After a few minutes of waiting, no one had shown up, and nothing had happened. You started to think the story Vitalia had spoken of was nothing but a lie. One of those bedtime stories parents would tell their children.
"Um... Vitalia... Why's nothing happening?" Carlotta stared at Vitalia, confused about the current situation.
Vitalia stared at the throne in the middle of the cathedral. "A few years after I was born, they told me I met the optimal conditions, so I was given the choice to pick my partner. As for whatever optimal conditions meant, I have no damn clue..."
"The only thing I knew was that I had to pick between two girls. As a dumb kid, I had no idea what this meant really. I just picked. Whenever I made that choice, they burned the other girl to death. She was unconscious inside a pod, unaware of what even happened to her."
"I didn't know what my choice really meant. I didn't understand what happened to her, despite seeing it firsthand. They didn't say a thing on why I even had to make the choice. I just know Carlotta is with me now because of it."
Carlotta's face quickly warped into a confused and sad one. "Vita. Vitalia? I. You never told me about this."
You were able to see a small tear drop fall on the floor; rightfully, you were also confused as to why she'd bring this up now.
Vitalia continued to stare at the throne. "I killed an innocent girl for you, Carlotta. And I've been in denial about it for a good while."
Out of nowhere, words echoed across the cathedral. Any light from within the cathedral immediately pointed toward the center where the throne stood, except this time, there was someone sitting on the throne. Bathing in the beautiful light and emitting the radiance of their angelic voice and personification.
"True Consonance be upon you."
Your eyes darted toward the lady with long white hair ending at the waist, a dreamy asymmetrical dress that expanded from the front and opened from the back, a single angelic wing, and pearly white skin.
It was as if a god had descended from the heavens; you lacked the ability to speak; you lacked the ability to even describe what you were seeing. The angelic figure stood up from the throne, walked toward Vitalia, and grabbed her face with a strong grasp. Vitalia did not move an inch; you couldn't see her face as you stood right behind.
Carlotta gasped. "Divinity Alysia?! What?!"
Vitalia started screaming as an aura started glowing from within her; her hair also changed into a strong red shade. Divinity Alysia took her hand off of Vitalia's face and faded away into obscurity.
"They also told me to 'plead from within the soul' or something like that, so I did. And today, it worked. I begged to be able to protect you, Carlotta, even if I couldn't protect whoever was next to you in that pod back then."
