“This land is one of the regions under a country called Gotira. This country used a currency called Teil. I’ll show you the currency categories.” Gantz began, as he took out something from a small pouch. He then crouched down before lining up pieces of gold, silver, and several different sizes of copper on the ground.
“These are the main currencies of this countries. For reference…” Gantz lifted a piece of small copper. “This small copper coin equals to 1 Teil. Teil is the name of the currency.”
“Teil.” Bear repeated, before nodding in understanding.
Gantz then pointed at the gold piece, silver piece, and down until the medium-sized copper piece as he informed, “This gold piece is equal to 10 000 Teil per one piece. This silver piece is 500 Teil per one piece. This large copper piece is 50 Teil per piece, while this medium copper piece is 50 Teil per piece.” Gantz then lifted the gold piece and flipped it in front of Bear. “That’s all for the currency. It’s easy to remember, right?”
Bear tilted his head. He was trying to remember all the information Gantz just stated, and as he thought, remembering about currency is harder than remembering herbs name.
Apparently, Bear’s struggles were apparent in Gantz’s eyes. He shickered amusingly before picking up all the money he took out back into the small pouch.
“If it’s hard for you to remember it right now, we I can show you how it works when we reached the nearest town.”
Bear nodded again.
“Still, the weight of the bag is going to wreck my shoulders when we reached my home.” Gantz massaged his shoulders while he mentioned, not knowing Bear had already lifted up the bag and slung it over his shoulders. Gantz gaped his mouth a big when he noticed.
“Is it not heavy?” Gantz inquired. He remembered getting a stiff shoulder after an entire day of carrying his bag.
“It’s lighter than Bear thought.” Bear promptly answered. “Bear can carry this for Gantz.”
Bear didn’t know how much that statement saved Gantz. With a cheerful, almost too happy tone, Gantz replied, “Thanks a bunch! I’ll treat you to food each time we reached any town in our tracks. I’ll even buy you anything that you want. Just say it!”
Unconsciously whistling, Gantz skipped away, leaving Bear flapping his ears in confusion.
“Ah, right.” Bear was about to start walking, when he heard Gantz exclaiming. He glanced at Gantz, who turned around to look at him.
“I will still pay you 1 gold after our trip ends, so I hope you can become my bag carrier, at least until our journey ends.”
Bear fluttered his beady eyes.
“Bear don’t need that gold.”
That statement won a chuckle from Gantz.
“Oh, you’ll need it if you wanna live. Money is essential when bartering system doesn’t exist anymore.”
Bear fluttered his eyes again.
‘Mama, Papa, it seems like there’s a lot of things that Bear has to learn.’ Bear thought to himself, as he resumed walking behind Gantz.
