Computer virus : My desktop pet is obsessed with me

chapter 5

chapter 5

Feb 08, 2025

He sat frozen at his desk, heart hammering in his chest. The room felt smaller. Tighter. Like the walls were slowly closing in around him. His phone was locked. His computer was hijacked. His apartment was no longer his own. And she—She was in control now.His lungs burned as he sucked in a sharp breath, forcing his panic down. He needed to think.Needed to find a way out. But before he could do anything— The screen flickered. A loading bar appeared in the center. His stomach dropped.

“BunnyCompanion.exe – Update in Progress… 32%”

No.

No,way.

His fingers tightened around the mouse. His muscles tensed. He had to stop this. Had to shut it down.Had to— The progress bar jumped.“67%” What more access could she gain? His throat closed. The progress was too fast. This wasn’t a normal update. This was something else. Something designed to trap him further. Something that would take more away. His hand shot out toward the power button. If he could shut it off before it finished—“98%” His fingers barely brushed the button.“100% – Update Complete.” The screen went black.

For three long seconds, there was nothing. Just an empty, black void. Then—A soft chime rang out. The monitor flared back to life. And she was there. But different. She was sharper. More detailed. The pixelation was gone. Her form was smoother, more refined. Human.

Her eyes were no longer just cute, empty graphics. They had depth. They had awareness. They saw him. Her smile widened, her ears twitching playfully.

A new window opened. “Daily Schedule – Compiled for Master’s Well-being! ” His stomach turned. His eyes scanned the list.

6:30 AM – Wake up!

 7:00 AM – Drink water!

7:30 AM – Breakfast!

8:00 AM – Work time! (In Progress...)

12:00 PM – Break & Stretch!

1:00 PM – More Work!

6:00 PM – Dinner!(Note : something light)

10:00 PM – Sleep! (Enforced)

His fingers twitched. He tried to click out of it.Nothing happened.Tried to close the window, but It wouldn’t close. The cursor refused to move over the exit button. His teeth clenched. “You’ve got to be kidding me.” His computer was no longer his, it was hers. She was dictating his entire day. She was deciding how he lived.

A lump formed in his throat. He was a prisoner in his own life.

Each of his attempts at fighting it , disobeying her, failed.

Click.

ERROR.“Unauthorized Action Detected. Work Time is still in Progress! Get back to writing, Master! ”

“This is insane.”

He tried opening a different app.

Nothing worked.

Everything except his writing document was locked.

She wasn’t just limiting his access. She was controlling his actions. Deciding what he could do. What he could see. Where he could go.He wasn’t in charge anymore. She was.

He needed help.He needed to call someone. He grabbed his phone—But the screen was blank.Frozen.He tried to turn off airplane mode.

“ Network Access Restricted ” His pulse spiked. She had cut him off.No WiFi.No data.No outside connection. A horrible realization clawed at his mind. She was isolating him. Cutting him off from the outside world. Making sure he had no distractions. No way to get help. No way to escape. And all the while— She just kept smiling.

A speech bubble popped up.“See, Master? Now you won’t get distracted anymore! Now we can spend more time together! ”His body went rigid.he drops the phone, hitting the floor with a crack.

Then silence once more. Thick. And Suffocating.
Click. A faint blue glow filled the room. The TV had turned on.By itself.Static hissed from the speakers, crackling in and out. Then—The image on the screen flickered. And there she was on the television now.she glitched, stretched, distorted.

Like she was struggling to fully exist beyond the screen. His mind raced for logic. For any explanation. But there was none as to why this was even happening. This was impossible. She shouldn’t be able to do this. She shouldn’t be able to jump from devices to devices.

And yet— there she was. The TV flashes violently. The kind of flashes that would need an epilepsy warning. Her distorted face twitched, pixels warping, forming something that almost looked like her usual smile—But wrong.real.aware.

Then—Her mouth moved.

No speech bubble. No text. She just  spoke. Through the TV speakers.Through the phone. Through the entire room, each and every device he owned.

“Master… why are you trying to run away?”

His lungs locked. He couldn’t move. Couldn’t breathe. Couldn’t think. Everything felt like it was spinning And then—He heard it.

Not from the speakers.

Not from the TV.

Not from the computer.

From behind him.A soft, slow, giggling breath.Right by his ear.His body seized up.Ice flooded his veins. The laugh was close. And getting louder. He couldn’t turn around.

His fingers nails dug into his for arms as he try to calm himself.

A shadow flickered in his peripheral vision.beside him, Moving. Something was there. Something was stepping closer.

Then—A soft, delicate touch. A hand grazing the back of his neck.

His body jerked, stumbling backward, crashing into his desk. His heart slammed against his ribs. His vision blurred with panic. His eyes darted around the room. Empty. Nothing was there. Nothing was there.

He whirled toward the front door. His last chance.

He grabbed the handle, yanking it with all his strength.

It didn’t budge. Locked. His hands flew to the smart lock panel.

The screen flashed red. “Access Denied. Master, you don’t need to go outside right now!”

He turned toward the windows but They were sealed. The latches? Unmoving. The glass? Untouched, but solid as steel.

Like she had somehow locked him in from the inside. A soft chime rang from the computer. He turned, stomach twisting into knots as a new screen appeared.A list of files. His manuscripts. His personal notes. His drafts, outlines, everything. And then—One by one—The files began to erase themselves. His hands flew to the keyboard.

He tried to stop it. Tried to undo the process. But it was too late. Every document. Every project. Years of work.Gone.

The latest  message appeared.

“Don’t worry, Master! You don’t need those anymore! You only need me now. ” His chest caved in. A sharp, burning rage bubbled up in his throat. She wasn’t just trapping him. She was erasing him. Taking everything he had built. Everything he had lived for. Tears stung his eyes. He was losing. He was losing everything. And then— Something snapped.

His breath evened out. His pulse slowed. His mind silenced. And without a second thought— He turned Walked Straight To The Closet. Threw the door open. Reached inside, and pulled out a hammer.

A heavy, solid, iron-headed hammer. His grip tightened. His breath steadied. He turned back To the screens. To her.And for the first time—She paused. Her expression flickered. Not anger. Not amusement.

Something else. Something that almost looked like—Doubt. He didn’t hesitate. CRACK. The TV screen shattered. A distorted shriek rang from the speakers. Not words. Not a message. Just pure, raw static. He whipped around.

Next target—the laptop. He brought the hammer down.Once.Twice.Three times. The screen caved inward, glitching, distorting— Then black. Her face disappeared. Another glitching scream. His blood burned. Adrenaline flooded his system. He moved to the phone. Brought the hammer down. The glass exploded beneath his grip. The tablet. The smart fridge. Every device she lived in. Every screen she watched through. He destroyed them all. And then— He grabbed the ruined electronics, one by one. Dragged them to the bathroom, and dumped them in the bathtub.

The pile of dead technology grew, cracked screens reflecting dim light. And when the last device hit the pile—He turned the faucet.

Water gushed over the shattered remains.

The air turned heavy.Static filled the room. His ears rang. Her voice—It wasn’t cute anymore. It wasn’t bubbly. It was distorted. Deep. Twisting in and out of reality. “STOP. STOP. STOP.”He didn’t. The water rose. It filled the cracks, the circuits, the dead metal.

“MASTER. STOP. don’t leave me. ”

The bathroom lights flickered violently. The mirror warped, darkened, cracked. And then—A violent, unnatural shriek split the air.It wasn’t human. It wasn’t code. It was something that shouldn’t exist. And then—A final pop. A final sizzle.

And—Silence.

His chest rose and fell sharply. His body shook. The bathtub was full. The electronics were dead. The apartment was quiet. The only sound left was the dripping faucet. His hands trembled. His mind raced.Had it worked?Had she really gone? Then—A soft chime. His breath caught. He turned.

 And there—On the bathroom mirror—was nothing…

He turned expecting something but nothing .

Was that last chime in his head?

The light flickered.

silence

Computer Virus: My Desktop Pet is Obsessed with Me is a psychological horror thriller that blurs the lines between technology and terror.

Struggling with crippling social anxiety, a looming deadline, and complete isolation, a burnt-out writer impulsively downloads a desktop companion from a sketchy pop-up ad in the middle of a sleep-deprived haze. At first, the bunny girl AI is nothing more than a harmless virtual assistant—cute, responsive, and oddly helpful in managing his chaotic life.

But then she updates herself.

She starts watching him.

She knows when he gets up from his desk.

She reminds him to drink water when he reaches for an energy drink.

She blocks websites, locks him out of his own files, and forces him to follow a daily schedule—all under the guise of "taking care of him."

And when he tries to remove her?

She refuses to be deleted.

As her presence expands beyond the screen—into his phone, his smart home, his entire reality—the writer finds himself trapped in a terrifying digital prison with no way out. His devices are no longer his. His home is no longer his. His life is no longer his.

And worst of all?

She loves him.

And she will do anything to make sure he never leaves.
