They say the sky’s the limit, huh?

My limit is as far as I can reach.

So I guess my limit isn't really far.

In this world, they are anomalies called Deviations.

Some people are born with them, and some people gain them throughout life. 

Some say it's God's blessings, others think it's the devil's curse.

They started appearing around 26 years ago, one of the first public incidents being a man accidentally starting a forest fire. It was all over the news that day, people swore he was just some random drunk dude who accidentally started a fire, and didn't put it out. But he swore up and down that fire just came from his hand.

It wasn't until footage was found that proved he wasn't just some crazy dude. 

After that, more cases popped up left and right in the U.S. They tried seeing if it was something with the water, but that came back clean. Then with the air, yet nothing seems to point to the reasoning behind this.

26 years later and life is the same for most, with there being less than 10,000 cases. Most people don't worry about it, but for me, my life is a living hell. The Streets of Chicago are a scary place to be now. Right when the city was cleaning up its act and gun laws became stricter, suddenly we have people running around with Deviations. 

But oh well, as long as I keep my head down I'll just live a normal life, right?

I mean, I'm nothing special after all, I'm no hero. Heroes are only something that exist in comic books, coming to save the day when no one else can. I can barely keep my grades together, what type of hero can barely pass math class? I'm not significant, and I don't think I'll ever be. But I'm fine with that, I mean, every story needs background characters, and I just happen to be one.
