Surviving the Novel I Never Read

Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Jan 21, 2025

I haven't done anything but sleep all day, hoping this is just a dream or a waiting area for the dead. But it's not. I'm here, wherever this is. The maids have woken me up several times, but I just pretended not to hear or that I was sleeping soundly.

It's night now and I'm looking out at the balcony. I'm also getting hungry, but I'm scared to go out! I don't know what this palace is or what the princess I've possessed is like.

“What the hell is going on.” I pulled my hair.

After a few hours, I couldn't take it anymore. I slowly opened the door to the room and stuck my head out. I peeked left and right and when I was sure no one was around, I went out.

I walked slowly, observing the hallway I was walking through. I can say that I am really in a palace.

Or maybe this is my second life? And I'm a princess? But shouldn't I be a baby first, not a young woman right away.

I just shook my head at the thought and continued walking.

There aren't even any pictures or portraits? All I see are expensive flowers and vases. Should I sell these vases? I'm sure they're real gold.

I don't know where my feet took me, and I found myself near a fragrant scent. Food! Just in time, I'm starving. Thankfully, it looks like the people here are asleep.

Because I don't know what to do if I meet someone.

“Did you hear the news?”

I stopped walking when I heard someone talking. I pouted when I felt they were in a room where the smell of food was coming from! Wrong timing, man.

“The one about the first prince of Von Valkenridge? Yes! Who wouldn't.” Said the woman, as if she was getting a little excited.

Von Valkenridge? I think I've heard that before. But I can't remember where!

“He's so handsome.”

“But they say he has a bad temper.”

I scratched my head, it looks like they won't be done with their gossip. I'm really starving.
I took a deep breath and was about to enter when another woman spoke again.

“Prince Lorcan Clive Von Valkenridge! A well-known prince with a bad temper in different kingdoms.”

I stopped and almost got dizzy from the name she mentioned, it's so long. Wait, I think I heard that from Tamara?

I felt nervous and slowly remembered where I heard that name!

“Just read it! I swear the villain is so handsome.”

I just shook my head and continued reading the novel I was reading.

“The story is good! You won't regret it.”

I lazily looked at her.

“I'm not in the mood yet. Why are you so pushy about this story?”

“Because it's good?” She pouted, which made me raise an eyebrow.

“Because the prince slash villain is handsome, like a bad boy, I mean he's really bad! Cold, snobbish, a lot of people like him but he's said to have a bad temper. But girl! The author's explanation of his looks, his clothes. Please! Add to cart.” She narrated excitedly.

“Your type.” She added.

“Sorry, my husband for this month.” I tease and wave the book I was reading. She pouted.

“Just read it after this! Prince Lorcan Clive Von Valkenridge is the best of the best husbandos.” She said excitedly.

“In fairness, the name is handsome. But it's so long.” Well, that's normal for a novel.

I leaned against the wall as I processed what I remembered. No, it can't be. I'm inside the story?
Maybe the author just based it on a real-life name, but even if it was! I haven't seen any real prince with that name on social media. I know Tamara told me that the prince was popular on social media because the novel was popular.

How? How did I get here?

My whole body is getting cold at the thought that I'm inside the novel!

“That's what Princess Aurelia said too.” Tamara added while hugging the book.

“Princess Aurelia?”

I flinched when I saw the girls dressed in maid uniforms with worried faces.

If I'm in the novel, the body I've entered is Princess Aurelia.

Oh, my god.

I shook my head and smiled. I couldn’t let them doubt me, they might think I’m possessed. And then they might call in all sorts of things. I didn’t want to cause trouble.

I straightened up and just smiled at them.

“Um…what is it?” I asked calmly.

They looked at each other and quickly shook their heads.

“I would like to eat.” I said in a gentle voice because I wasn’t sure what I was doing!

They immediately nodded and led me to a room where there was a lot of food. This is heaven!
They prepared a meal for me and after I prayed, I happily ate.

No more stress for now. I was hungry, and I hadn’t done anything since this morning but think and stress about where I was. No matter what country with royalty, I would never find what I was looking for. Because I was inside a novel!

What was happening to my life was making me hungry. I died full of questions, and I was born again full of questions. I never thought I would be like the characters in the novels I read. The one who was always being bullied in my old world was now a princess, hihi.

I suddenly laughed and choked. I immediately reached for the glass of water and quickly drank it.

“Hayy, I thought I was going to die from choking too.” I was about to take another bite when I saw the maids on the side looking surprised at what happened.

Oh yeah, I was getting carried away. I need to be prim and proper.

After I finished eating, I thanked them and walked back to my room. I also noticed them looking at my feet, I wasn’t wearing slippers!

I happily walked back to my room, skipping and humming as I went.

Yes! I survived today. My problem is only tomorrow and the days after that.

“Where did you go?” My foot was still raised from skipping and I looked at the man leaning against my door.

Messy hair, same eyes as me, purple hair, wearing royal clothes. If Princess Aurelia was a goddess, then the one in front of me was Adonis! Who is this handsome man?

“Who are you?” I whispered, which made him raise an eyebrow.

He walked towards me with a furrowed brow. And pouting.

“I’ve been away from our beautiful palace for so long, and instead of a hug and a warm welcome, my sister greets me with a question like she doesn’t know me,” he said.

And this is the most stressful part. I don’t know the story! So I don’t know who these characters are and how they are connected to each other or to me. Even the plot! I don’t know anything. How will I survive this? If I only knew I would end up here, I would have read the book Tamara was making me read a long time ago!

I’m so stressed. What if I ruin a moment or the flow of the story? I won’t know because I don’t know anything.

After all the time I spent studying in my old life, now I’m feeling my stupidity to the max.
Why out of all the novels I’ve read, I ended up in one I haven’t read and it’s royalty. My brain is weak when it comes to royalty.

I scratched my head and smiled fake before hugging him.

“Haha, I’m just kidding.” He laughed and hugged me back tightly.

I frowned at the ceiling.

What am I going to do?
