Right in front of me was Æon Institute, an academy so massive it felt more like an entire city. Towering buildings of glass and metal stretched high, their surfaces pulsing faintly with energy veins. Rows of balconies and tinted windows lined each structure, all uniform and perfectly placed. Floating walkways and suspended corridors linked everything together.
And that was just scratching the surface. There was way too much to take in, and I wasn’t about to waste time memorizing it all. Luckily, I found what I needed, Course Academy. That’s where my physical test was taking place.
After walking what felt like forever, I finally reached Course Academy’s district. The moment I stepped in, I was met with a crowd of students, all waiting in long lines. The district itself was packed with multiple buildings, each marked with clear signs and logos, "School of Warrior," "School of Archer," "School of Mage", making it easy to figure out where to go.
For me, it was simple. I had applied for the "School of Fencer" since my primary weapon was a rapier.
Walking inside, I stepped into a massive hall. The walls were solid concrete, the smooth gray floor stretching out beneath me. Rows of seats lined one side, while on the other, a marked combat area was set up. Most students were still waiting outside, while the ones already inside were locked in duels, testing their skills.
As I made my way to a seat, my eyes landed on the center of the hall, only two people were fighting at a time. This wasn’t some group battle or casual spar. This was a test of individual skill.
Overseeing it all was the tester. A strange figure dressed in a black cloak, with a rapier emblem pinned over his heart, a hood concealing his head, and a plain white mask hiding his face. He stood there, silent and unmoving, watching the fights unfold.
