Hi she said softly, the boys are in their room, come on in. Thank you Josefina grinned and the two of them followed her inside. Her house always smelled of salt water and roses. The walls painted in dull shades of blue. The twins ran off to the boys room. Julia watched them with a sigh before turning back to a stack of papers on the kitchen table. Without even knocking, Gabrielle threw open the door. Inside they found Marco hanging upsidedown from the top bunk of his bunk beds and Carlos who sat on the floor below his twin brother, gaming on his switch. Both turned in shock to see Josefina and Gabrielle grinning. Good gods you two are gonna give me a heart attack Carlos groaned. Sorry Gabrielle beamed. He glared at it. What brings you here anyway Marco asked climbing down from his perch. The twin boys were a unique sight. Not only were they twins like Josefina and Gabrielle, they had vitiligo and heterochromia as well. The vitiligo also caused lighter blonde patches in their hair, though it was the most prominent in Carlos. Being sirens like their Mother, they had small shimmering scales on their arms and legs. Back in the old days they probably would have been hunted down specifically for their strange features.
