she felt. Next semester everything would change, the work load from her Major would consume all of her time and she couldn’t expect No-rea to wait for her any longer. She needed to tell her now before it was too late.
“I should go home.”, No-rea stated. The thought of No-rea leaving now visibly shook Seol-a. How could she convince her to stay just a little long. She had thought of this moment for two weeks. She had so many conversations with No-rea in her head, expressing all the feelings she had bottled up. She had confessed to No-rea one hundred times at this point, some desperate, begging for consideration and some were sweet, No-rea happily accepting her feelings. She had even kissed No-rea in these dreams, the thought alone burned through her like a fever, making her whole body throb with anticipation. She never thought that the night could end with her never uttering a word.
“Just for a little a while.” ,she said, desperate. It was a weak plea, but she couldn’t tell No-rea that she didn’t want her to leave. She could tell her how she wanted to hold No-rea as close to her as she physically possible either.
They sat silently for a moment before No-rea nodded, “Okay.” ,she said softly.
Seol-a looked almost shocked but quickly composed herself, she turned the car off.
They walked across the street to Seol-a apartment. The silence between them was deafening, neither one of them knowing what to say. Seol-a unlocked her apartment, stepping aside so No-rea could enter, softly closed the door as No-rea took her shoes off. Seol-a leaning on the wall to step out of her heeling, stepping onto the cold floor was grounding. She looked at No-rea awkwardly standing in the entryway. Without saying anything she reached for No-rea’s coat, unbuttoning the four buttons that held the jacket close. Opening it, she reached for the collar to fully remove the coat but No-rea stepped back away from her.
“I can take it off.” ,No-rea said breathlessly.
“I know you can.” ,Seol-a said softly, stepping toward her. She reached out again and opened the coat at No-rea's shoulders, brushing her hands down No-rea’s arms as the coat was removed. Seol-a turned around and opened the coat closet , hanging No-rea’s coat. Taking her coat off, she felt the cool air on her bare shoulder and across her back. She reached for another hanger and put her coat up. Turning back she looked down at No-rea, she had turned away from Seol-a, her arms folded in front of her almost like she was holding herself.
“Are you cold?” ,Seol-a asked, walking over to the thermostat. She turned the heat up hoping to make No-rea more comfortable.
“Why did you invite me up?” ,No-rea asked, tension in her eyes as she looked at Seol-a. Her arms still folded across her body. Seol-a walked across the room, gently taking one of No-rea’s hands. She brushed her fingers across her knuckles, caressing her hand before she answered, “There’s something I need to tell you.” ,she said matter of factly.
Seol-a pulled No-rea to the couch, holding onto her hand as they sat down. She took a deep breath and exhaled slowly before looking at No-rea, “For a long time now I haven’t been honest with you. Or with myself, really.” ,she said. She squeezed No-rea’s hand hoping their touch would give her strength, but her nerves were getting the best of her.
No-rea took Seol-a hand between both of hers, “You can tell me anything.” ,she said, trying to be reassuring.
Seol-a heart was pounding making it hard to breath but she had to say it. “I have feelings for you.”, she said, that one statement felt scolding. Burning through her body, making her keenly aware of all her senses. She couldn’t look at No-rea or she would lose her nerve.
“My feelings aren’t innocent like a friends should be. I want more. I want to be with you all the time. I feel jealous towards your ex, even though I have no right too. I want you all to myself. I don’t want you to pay attention to anyone but me.”
The confession felt overwhelming as her feelings came rushing out. Now that she had started she couldn’t stop. She looked at No-rea, who looked in shock, completely motionless, eyes wide as she stared at Seol-a. She felt herself become incomposed, slowly falling apart as she talked.
“I want to be your lover.” ,Seol-a said softly, sweetly, as she reached out with her other hand and caressed No-rea’s check. Looking at the shock in No-rea’s face she felt her heart drop. She felt tears in her eyes, had she been wrong? There had been so many moments between them that she had misinterpreted. She never thought she would cry if the confession didn't go well, but she felt tears burn in her eyes. Seol-a pulled away but felt a firm hand on her arm, pulling her back.
“Wait.”, No-rea looked up at her bewildered, “You like me?” ,she said it as a statement, not allowing any room for misinterpretation.
Seol-a nodded her head, “I like you.” ,she said softly, feeling numb. Before she could think, she felt No-rea wrap her arms around Seol-a, bringing her into a crushing hug. Shocked by the contact Seol-a yelped in shock, as No-rea squeezed her tight.
As quickly as the hug began, it ended. No-rea pulled away as if she was shocked by her own movement. She sat upright pushing her palms into her knees, “I’m sorry.”, she said and then laughed, “I just got so happy, I moved without thinking.”
No-rea touched her face, “My cheeks are on fire. I think I’ve been blushing all night.”
She reached over to Seol-a, who stared at her stunned speechless. Grabbing Seol-a’s hand she brought it up to her face. Seol-a was struggling to keep up with the change of pace, still thinking she had been rejected. No-rea held Seol-a hand to her face and kissed it gently. She continued to hold onto her hand as she spoke, “I have a secret too. I’ve liked you for a long time.”
No-rea beamed at Seol-a, her smile giving her clarity. A tear rolled down Seol-a face, No-rea reached out and wiped it away. Pulling her face down she gently kissed Seol-a.
Her entire body relaxed into her. She brought her hands up touching her face as the kiss became more passionate. She felt electrified, feeling untapped energy pour into her. She didn't know where she began and where she ended.
No-rea pulled away, completely out of breath. She stared into Seol-a eyes feeling herself being pulled back in. She leaned in and kissed her again.
They wrapped their arms around each other. Leaning into each other for support, desperate to feel everything. She felt her tongue pass by her lips, like molten lava melting everything in its path. She opened her mouth, unable to resist this feeling, desperate to taste her. Her body burned with desire as the feeling from her mouth travelled down her body, pouring in between her legs.
Seol-a pulled back, her eyes were dark with desire as she looked at No-rea. She knew she wouldn’t be able to stop if they kept going. She didn’t want to stop. Her whole body ached to be touched by No-rea. She swallowed, “No-rea, If we keep going,” ,she paused, feeling the throbbing in her belly, “I won’t be able to stop.”
No-rea smiled at her as she wrapped her arms around her neck, “I don’t want to stop”. She kissed Seol-a lightly on the neck, causing her to gasp. Hearing her gasp made the ache in between No-rea legs throb. No-rea kissed Seol-a's neck again before pulling away, “I know exactly what type of relationship I want with you and right now, I want to have sex with you.”, No-rea leaned in and kissed Seol-a on the mouth. She reached up and cupped Seol-a face, “I want to be your lover.”
