Mr. Kim was left to sleep for the rest of the day, which he easily did as his slight fever lulled him to sleep. Although he thought that he was getting better, the body aches and feverish feeling came and went for the next day. It was after another day of rest that Mr. Kim no longer felt sick, and nurse Sung told him that his heat was over for this month. Mr. Kim still didn't exactly understand what a heat was, but he took that as the same thing as getting over a cold.
Since his heat was over, Dr. Lee ordered for Mr. Kim to do various tests, from MRIs to simple physical exams.
And even though Dr. Lee went through various theories for Mr. Kim's apparent memory loss, he couldn't find a physical reason for it to occur. Because of this, Dr. Lee theorized that Mr. Kim went through a traumatic event that made him forget the existence of things like pheromones, omegas and alphas.
Mr. Kim sat across from Dr. Lee in his office, on one of his computers was the scan of Mr. Kim's brain. There was a more serious expression on Dr. Lee's face, which made Mr. Kim more nervous since he had already gotten used to the doctor's gentle expression.
"Mr. Kim, these past few days must have been tough." He spoke.
Mr. Kim was a little taken aback that this was what he said first, but still he replied rather quickly.
"a-a little bit, but I feel fine."
Although he tried his best to take this lightly, his nervousness still showed through his voice.
"Mr. Kim, there's no need to worry as there is no evidence that you have any physical injuries that have caused your memory loss."
"That's good?"
"Mr. Kim, although there isn't anything wrong, I'd like it if you could stay for a few more days. It'll do you good to get educated about being an omega, and since your heat may be irregular it'd be best to make sure it's stable for now."
"Okay,"
"don't worry about work, we can help you send a notice."
"Yes, thank you,"
It seemed like Dr. Lee had a lot of things to discuss with Mr. Kim, as his advice and comments kept going. Although feeling a little awkward, Mr. Kim didn’t exactly mind all these over explanations about his condition. In fact, it made him feel more secure in these apparent changes with his body.
"And Mr. Kim, I'd like it if you considered seeing a therapist. I think it'll help you with this sudden situation, I can refer one for you once you are discharged from the hospital."
"Su-sure,"
"You must be confused about all this, I'm sure it's a lot to understand. But please don't worry too much Mr. Kim, all the nurses and doctors, including me, are here for you."
Maybe it was because of this, but all the nurses he ran into were overtly kind to Mr. Kim, asking him if he wants a snack when he passes their desk, coming into his room during their breaks so that he's not alone and trying their best to avoid talking about alphas in front of him.
They also did their best in Mr. Kim's education sessions, reassuring him that he can ask them about anything and testing his knowledge after each session.
"Mr. Kim! What are pheromones?" A nurse asked.
Mr. Kim answered hesitantly, “Umm, things that omegas and alphas release?”
Nurse Sung asked the next question, “Where do omegas release them from?”
“The nape of their neck?”
“Correct.”
Another nurse chimed in with a clenched fist, “Mr. Kim, if an alpha asks to bite your neck make sure you punch him!”
Nurse Sung gave his younger colleague a stern look, but didn’t speak against what he said as he thought it was important for Mr. Kim to hear.
These classes about the basic biology of omegas and pheromones went on for an hour everyday until Mr. Kim's discharge day was tomorrow. Although they had to speak of them a bit for the lessons, the nurses always tried their best to not speak about alphas, with the thought that it might hurt Mr. Kim.

In the little time he had alone, Mr. Kim thought about his current situation.
He wondered if he actually had fallen that night of the company dinner, his memory however, was surprisingly clear and there wasn’t any memory of hitting his head. That night he walked home and went to sleep. It was only on the next day that he had felt a change.
So Mr. Kim agreed with Dr. Lee that he hadn’t injured himself.
But, he still wondered why these terms such as pheromones, omegas, and alphas seemingly appeared out of nowhere after that day. And how his body supposedly was one of these omegas who go through heats and have a unique fragrance coming from his neck.
The only thing he could come up with were two possible options, one was that he truly did lose his memory for some reason and that’s why he couldn’t remember these things. To Mr. Kim this was possible simply because of how everything was the same besides the existence of omegas and alphas.
The other option was more believable to Mr. Kim, since he didn’t want to believe that he lost his memory, and it was that he’s in an alternate universe.
Just when Mr. Kim was sorting his thoughts, the door to his room had opened.
A man in a neat suit and glasses walked into his room carrying a basket of various fruits. Mr. Kim recognized him as the assistant department head, Mr. Cho.
“Hello Mr. Kim, I’m visiting on behalf of Mr. Lim,” he spoke.
Mr. Kim was shocked to see the assistant department head visiting him, he expected someone he was closer to or maybe an intern to come on the behalf of the department.
But what was more shocking, was the fact that he was here on the behalf of his boss, Mr. Lim.
“Hello Mr. Cho, thank you for coming to visit,” he greeted him.
Mr. Cho walked closer and set the fruit basket onto the table that was in the room, “I’m glad to see that you’re feeling better.”
“Yes-”
Mr. Cho interrupted, “Well, now that I’ve greeted you I don’t wish to overstay my welcome.”
As Mr. Cho was walking towards the door, nurse Sung walked in, the two stopped to greet each other and Mr. Cho continued on his way, closing the door behind him.
Nurse Sung stared at the door for a few seconds, then looked towards Mr. Kim, “that was the man who brought you here, Mr. Kim.”
“Really?”
Nurse Sung nodded.
“I see.”
“Mr. Kim, you're being discharged today, it’ll be nice to leave after staying here for a week.”
“Yes, it’ll be nice to sleep in my own bed.”
“I hope that you don’t have to stay this long again,”
“Me too.”
Nurse Sung looked at Mr. Kim with a smile, “Mr. Kim, I know you’re going through a difficult time,” he said.
It seemed that the usually quiet Nurse Sung had a lot to say to Mr. Kim. For some reason, to him it almost felt like watching a child graduate highschool and move away for college, even though the both are almost the same age. Even though it would be more accurate to say they are more like a teacher and a student, Nurse Sung continued with a smile like a parent looking at their child,
“But I know you’ll get through it. And if you ever have anything you want to ask, we'll all be here for you, Mr. Kim."
Mr. Kim was tired of being in the hospital, he didn’t fully understand everything about pheromones, omegas nor alphas. But, he felt like he was lucky to have stayed under this hospital’s care this past week.
“Thank you, Nurse Sung.”
And now that he was discharged, Mr. Kim will be returning to work on monday.
Something that he was nervous about considering his new state, the encouragement from Nurse Sung though, eased his nervousness a little bit.
