I closed my eyes waiting for it to all end, waiting for this to be the end of me. I was out of options after all.
Just then I felt a warmth surrounding my body, as I felt my feet leave the ground.

So this is what dying feels like, It’s not that bad, at least now I can be at peace, I thought to myself.
“Hey Idiot you’re not dead yet” A familiar voice shouted at me from down below”
I looked to see I was now suspended in the air, on some type of cloud, and when I looked down I saw my friend, it was him, it was Bryce Anderson.

“Sorry for leaving you on your own, I should have known you would get into some type of trouble” Bryce said while shaking his head.

“What is this? and how am I floating? and what are you doing here?” I managed to stutter out.

The cloud started to slowly descend till, it came to a stop once hitting the ground, it disappeared and I fell landing on my butt.

“It’s my Deviation,Tempest, pretty cool huh?” He chuckled
“But we don’t have time for that right now, what we need to deal with is this guy right here, do you have any info on him?”

I rubbed my head, and noticed the multiple craters that now filled the street, and thought about what would have happened if he didn’t come to save me.
“Yeah, He’s a villain who goes by the name Chain reaction, he’s able to create explosions that affect whatever he touches, and the next object it makes contact with.”

I took a second to take in everything happening, how did Bryce have a Deviation, and for how long?Why didn't he tell me that?

“That’s all huh?, on my own I can’t stop him, I don’t have any offensive uses with my Deviation, but if we work together we should be able to stop him.” Bryce said, as he raised his fist, and got ready to fight.
As much as I wanted to ask all these questions, I knew I needed to focus on what’s in front of me, Bryce was right. I somehow managed to deal a damaging blow earlier in the fight. If I could just figure out how my Deviation works, we could win the fight.

“I’m not sure how my Deviation works Bryce, all I know is after getting hit a few times I felt my body temperature rise, and then After throwing a punch, it returned to normal” I said, while keeping my eyes on the villian.
“Hmmm, did you ever read that comic I gave you? The one about Gray Puma?” Bryce said.

“Yeah he wears that suit, that can absorb energy, and then release it later, yeah what about it?” I Responded, still not able to figure out what he was getting at.

“Dude use your damn head for once, are you bad at math or just stupid, your Deviation probably works something like that, everytime you get hit, your body temperature rises. Which is probably the sign of it storing energy, and when you punch, or do some physical action you release the energy all in one hit. If you ask me, that's a pretty special power?” He said with a smile.

“But I can’t tell you for sure if that how it works, this might be a long shot, and if it doesn’t work it could have dire consequences”

“Awww well this has been cute, now you two love birds can go to heaven together, you may have gotten me once, but it won’t happen again.” Chain reaction said laughing.

“You ready Jaye?”
“Yeah, what about you Bryce?” 

We both nodded our heads, we played tons of sports together growing up, even if he never played on a team he was still way stronger than me. I knew we had some type of chemistry, and with our lives on the line, we were going to have to lock in, if we were going to stop this foe.

I lunged at the villain, throwing a punch. He moved out of instinct from getting hit from the last attack. Bryce followed it up with a punch of his own connecting with Chain Reaction’s Face.

“Not bad Jaye, but you can’t stop him throwing weak punches like that,” Bryce said, placing a hand on my shoulder.

Chain Reaction threw a punch at Bryce, as he created a cloud to avoid the attack. On the other side of the cloud, a small explosion was created.

“That’s right, you did say it spreads to the next object it makes contact with, that’s going to make this fight a lot harder,” Bryce thought to himself.

He went from a sweep kick, knocking the villain off balance as I attempted to throw another punch.
Chain Reaction grabbed my arm as he was falling, turning me mid air, and slamming me into the ground. An explosion came from him grabbing me then a bigger one from when I hit the ground.

I felt the blow slightly cushioned, as a cloud surrounded me on the ground. My body temperature increased, and I had no choice but to trust Bryce’s theory.

“Damn that hurt, this guy is ridiculously strong, for some street level crook.” I said

“WHO ARE YOU CALLING A STREET LEVEL CROOK” Chain Reaction yelled.

He grabbed me from the ground, creating an explosion when he grabbed me, and went to slam me into the ground again.
Bryce grabbed The villain's arm.
“Is this supposed to hurt punk?” The villain said.

Bryce tightened his grip, causing the villain's grip to loosen.

I took the chance to throw another punch, but he dodged right. But Bryce took that chance to deliver another punch to Chain Reaction’s face.

“These brats are really really starting to annoy me” He grabbed another handful of Rocks, and threw one at Bryce. Bryce created a cloud to block the attack. While his vision was blocked Chain Reaction leapt forward to punch Bryce across the face creating a small explosion sending him flying, and slamming into a wall setting off another explosion.

“Bryce are you okay?!” I yelled, seeing him hit the wall, and slump to the ground.

The temperature in my body was scorching, and just like before I knew I needed to land a clean attack on the villian.

“Without your friend you’re nothing but trash that managed to crawl itself into society, do everyone a favor and die already.” Chain Reaction said while making his way towards me.

“Maybe in the next life you can be someone worth breathing the same air as everyone else”

He smiled in my face, and pulled his arm back to swing, But I didn’t close my eyes, I wasn’t going to look away from what was in front of me anymore.
