Scene 1
7:30 AM, Morgan-Turner Manor, Guest Room
Genesis sat cross-legged on the bed, a steaming cup of tea in hand as sunlight filtered through the curtains. Nathan leaned against the doorframe, his arms crossed, a diplomatic expression on his face.
Nathan: So, have you given it any thought?
Genesis: (sipping her tea) About joining your little treasure hunt? I don't know, Nathan. Archaeology isn't a team sport... especially not with someone like Callahan breathing down my neck.
Nathan: (chuckling) It's "Chase," and you'll get used to him. He's not as grumpy as he seems. Well, not all the time.
Genesis: (raising an eyebrow) He called me a klutz four times last night.
Nathan: (grinning) Only four? That's a record.
Genesis: (sighing) Look, I'll admit the prize money is tempting, but I'm not convinced this whole "Emerald of Queen Victoria" thing is even real. It sounds like something out of a bad adventure novel.
Nathan: That's what makes it fun. Besides, you're the only person I know with the expertise to back up the historical side of things. We need you, Genesis.
Genesis: (leaning back, smirking) You know flattery doesn't work on me, right?
Nathan: Worth a shot. How about this—we'll hit the library early morning and see what we can dig up. If the emerald turns out to be a wild goose chase, you can walk away. No strings attached.
Genesis: And if it's not?
Nathan: Then we're splitting that £20,000 three ways. Deal?
Genesis hesitated, tapping her fingers on the edge of the mug. Finally, she extended her hand.
Genesis: Deal.
Scene 2
10:00 AM, Manchester Central Library
The grandeur of Manchester Central Library loomed before them as the trio stepped inside. Genesis looked around in awe at the domed ceiling and towering shelves, while Chase, holding a tablet and a satchel of notes, gave an unimpressed grunt.
Genesis: (whispering) I'll admit, this place is gorgeous. Almost makes me forget I'm stuck with you two.
Chase: (sarcastically) Aw, the feeling's mutual.
Nathan: (clapping his hands) Focus, team. We're here to find clues about the emerald, not bicker. Genesis, you're on historical references. Chase, anything technological that might help with tracking artifacts.
Chase: And you?
Nathan: I'll see what's in the archives about Queen Victoria's possessions. Let's spread out and meet back here in an hour.
Genesis meandered through the history section, brushing her fingers along the spines of worn books until she found one titled Royal Relics and Lost Treasures of England. She flipped through the pages, pausing at a detailed sketch of an emerald necklace.
Genesis (muttering): So it does exist... or at least, it did.
Meanwhile, Chase typed furiously at a computer terminal, scrolling through online archives.
Chase: No mention of an Emerald in auction records. Maybe it's been off the grid longer than I thought.
He leaned back, frustrated, before quickly switching to scanned newspaper clippings from the late 19th century.
Elsewhere, Nathan sifted through a stack of old ledgers in the archives. He highlighted a passage about Queen Victoria's personal collection and made notes in the margins.
Back at their meeting point, Nathan arrived first, holding a stack of photocopies. Chase slumped into a chair beside him, tablet in hand, while Genesis appeared last, holding her phone.
Nathan: (to Genesis) Find anything?
Genesis: (showing him the sketch on her phone) Just this. It's a start.
Nathan: Good. Chase?
Chase: A whole lot of nothing, unless you count "notable thefts in Victorian England." This thing's either hidden really well or never left private hands.
Genesis: (grinning) That's where I come in. We'll figure it out.
Scene 3
12:00 PM, Higher Ground Cafe
The trio found themselves at a cozy eatery called Higher Ground. Warm lighting and minimalist decor gave the place a relaxed, trendy vibe. A server approached their table, his sharp eyes scanning the trio. His name tag simply read "Badger."
Badger: Afternoon. Welcome to Higher Ground. Can I start you off with drinks?
Genesis: (cheerfully) Iced cappuccino latte, please.
Nathan: PG Tips tea for me.
Chase: Same for me. Proper tea, none of that American nonsense.
Genesis gasped dramatically, feigning offense.
Genesis: Excuse me?! I'm broadening my horizons.
Chase: (grinning) You're making them narrower. That's basically dessert in a cup.
Nathan: (laughing) Don't take it personally. We just enjoy watching you pretend to be fancy.
Genesis: (rolling her eyes) You two are unbearable.
Badger smirked subtly as he jotted down their order and left the table. Genesis glared at the other two.
Genesis: I hope you choke on your "proper tea."
Chase: (grinning) Cheers to that.
As they waited, Nathan leaned forward, steering the conversation back to business.
Nathan: Alright, so what did we learn?
Genesis: According to the book I found, the Emerald necklace was last seen at Balmoral Castle in the late 1800s. No record of it since.
Chase: So it was either stolen, hidden, or destroyed.
Nathan: Hidden. People don't destroy things that valuable. Did you find anything on its whereabouts?
Genesis: Not yet, but if it's still in the city, it's likely in a private collection or an old Estate.
Chase: Great. So we're hunting for a needle in a haystack.
Genesis: And you're the haystack.
Nathan: (cutting in) Focus. We're just getting started.
Badger returned with their drinks, setting them down carefully.
Badger: Here you go. Let me know if you need anything else.
Nathan: Thanks.
Genesis (teasing): Behold, "proper tea." Don't burn yourselves, boys.
Chase: (raising his cup) To proper tea drinkers everywhere.
Genesis: You're the worst.
Nathan (grinning): And yet, here you are.
As Badger walked away, he discreetly activated a small recording device hidden in his apron pocket. A faint beep indicated it was working.
Scene 4
1:30 PM, Higher Ground's Entrance
The trio stepped outside, the sun breaking through the clouds as they strolled toward their next destination. Behind them, Badger leaned against the counter, speaking quietly into a concealed earpiece.
Badger: Target group identified. Tracking movements. Awaiting further instructions.
Unnamed Voice (through earpiece): And?
Badger: They're making progress. Found leads in the library—Victorian estates and private collections. If they keep this up, they'll close in on the emerald soon.
Unnamed Voice: (furiously) That cannot happen. Keep surveying them. I want every move monitored. And while you're at it, sabotage their progress. Delay them however you can.
Badger: Understood. I'll report back in two days.
Unnamed Voice: Make sure they don't suspect a thing. This is critical.
Badger nodded subtly, then ended the call and returned to the cafe. The camera panned back to Genesis, Nathan, and Chase, still oblivious to the danger trailing their every step.
Genesis: (stretching) Alright, Detective Turner, what's the plan now?
Nathan: We'll check out the older parts of the city... maybe some estate records. But first, let's not kill each other before dinner, yeah?
Chase: (grinning) No promises.
Genesis: (smirking) Same.
Scene 5
2:00 PM, Blocks away from King's Market, Manchester
The trio stepped outside, the sun breaking through the clouds as they strolled toward the city's older districts. Genesis adjusted her scarf, her heels clicking on the cobblestones. Chase, holding his satchel of notes, trailed slightly behind, fiddling with a small portable scanner.
Genesis: (glancing at Chase) Honestly, Chase, that gadget looks like it's from the 90s. Are you sure it's going to help us?
Chase: (sarcastically) It's either this or your intuition, which I'm sure has a 50% margin of error.
Genesis: (mock-offended) Excuse me! My intuition has been fine-tuned through years of archaeological expeditions.
Nathan: (smirking) Can't argue with that. She did find Cleopatra's missing tomb last year.
Genesis: Thank you, Nathan. At least someone appreciates my genius.
Chase: (grinning) Geniuses don't trip over library carts.
Genesis: (narrowing her eyes) You're one comment away from being hit with my "artifact" Dior bag.
Nathan: (laughing) Alright, team, focus. Let's keep an eye out for estate records or antique shops. The older parts of the city might hold some clues.
Scene 6
2:30 PM, King's Market, Manchester
The trio wandered into King's Market, a bustling square filled with antique vendors and bookshops. Genesis's eyes lit up as she spotted a vintage clothing stall.
Genesis: (stopping abruptly) Wait a second. If we're going to be a team, we need to look the part.
Nathan: (confused) The part?
Genesis: (gesturing at their outfits) Sleuthing is about blending in, looking professional. Right now, we look like tourists on a budget. And Chase... those cargo pants are a crime against humanity.
Chase: (mocking) Oh no, call the fashion police. Genesis is judging me.
Genesis: (serious) I'm not joking. If we're sneaking around estates or interviewing wealthy collectors, we need to step up our game.
Nathan: (grinning) She's got a point, Chase. Maybe leave the science fair look behind.
Genesis: (clapping her hands) Perfect. Let's pick something now.
Scene 7
2:30 PM, Vintage Clothing Stall
Genesis rifled through racks of blazers and coats while Nathan and Chase leaned against the counter, clearly unimpressed.
Genesis: (holding up a blazer for Nathan) Dark green—it'll match your vibe. Earthy, dependable, and it brings out your eyes.
Nathan: (rolling his eyes) I'm not wearing that.
Genesis: (ignoring him) And Chase... (examining him critically) something sleek to match your tech-savvy personality. This white shirt and glacier blue blazer combo should work. Simple, yet sharp.
Chase: (sarcastically) Like I'm going to an ice sculpture exhibit.
Genesis: (grinning) Exactly. And I'll take this purple and yellow ensemble. Stylish, but commanding—just what we need.
Nathan: (chuckling) You really thought this through, didn't you?
Genesis: Of course. Presentation matters. Let's try these on.
Scene 8
4:45 PM, Market Street
Genesis twirled in her new outfit—a purple skirt, matching blazer with gold accents, and a yellow scarf tied neatly around her neck. Her wide-brimmed hat completed the look. Nathan adjusted his dark green waistcoat under a long brown coat, his red hair peeking out beneath a matching green fedora. Chase looked somewhat awkward but undeniably dashing in his white shirt, striped tie, and glacier blue blazer.
Genesis: (beaming) Now this is what I'm talking about. We look like a team of professionals.
Nathan: (grinning) Professionals or characters from a crime drama?
Genesis: (smirking) Same thing. Now, let's move—we've got leads to follow.
Chase: (grumbling) I can't believe I let you talk me into this.
Genesis: (teasing) Oh, hush. You look great. Now stop sulking and start scanning.
Nathan: (laughing) Let's go, Team Hyperline.
Genesis: (pausing, curious) Hyperline? I like it. Where did that come from?
Nathan: (shrugging) Just popped into my head. Sounds futuristic—like us. Sleek, smart, and ahead of the curve.
Genesis: (smiling) Not bad, Detective Turner. I think it suits us perfectly.
Chase: (mocking) Great. Now we're a sci-fi detective agency.
Genesis: (playfully) Oh, stop complaining. Let's embrace it. Team Hyperline, onward!
Scene 9
5:00 PM, The Crown & Anchor Pub
The trio retreated to a cozy corner of The Crown & Anchor, a classic Manchester pub with wooden beams and warm lighting. Chase leaned back in his chair, visibly more relaxed than usual.
Chase: (grinning) Alright, Genesis, since you're new to Manchester, you've got to try a proper bangers and mash. Best comfort food there is.
Genesis: (wide-eyed) Bangers and mash? That's... an interesting name.
Nathan: (chuckling) Trust me, it's better than it sounds. Chase isn't wrong.
Minutes later, three plates of steaming sausages and mashed potatoes smothered in onion gravy arrived. Genesis took a bite and her face lit up.
Genesis: (excitedly) Oh my gosh, this is amazing! Why didn't anyone tell me about this sooner?
Chase: (smirking) You're welcome.
As she continued eating, a dollop of gravy ended up on her cheek. Chase reached over with a napkin, wiping it off casually.
Genesis: (flustered) I-I could have done that myself!
Chase: (teasing) Sure you could, Gen-Gen.
Genesis: (gritting her teeth) Don't call me that.
Nathan: (laughing) And the bickering continues.
Scene 10
6 PM, The Streets of Manchester
The sun had set, and the city was bathed in the warm glow of streetlights. The trio strolled along the quiet streets, their laughter softening as the conversation shifted back to their mission.
Nathan: (thoughtfully) We made good progress today. Tomorrow, we'll focus on narrowing down the leads.
Genesis: (nodding) Sounds good. I'll start early and cover some ground on my own.
Chase: (concerned) Alone? You sure about that?
Genesis: (confidently) I'll be fine. I've handled worse.
Nathan: (smiling) Just don't forget to check in.
Genesis: (teasing) Yes, Detective Turner.
As they walked off, a shadow moved silently in the bushes. Badger watched them intently, his earpiece crackling faintly.
Badger: (internal monologue) They're getting too close. This is not good. Time to get into my plan.
The scene lingered on Badger's determined expression before fading, leaving the trio's laughter echoing faintly in the background.
