“So that’s why, I will be bringing my savior back with me today.”
“…Huh?” Mir’s voice cracked a bit in disbelief. “W-What do you mean you’ll bring your savior with you?”
“I meant it as unilaterally as it sounds, you know?”
“Hoh!” Mir exclaimed loudly, an expression he would only use when he’s trying to deny reality and is picking himself up from it.
There was silence at the other end of the line. It was long enough to make Gantz pull back his head to inspect the communication marble and wonder whether the connection had been cut off or something. The marble was still glowing, meaning that the connection is still on.
“So,” Gantz brought the marble close to him again after hearing Mir’s voice appearing again from it.
“So, what causes this dum- I mean abrupt decision of yours?”
Gantz awkwardly chuckled. “You don’t have to correct your speech, you know? And I don’t think my decision is THAT bad.”
“Isn’t THAT bad? Don’t you remember the egging goliath spider you brought back a few years ago? That one grew up into the size of a horse, and has been terrorizing our back gardens since then. Most of your inane decisions involved non-living object, but that spider incident definitely takes the cake.” Mir complained, long.
“Well…” Gantz scratched his cheeks. Now that he remembered it, he did bring some dangerous items or animals back to the company because he thought they could monetize it. Some of it made it out to the public, while others, well, let’s just say it’s an ingredient for greater research in the future.
“But, but I can assure you that this time, it’s not an stupid decision. I mean, it’s my savior after all. I wanted to repay them for saving my life, but my resources are limited when I go out peddling. That’s why I wanted to bring them with me.”
“But to bring the savior here to the company? You can just visit them again and hand them a reward or something. Why go to such lengths?”
“Well…” Gantz dithered. At that point, he was practically out of excuses to give Mir. He also wondered why he was so adamant on wanting to bring Bear with him. However…
“Can Bear go on an adventure with Gantz?”
That simple statement won over Gantz. He did tell Bear that he was merely returning home, but Bear said he wanted to come, and he has that hopeful look in his eyes which made it hard for Gantz to refuse.
Now that he thought about it, that was a rather weak reason, and he wasn’t one to impulsively agree to a deal.
“…Because, he healed me?”
Mir fell silent.
“Just because a stranger applied your potion or two for you doesn’t make them your savior.”
“No, it’s his potion.” Gantz instantly blurted. He grimaced after that, regretting his impulsive answer.
“So, it’s a ‘he’, huh? Well, then again, just because a stranger used their potions on you, doesn’t make him your savior now, am I right?”
“Nope, he ground the potion right in front of my eyes, splattered some on me, and healed my stab injuries just like that. No scar.”
Mir froze.
“…What?”
