Bei Shang took a deep breath and sank underwater. He waited for a full five minutes before pushing his head back to the surface to breathe.
What was innocence? In the end, was Mitch still an innocent child or not? Did he need to be innocent to be called a child?
“Mitch’s mom.”
Bei Shang blinked and looked to the side. “Iran.”
She looked pitiful just standing there, one foot halfway in, halfway out. Although it was a polite way to ask for entrance into the house, Bei Shang knew Iran would barge in even if he refused her.
These demons really needed to learn something called boundaries.
“Come in.”
Iran rushed inside as if afraid he would change his mind, then sat down on the bench beside the bathtub. She watched him practice his breathing for a while before grabbing soap and rubbing it into his hair.
“Let me.”
What started as a hair wash ended up as a full bath. Iran would say he didn’t clean his chest well, then proceed to help him wash it; then say he didn’t clean his armpits well, and help him with that too.
Bei Shang resist the urge to curl in shame , he had the body of a woman, he should not be worried about perverting the young girl eyes.
She didn't stop there , she helped him dry his hair and body then help him apply rose oil , She even helped him pick a night wear.
Bei Shang felt dizzy immediately he hit the bed " Iran, do you have a maid complex ?"
Iran blinked her brown eyes " What's maid complex?"
"Do you like to serve others?"
Iran blushed then nod her head " I like serving others , I like making people happy with what I do for them ... it makes me feel fulfilled , happy and loved "
"Even if you don't serve people they will still love you"
"I know... but I still love to help and take care of people; I feel like the world already have a lot of commanders and leaders , it's best to just help people achieve their dreams"
There was a comfortable silence between them, Bei Shang was about to close his eyes and go to sleep when Iran suddenly spoke out.
"Mitch mom..."
"Yes ?"
"Do you think Mitch will remain the same after this?" She put her legs up and wrapped her arms around them " Do you think everything is going to be okay?"
Bei Shang was quiet before he shook his head “ I don't know “
Big drops of tears started to drop down Iran face and her voice cracked "I should have protected him more , I call him my master but I didn't do well as his servant , I call him my best friend but I still felt frightened at his words ... I hate myself so much"
Bei Shang sat up and pulled the crying Iran to his chest, He rubbed her back in circles hoping to calm her down.
"He will still be the same " He will never be the same
"He's still innocent , so you still did well okay? " The innocence is gone.
"He still loves you Iran , your friendship will never fade away "
Iran blinked her teary eyes " Really?"
"Which one ?"
"The third one "
Bei Shang thought about it for a second before nodding her head.
“Yes”
Iran smiled , her voice sounded relieved.
“Then that's enough”
She could remember the general words, his voice was soft almost filled with tiredness.
“Iran , Things will change between you and Mitch. There are times Mitch will do cruel things that makes you fear him , his emotions will be so volatile, it will be like a whiplash ; But he needs an anchor”
“ I don't understand…”
“ You don't need to understand ; You have to remember that when the world turns it back on him , you have to love him even when it's difficult “
“Mitch's mom , can I sleep here ?“
Bei Shang waved his hand “ Do whatever you want “
She climbed the bed and moved closer to Bei Shang, seeing that he didn't throw her off , she smiled and hugged his arm.
“ My feelings…you know about them?“
Nick nod his head.
Iran swallowed a gulp before nodding her head “ I promise, I will be his anchor. I will stand by him”
Mitch had been her life right from the moment, he was the one who covered her with her clothes when she transformed, he had been the one who held her to keep her warm. She will protect him , he's not just her friend, he's her anchor.
