“The total for the groceries is 17 Teil.”
“Aight, gotcha.”
“The total for these clothes is 130 Teil.”
“Here you go.”
Bear flapped his ears. Throughout the entire process of Gantz shopping around the market after they stopped at their first human settlement, a small village, Bear was silently witnessing Gantz skillfully maneuvering himself throughout the trades. From haggling down the price of clothes from 160 Teil to a 130 Teil, to buying food ingredients at wholesale prices.
After shopping, Gantz and Bear was strolling around the commercial district, while Gantz was holding a large piece of fabric in his hands. Bear glanced at Gantz as he did that, fully curious. However, Gantz seemed busy checking that fabric, and Bear don’t want to disturb his activity, so he only silently walked beside him.
Once in a while, Gantz would stray to the middle of the road, and Bear, feeling that it might harm Gantz, pulled him closer to the side of the road. They then resumed walking.
“Hey, isn’t that a bear beastmen?” A voice reached Bear’s ears. It twitched a bit, and Bear side-glance towards the source of that voice. A couple of people were sitting at a table of a restaurant nearby as they talked about him, given their blatant gazes were directed towards him.
“It’s rare seeing beastmen in these parts.” Their chat continued. They sounded happy for some reason.
“I know, right? He looks fluffy and huggable!” They then giggled.
Bear bobbed his head, not sure how to respond to that. To start, what does ‘fluffy’ and ‘huggable’ even mean? Is it a good thing or a bad thing?
Bear glanced back at Gantz, who finally stopped walking. Gantz was focused. Too focused on the large piece of fabric in his hands. They seemed too big for him to wear so why did he buy it. Is it something akin to an interest, like how Bear likes to collect flowers once in a while?
“The size seems about right.” Gantz finally spoke something, after doing his silent inspection. He then turned to look at Bear—who shifted his gaze back to him. For a moment, he froze.
“Where are we?” Gantz looked around in confusion. His earlier memories before he got completely immersed in whatever he was doing consisted in him walking with Bear around the shops. They were now sitting at a table at a random restaurant, with a handful of groups of people seen eating and chatting about.
“Bear figured that we might as well sit somewhere while Gantz do his job. Bear saw a restaurant, and brought Gantz here.” Bear said, as he nonchalantly sat down on the ground next to the chair where he placed Gantz.
“Hey, you can sit on the chair, you know?” Gantz frantically stood up and pulled Bear’s forearm, while he looked around towards the people.
“The chair is too small. Bear don’t want to break it.” Bear replied. He wasn’t sure why there was another person arriving at the table and asked him if he’s okay. A female, having the same general shape as his Mama, paced closer and checked on him, before she talked to Gantz. They seemed to reach a settlement on something, and soon after, the girl came back, along with two other people—which surprisingly also looks like his Mama, but way bulkier and taller, and are probably different in a sense—while they brought something.
“Sit here. It’s big enough for you, right? I’m glad they have furniture for big customers.” Gantz heaved a relieved sigh, after he ushered Bear to sit on a chair—carved from a thick bark—that is big enough for him to sit comfortably.
Bear glanced at Gantz and flipped his ears.
As Gantz smiled at him, he remarked, “Ah right, can’t have me forgetting about this.” He then picked up the huge piece of fabric. Brushing it off a bit, he then handed it to Bear.
“How about you try wearing this?”
